I’ve got to start this one off by saying, “You all officially owe me for this one!” That’s right, I got slammed with emails (Which I don’t mind!) after posting yesterday that ROM Manager had an update which included SPRecovery. Many of you were confused at how to utilize SPRecovery in ROM Manager to get back to stock Android 2.0.1 on your Droid and rather than work through each one of your comments individually, I figured another video tutorial should do the trick. And what I mean by “you owe me” is just that it was painful to return to stock after running CyanogenMod for a full week! Best ROM available hands down. 🙂
So here we go!

My “Flash Alternate Recovery” is greyed out and it says under it “no alternate recovery available” suggestions??
I know this is kinda an old post, but i was wondering if after you do go back to stock 2.0.1 that you will recieve the 2.1 update like 110% sure?
pardon me, but is this for already rooted phones? Or can i use this to downgrade my update so I may root and then upgrade?
how do you install dm updater?
i tried to do it to my phone and when i go to dm updater it wont let me it says that me sd card is not mounted when it is can any one help me
try this, but only if you are rooted from 2.0.1.

I go in to ROM Manager and a window flashes telling me that I must have the ClockworkMod Recovery installed to flash and restore ROM's. When I hit the “Flash ClockworkMod Recovery” tab it tells me that en error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands!
Same thing happens when I hit “Flash Alternate Recovery.” Any suggestions?
I did what the video told me to do and been stuck at the red eye for 10 mins now. I turned it off and hold the power button and the x button at the same time and i get a screen with a box and a x on the phone. I think my phone is bricked now qq. Anyways on fixing this?
I've done every step to the letter, and even went as far as a factor restore/reboot…. and even though I'm at 2.0.1, I still can't seem to be rid of the “Superuser Permission” ninja dude, so that I may get the official 2.1 installed.
I've even tried to install 2.1 via D/L and Astro, still no joy.
Any help wold be greatly appreciated.
^^Does anyone have any pointers or insight as to how I should go about remedying this issue^^?
it says Your SD card is not mounted. If your SD card is mounted on your computer, you must eject it before running DM updater.
I didn't remove the Voice process before factory reset, but I have the correct version of everything, and am no longer rooted. Is this fine/?
edgar I am having the same problem with dm updater and I don't know how to fix it trying to figure out if i can do it all with rom manager but no one has answered that question
help.. my cousin helped me to root my phone and he did the whole process and after it was all done i would not let me access my gmail account it keeps saying there is no connection i have tried plenty of times.. i dont know wat to do in order to convert it back to stock because in dm updater it keeps saying looks like your phone is rooted, but you have not given dm updater access yet. you must check the remember box an it never gives me that option.. plzz help elangarica805@gmail.com
so I see people have asked and I haven't seen a reply. can you go from Cyan 5 0 5.4 back to unrooted stock droid by just using Rom Manager???? I watched this video and when I go to DM Updater IIHAVE NO OPTION TO GO TO ROM MENU!!!!!!! So again can it ALL be done from Rom Manager???? PLEASE HELP!!!!
Quick question, does this process wipe EVERYTHING, including texts, contacts, etc?
I have tried to find a file called unroot_update.zip to unroot and can't find it anywhere. I do have the new rom manager on my phone can i do it with that. i am only rooted and tried to use dm updater but it had a problem
after selecting Flash ClockworkMod Recovery i get a message saying “An error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands!” what do i do now? this keeps popping up.
help!
Usually solved by updating to the latest ROM Manger from the market. Seems to be updated twice a day. If that doesn't work, you can always manually flash SPRecovery. Directions here. http://tinyurl.com/ycpd596
thank you for your time… i was able to revert back to 2.0.1 by booting into recovery and loading a backup to DroidMod i created a few days ago. Once that completed i simply used DM Updater to restore back to stock.
ISSUES…. RETURNING TO STOCK! After flashing SPRecovery.. I went to dmupdater, it told me my sd card isn't mounted. I have double checked it and I get nothing showing that it is not.
having the same problem as you randy. I have reinstalled dm to see if thats the issue…nothing……waiting now
Glad I'm not the only one, thought I did something wrong
Same here, did you guys get any answers as of yet? ?????thanks
No.. Went back using a back up I created last month. I am very impatient. Hope there is an answer for you all. I am now back to stock.
I will keep pressing the issue. Must be an issue with the program. Another help suggestion i received was to uninstall taskiller and select “fix permissions” in the Rom Manager. and retry. It didn't work for me, but try it.
ok, so after a little hunting around, if you watch the video, when Kel goes into DMU, he has the same error message about sd card not being mounted……obviously that is not the issue……i will say though that i do not have the bar above the err message which is where he clicks to get the Stock 2.0.1….but that option is available in ROM Manager under download ROMs, so i am trying that route…….will keep you posted as it is taking a longgggg time to download….
Ok so if I get issues with going back and forth to cyanogen and U.b.d I should wipe cash and data?

do you need to have run nandroid first…or just need rom manager to to your recovery…how do you back up your rom…or is that the rom manger that comes with the 2.0.1 is all you need to go back to your stock image…plz help im a noob…sorry
hey kellex i recently installed the cyanogenmod 5.0.5 on my droid and i noticed my phone has restarted on its own like twice and i just installed it on wednesday is that normal??
Here is what my phone says after reboot in green writing at the top my phone. The little droid dude with the white hand that shows you to tap the screen to continue…..Its called Set Up your Google Account…
Quick set up..? So i tap next..it goes to the next page…At the top it says Setting up your Droid in green writing..there is a create account button…(which i have tried to do) and there is another button that says
(Already have a Google Account?..And yes, I do have one it still works when on web. So.. im taping on the one that says sign in…The next page says in green writing at the top..WELCOME TO DROID it is the sign in page where you type in your google account name and password…..So i am doing that now..Now a Back button shows up along with a SIGHN IN Button “obviously” i want to.. SIGHN IN..to finish the process of
Installing Cyanogen Rom .. so here we go ..im signing in …and it says..in Green writing at the top of the page SIGHNING IN..?In white writing it say (Your phone needs to communicate with Google server to set up your account. This may take up to 5 minutes…there is a grey bar at the bottom of the page that apparently is working but not loading…it is taking me to the next page and it says…in Green writing YOU DONT HAVE A NETWORK CONNECTION…and then it says This could be a temporary problem or your phone may not be provisioned for data services. Please try again when connected to a wi-fi network. If the problem continues, call Customer Care…underneath that.. there is a button to tap that says wi-fi …i am tapping that now.. it takes me to the wi-fi connection page …OK cool i See my home wi-fi network on the page …so im tapping that now ..it says connected..so now i have established a connection right..??.there is a next button at the bottom of the page ..im pushing that now..it took me back to in green writing at the top of the page WELCOME TO DROID its the SIGHN IN page again.. My E-mail name is there and it is asking me for my password…I'm typing that in now…it is going through the same process as before..grey bar trying to load…could take up to 5 min ……it says that it CANT ESTABLISH A RELIABLE DATA CONNECTION TO THE SERVER
Trip on this ..I can SKIP everything on the SIGHN IN and my phone works lik a champ (hands down this is an awesome ROM ..But if i cant go to market what good is all this….Im just saying…please help ..droid family..
i have that same issue if you figure it out please let me no.. elangarica805
Hey everyone, I have a problem with my ROMs I can't figure out. I can't play or save mms video's sent to me when I use the new roms. I installed the newest version of cyanogen, ultimate droid, and bugless beast and encountered the same problem with all of them. Everything works fine running droidmod but not with any of the roms on rom manager. Any idea's would be appreciated!
You guys are amazing!!!!!!!!!! Worked perfectly wasnt quite sure how I was gonna get back. Whoever is responsible for cyanogen is a genius, but still wanted to go back. Once again i love this site.
is there any way to return to stock 2.0.1 from cyanogen and have everything saved like when i first used the droidmod rom?
Damn kellex I can't believe you did all this just to help everyone else out. Great video as always.
I've been on CyanogenMod for a while now and am finally completely happy with the way my Droid looks and runs. CM + BowerBar with white text + dark NexusMod live wallpaper + airportone-themed Beautiful Widgets + 1Ghz overclock = perfect.
What is BowerBar??
BowerBar is a theme for MetaMorph. It makes your notification bar black with colored text (depending which one you choose, there is white, orange, purple, etc.)
I followed all the steps except I forgot to remove Google Android Voice Search. Would that be the reason why I still have superuser permission ninja icon?
I'm sorry kellex for being such a noob,I rooted my phone and after i loaded udate zip file and went into dmu to flash the recovery image it won't let me it keeps diverting back to permisson now I don't know how I am going to go back to stock because I can't even get into droid mod
Thanks for doing this video Kellex!! I was a little worried on how to get back to stock (if I ever want to) but this like all your other videos makes it super easy
help please help, tried to install blackdroid rom didnt work & now all my phone does is pull up the motorola emblem. its basically stuck on that
boot into recovery (hold x and power while turning on phone) and restore to your back up (you did back up right?)
Thanks for the vid Kellex, I would say you might as well stay at 2.0.1 and wait for the update but at this rate who knows how long you'll be waiting. Probably worth it to go back to Cyanogen until you hear of people officially receiving the OTA update.
My DMupdater will not flash a recovery image, it just keeps diverting back to permission prompt. My phone show that I am rooted but will not let me even go to droid mod. I have tried to uninstall DMU and reinstall but did not work. Any hellp
Come on buck! Gotta actually watch the video! The whole idea of this is that ROM Manager will now flash SPRecovery for you! And then you just use DM Updater to go back to stock.
Ok I have a few questions…1 does this work the same way if I'm using ultimate droid? 2 Do I need 5 backups in the ROM manager? 3 Completely off topic, but is there a way to send mass text through the stock messaging app? I know its a stupid question. Sorry
K
My ROM manager is not the issue, it's the DMUpdater, I can't go back to stock 2.0.1 because DMU will not update my recovery image. When I go to flash it , it goes back to the prompt that my recovery image needs to be updated. Therefor, I can't get to the option of stock 2.0.1 or droid mod.
Kellex,
When I run DM Updater it forces me to install the new version. The new version says My SD card is not mounted. I'm stuck can I just use Rom Manager to install their stock image?
Thanks
Is anyone else stuck in the red-eye? It's been there almost 10 minutes.
Why does it say video not available on my Droid?
This post should be called “Trading in your Porsche for a Kia”.
Isnt that that truth.
I followed the steps, which wasn't too far in, and I cannot seem to get through Rom Manager. It tells me that an error occured while attempting to run privileged commands! Any ideas?
ha ha. yea. I've thought about going back to stock just so I know the steps and see that I can do it if I didn't to, but I feel it might bug me way too much to see it come back up in stock and I would be hurrying as fast as I can to get back to cyanogen, lol.
You're the man Kellex! Thanks, although I kind of figured how to do it before hand, at least you got the others covered. Must I say I completely agree with Jeffrey.
Is this the same process if you have “Ultimate Droid V8”? Ultimate Droid is awesome, but I figure I should know just in case.
are you going back to cyanogenmod?
I wasn't planning on it, I like ultimate droid better.
You didn't mention this is only useful if you have the ROM manager premium. So do I use the other video you made to return to stock? Cuz I don't wanna waste 4 bucks on something ill only use once
If I'm not mistaken, the free app should have the SPRecovery 99.3b, so flash that, then use DMUpdater
Its available in the free version also. Because thats what I have and its there. Just make sure you have the most up to date version.
Thanks izzy and Jason. I guess I had to flash the clockworkMod recovery again because when I did that the “flash alternate recovery ” option showed up. And then I flashed the SPRecovery successfully. Thanks guys for the much needed help.
You never know we might get the ota update……… Lol sorry had to
Hah so true. And we've got to make sure everyone is covered. 🙂
True yes but who wants stock anyway when the mods are so much better
lol……To each is own though
-Dave
Wow Kellex you got a bigger pair than I do, I would have slit my wrists half way through lol
Thank You!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! =D
