  • Yes, still waiting for the 2.1 update. Using the Eris…does that matter? Located in Iowa. Would install manually if I knew how. VERY new at this and would appreciate any help as I can't get the app in the market that I bought the phone for….it has to have 2.1. Thanks in advance!

  • Can anyone PLEASE, PLEASE tell me why it is that whenever I try to do anything in ROM Manager it tells me that an error occured while attempting to run privileged commands. When I open the app it tells me I need to flash clockworkmod recovery and this happens every time.

    Please help!!!

    • Check if you are rooted, if not you have to do it to use Rom Manager to flash custom Rom.

  • sorry to be a worry wort, but I manually updated my phone, and I have a question, by manually updating this time, will that exclude me from any future OTA updates?

    • Yes, Kellex already mentioned this. If you do manual update, you will not get OTA upd date notification. Because, you are getting the same thing, but doing it manually instead of getting from the Verizon.

      • I know I won't get any notifications about 2.1, but what about future updates like 2.2 or 3.0?

  • Installed Ultimate Droid 9 last week after ruining droid mod and was the best decision ever made. Battery lasts 2/3 times longer and phone never gets hot. No fcs very stable and lighting fast. Why go for 2.1?

    Sorry for sounding slightly retarded typing from my droid ^_^

    • I agree man. UD9 has been the best decision I've made by far. 7 screens, OC'd, runs like a champ.

    • I updated from UD 5.0 to UD 9 last week and I'm having some issues. I flashed a kernel that's just eating up my battery. I was OC'd at 700 MHZ, but my temp run high and batery only last about 4 hrs. I restored and went back to UD 5.0, but still having issue with the kernal now. Can you help?

  • Hey Kellex, would you happen to know when we may see the 2.1 update rooted? I've been looking on Droid Mod and other websites since last Wed…I REALLY wanna overclock and install a custom rom.

      • Yeah I was hoping it would be out by now, but I'm worried that people have stopped working on it.

        • Yeah, there is really no reason for them to work on a new 2.1 root exploit since you can just install a rooted 2.1 rom (Pete on Alldroid released stock 2.1 with root if you're interested) over rooted 2.0.1. Hence it is kind of a waste of time other than to make life easier for people that took the OTA but still want root.

    • I switched from cyanogen mod 5.0.5.7, just to try it. So far no FC and nextheme look great. just back up your cyanogenmod and try it. But i read from the droid forum, one of the UD developer told not to down load New UD 9.8 from Rommanager. he said that he didn't put it there. So get it from Droidforums.org.

      • Pretty sure you can download it from ROM Manager and get the same version they are hawking at DF. ROM Manager just makes it easier.

      • He said that cause ultimate droid is not getting along with koush. He said hes making a profit off of rom manager and so ultimate droid is gonna make there own rom manager. Then koush put ultimate droid in the free section in rom manager (i believe i got the premuim) to prove a point its not about money.

    • Some may cast stones but, I think ultimate droid roms are the best. No FCs or any glitches and this rom OCed has been the fastest on my Droids.

  • Wow, anyone who has enough patience to have not received the upgrade and to have not updated manually…I SALUTE YOU!

      • it's going to be a long year for my astros…I predicted 70 wins for the year before the season started. I may have to come down on that number. On the other hand, not having Berkman makes a slight difference.

        • Man I hope the Astros can pull through this season and be a real contender. Its been so long since they have really put up a fight for the championship.

          • well, they did make it to the Series in 2005…but got swept. It was fun watching them make it though. It seems like forever ago.

  • I'll update when someone finally roots 2.1 and gets some good ROM's. I just really don't see the point in losing all the stuff I have now

  • I guess I do not understand the reason behind “end of update 2.1”. What happens if I buy the device next week. Will not I not see 2.1 update?

    • It just means that Verizon stops pushing the update over the air. If you were to buy a new droid it would have the latest update pre installed 🙂

      • make sense, it just difficult to believe that they would open all pre packaged devices already in the stores to update the OS, that's all.

  • the only thing ive been waiting for for the past few days is my Seidio Innocase for my Droid. Should be in soon. and manually updated as soon as it was posted up here at DL so ive been running 2.1 since the first roll out day so i feel really bad for those who still dont have it. thats crazy

      • They said its coming soon, they are just a small step away from the fix. I'm telling you bro, its going to stand at the top pf ROMS once its finished. I bet money on it. 🙂

  • i was disappointed with the performance my girlfriends Droid after her OTA….so I decided to root and overclock cyanogenmod 5.0.5.7. Best decision I've made yet with my Droid.

  • I don't think I want to update. I'm running Ultimate Droid 9 and loving it. Is there a reason I should update that I don't know about?

    • Yeah, I', running Ultimate Droid 9 too, and with HelixLauncher 2 I've got more screens then I need. Just can't see a reason to install 2.1
