Tuesday Poll: Your Current Device is?

We now have the Droid Eris, Motorola Droid, and Droid Incredible all under the “Droid” family tag and it’s probably about time I ask which one you are rockin’. Still supporting the Moto Droid and it’s custom ROM goodness? Maybe you jumped on the new beast which hit the market last week? Are there any Droid Eris’ in the wild these days? I want to know…

My answer? Both the Moto Droid and the Incredible! I didn’t think the day would come when I would be running around with 2 smartphones, but that time is here. Just call me an official giant techie nerd now. Yikes.

  • I have both as well my Incredible is my everyday device. Its 100% reliable and fast it does what I want it to do when I want it to do it with out any flaws. I have my DROID as my fun device that I flash new roms on constantly, bc of the DROIDS huge following. Now that I have my Incredible I flash my DROID without hesitation or fear I may be with out a device for a bit while Im flashing a new rom and a chance something may go wrong. Its like having a Vette drag car you customize for fun and a hobby, but still having a Corvette ZR1 as your daily driver!!! LOL

  • I have the moto Droid and 2 Droid eris's. I still love my moto though. Both my Reid's are rooted running android 2.1, and my Droid is rooted running bugless beast overclocked.

  • Definitely sticking with the moto droid, hands down best phone ive ever had, and the most customizable. New bugless beast 1.0 makes me want to stick with it even more. Best believe i will get the droid 2 tho.

  • Moto Droid running Bugless Beast v1.0 OC'd @ 800mhz with smoked glass theme and as fast as they say the Incredible is, this new rom has been plenty fast for me and the custom goodness on my Droid will hold me over til the Droid 2 is released.

      • Did you try downloading it through Rom manager? The premium version is definitely worth the purchase and makes the process of flashing rom's smooth and easy.

        • Yeah, i have the premium Rom Manager. Flashed it to 8.1.4 or what not? But whenever I download bugless beast and try and install it gives me some errors and “aborts installation.”

          • Im trying to install it as we speak, ahah. I'll give you the exact error if i get it again. One minute.

          • Here's an Error, “no sd-ext found. Skipping back of sd-ext” can this be fixed?

          • Sounds like you have apps2sd installed? this rom doesn't support apps2sd but his next release is supposed to.

          • That's weird its giving you that message. I flashed the rom today again because I wanted to go from the 1ghz kernel to the 800mhz and it worked fine. I wonder if something went wrong with the server.

          • Mine took a bit to boot up to. Did you get it to work? Get a chance to see how fast it is?

          • It's crazy fast. I downloaded a 70 Meg file faster than when I usually use wifi..

          • Hey sir, if I'm coming from Simply Stunning, and I want to download any of the ROM's from ROM Manager, is it best that I wipe data/cache again? It's sort of a pain in the butt, but if I have to, I will 😛
            PLUS, when I restore my backup, my contacts won't sync up with Facebook 🙁 Talk about…LAME! lol

          • If your coming from Simply Stunning to Cyanogen or Bugless Beast I would wipe data and cache to ensure a clean install. I know it sucks but check out Titanium Backup. Its free and is honestly one of the best apps a rooted user can have. Not only does it restore all the apps you back up but it even restores the market links to your google account so you will still receive updates and such for your apps. I actually back up my apps in Titanium and Astro but I use titanium to reinstall the apps.

            Any idea what the deal is with Simply Stunning not hooking up with Facebook properly? I definitely clicked “sync all” but it wont do diddly squat.

            Do you ever have this problem with other ROM's? 🙂

          • I actually don't use the facebook so im not sure if other Rom's have the similar problem you are having syncing your facebook contacts. Titanium Backup pretty much though backs up whatever you want and i don't see why it wouldn't save and restore your facebook contacts. Its one of the few 5 star apps I've seen. Definitely a must have. Also when you restore apps it gives you the option to just restore the app or restore app+data. Definitely makes flashing Rom's a lot less of a headache especially when you have to wipe data and cache. I would recommend checking out bugless beast. Its FASTEST Rom i've used to far.

          • Do you use any themes with it? Like Smoked Glass or whatever? I hear people like that one 🙂

          • I am happy to help. I am using Bugless Beast with the Smoked Glass Theme and the 800mhz Kernel. The Nex Theme looks cool too but I really like Smoked Glass.

          • Why did you op for the 800mhz kernel? I never run mine past 800mhz, so to have a stronger one wouldn't really affect me, but is there a real method to madness? I think the kernel game is the last part of all this that I am figuring out 🙂

          • A stronger kernel will only really affect your battery temps really but will run faster. I actually originally installed bugless beast with the 1ghz kernel but my battery temps ran higher then I liked so I went down to 800mhz which runs just as smooth in my opinion and my battery temps stay great. 800mhz should be perfect for you and it should still run fast. If you go higher then 800mhz then definitely try 1ghz. I personally don't run mine above that.

          • I sure did, Its running SO much faster then Cyan. Im very impressed, im running Bugless Beast v 1.0 1.1ghz. I love it, ahah.

  • Have you all read the reviews on the “Droid Shadow”; aswell as the “Droid Ally?”
    Both of those phones are supposed to be pretty good.
    Droid shadow is supposed to have an 800mhz Processer with a little different features to it, Its THINNER then the moto droid, which is suprising since it does have the full qwerty keyboard. And the color scheme on it is amazing, White/ Black/ Red.

  • I'm surprised by the minimal Milestone turnout, but glad to see the Incredible is alive and well.

  • Looking at alls these votes looks like motorola droid has eliminated the compitition.

    • In the competitions defense, the Moto has had 6 months to spread while Mr. Incredible has had a week

  • You only have space for one vote. I have all three althought the Eris is a has been and not in the same class as the MD anfd the INcredible. Never has worked right.

  • Droid for me. Running Bugless Beast 1.0 with the 1 ghz kernel is enough to keep my mind off the Incredible for a while. Now only if we can get a working Sense UI port on it, too! (I know someone is working on it already, damn RIL!)

  • If you said that it is rumored that the Droid 2 is faster than the Droid Incredible then I am pre-ordering the hell out of that phone!! Haha. Until then, nothing will take me away from my Droid. (Unless a load of money comes falling down into my hands lol; then I'd emulate you and have both the Droid and Droid Incredible). I'm jealous.

    • I doubt it will be faster. It will likely just have a keyboard. The Droid 2 isn't supposed to change all that much, just updated with more power.

      • No matter how awesome the hardware and performance is on the Incredible, it only has an onscreen keyboard so i will not buy it or even desire it because the physical keypad is a necessity in my book. but i wouldnt mind that snapdragon proc and 512mb of ram in the droid

      • Well they can't actually put something out with lower specs than the Incredible/Nexus One, can they? It's not like it's the Backflip or Devour or other niche market phone, the Moto Droid is supposed to be the flagship brand!

      • Droid 3 will probably come around the time my contract expires.
