Gamers prepare yourselves. Gameloft just released 10 3D games into the smartphone world with many of them directed at the Android platform. (Yay?) Remember that this is just months after they pulled back on development from the platform, instead going with the arch enemy iPhone. Maybe all of those stunning Android app reports helped change their minds?
Here is what they had to say…
“Our goal has always been to offer the best gaming experience for each device,” said Gonzague de Vallois, Senior Vice President, Publishing, Gameloft. “With the arrival of smartphones that allow the creation of high quality games, we are excited to bring consumers a unique line up of diverse titles combining rich 3D graphics and intense gameplay”
Most of the games appear to be just $3 in the Market. Anyone had a chance to play some of these new titles? Worth it? Not worth it?

Cheers @ellianth!
asphalt is pretty fun! so is Assassians.

Ive been trying NOVA on the droid and the games seems ok. The controls, or should i say the lack of sensitivity on the droid screen sucks. It makes the game play rather annoying. I must say i like it a lot better on the iphone.
Wow, the games are just plain crazy graphics.

You have a video showing all the 10 games.
I’ve tried so far on a Motorola Milestone the new 3D Assassin's Creed and it’s just cool. Make sure you buy/download them directly from Gameloft’s website: http://www.gameloft.com/smartphone/
(price around 3 euro/game)
Not all the games from the website are yet available to Droid/Milestone for instance I couldn’t by the “Let’s Golf” game (which is a pity).
Cheers
No new Gameloft games on my market place
running 2.1 and I'm in the UK
assassin's creed… is bad… the controls are bad and a little iffy…. Just got my Game Gripper though, maybe I can reconfigure the controls…
currently only asphalt,,assassins creed and hero of sparta are available …they are 6.99 a pop.. and you must access the official gameloft website from your phone to see them…anyone tried assassins creed or hero of sparta ..are they worth it?
asphalt is the only one I have and its pretty cool
Asphalt is the best racing game on the market..Hands down!
Whether you like Gameloft games or not, their presence in the Android Market should be considered a positive sign and perhap an opportunity that will attract other big names and indie devs.
I own an iPod Touch and often write reviews for TouchiPhoneGames.com (blasphemy, I know). I have played and reviewed several of the games coming to Android. If you like HALO style FPS games, NOVA is a no-brainer. I hope the implementation is as good for Android but the iPhone version is awesome and has done very well. The game controls (on iPhone) were great, which is a big deal since hundreds of FPS games that came before it were terrible.
HAWX and Modern Combat Sandstorm are also excellent games and you get lots of bang for the buck in terms of content.
Dungeon Hunter (Diablo like) is a fairly solid action RPG. Much like Hero of Sparta, it's not open exploration as your ccharacter must follow a pre-defined path (riding the rails as they say). Both good games and again, lots of bang for the buck.
Let's Golf has done very well on the DS and iPhone and it actually is a well done game. Gameloft is set to release the sequal very soon.
Asphalt5 is a solid racing game but there are better racing games on the iPhone to be sure.
To clarify, Real Football 2010 is the soccer game for those in the U.S. Gameloft makes an American Football game called NFL 2010. Real Soccer is actually a very good game and I liked it better than FIFA (by EA) for the iPhone.
Hope that helps if you were interested in buying.
Gameloft does a great job of banging out games fairly quickly but they are not known for making lots of updates and adding new content. Some of their games can be very disappointing and I think for a big publisher, they don't take much risk in developing their own IP. Still, I think it's a step in the right direction that they are moving back towards the Android Market. Their presence is needed if the platform ever hopes to capture some of the market share in mobile gaming.
Cheers!
