Kellen

It’s not often that you get to merge personal passions into a professional life, but that’s what Kellen did when he launched Droid Life in 2009. After working years of unsatisfying jobs in the medical and property management fields, he took a risk to try and create an online community while playing with the coolest gadgets on the planet each day, a risk that has turned out to be incredibly rewarding. Outside of Droid Life, Kellen is your typical Portlander who drinks way too much good beer, complains often about the Trail Blazers, and can be found out on the streets for a run, rain or shine.

The exhibit is  called "Picasso to Koons: Artist as
    Jeweler." You probably will
    recognize the names of
    barbour
    jacket
many of the more than one hundred artists  represented at the barbour
    jackets
    show. Names like
    Georges Braque, Max Ernst,  Alexander
Calder and Salvador Dali, Robert Rauschenberg and Louise Nevelson and barbour
    uk.

One hundred thirty of the rings, necklaces,
    barbour
    ladies
    and
brooches are from the collection of art expert Diane Venet. She helped
    to set  up the exhibit.

      Ms. Venet
met French sculptor Bernar Venet about twenty-six years ago. A short
time  later, he gave her a piece of quilted
    jackets
    silver
designed as a ring. The ring celebrated the fact that they would soon be  married. Ms. Venet said it was the first
    piece of barbour
    quilted jackets
    an
artist’s jewelry she had ever had.

      As time
passed, Bernar Venet exchanged pieces with mens barbour
    jacket
    artist friends
    who sometimes created jewelry.  Ms.
Venet’s personal collection grew and grew, and she decided to exhibit it  with works of barbour
    mens
    the other artists.

      Holly
Hotchner is the director of the Museum   of Arts and Design. She  says the ladies barbour
    jackets
    museum
considers jewelry as one of the most important forms of art today. She
notes  that a piece of jewelry
    kid’s barbour
    jacket
is not  just a small version of a sculpture.

  • I think one of the biggest reasons the droid is as popular as it is, that almost everyone overlooks, is the slide-out physical keyboard. I came from a blackberry world and absolutely wouldn't own a smart phone without one. It's not even that the keyboard is very good, just that it's there and is better than any onscreen option that I've yet to use. When my time is up on the droid it's going to be another phone with a physical keyboard.

  • Hey all, sorry this is off-topic but I was hoping maybe someone could help me figure out what's wrong with my Droid. I'm having a problem with my homescreen frequently being slow to reload all my shortcut icons and widgets when returning from an app or the browser. I'm running the stock homescreen (non-rooted) with the NexusMod live wallpaper. I don't use ATK and tried uninstalling the live wallpaper, but get the same problem. Any ideas?

    • “I don't use ATK”

That's your problem. You're opening up apps and they don't close after you're done except for the select few I've run across with an exit function. You need to use ATK. Off a fresh boot my phone has less than 40MB of RAM free. That goes to about 80 after an initial ATK. It used to be well over 100MB free but live wallpaper and a home replacement adds a bit of usage.

If you don't want to kill apps, your only other choice is to root, install an OC kernel, and squeeze some more speed out of the cpu. Eventually you're still going to use more RAM and still slow down.

If you don't want to use ATK, you can do the same thing with Astro if you have it. I have both, ATK is great because you can deselect which apps to leave alone and kill the rest in one shot

    • i think your biggest problem is that you're not rooted and your phone is slowing down because of the live wallpaper running. those REALLY slow the phone down. either stop using the live wallpapers, or root your phone so that is can handle that. i would also suggest you try using launcherpro. its free from the market for rooted and unrooted users. just install that app click your home button and select the option to always use launcherpro. then from your home screen hit the menu button (the 4 lines) and select preferences and you can customize the heck out of it. you can add more home screen, change animations, change the speed of things…… etc. i think that changing to that will make a big difference. its really fast.

but why not root your phone??? are you worried about something??? cuz you dont need to be. its a really easy process and if you follow the videos on this site, you'll be just fine. if you need help just ask. but i think that's your best bet because you can overclock your phone and make it run faster. i just wouldn't use one of the new 2.2 ROMs yet. they seem to be a little unstable for the moment. but just doing one of the cyanogen roms would be good for you. 5.0.7.1 is really stable and easy to install. no issues. there are a lot of custom themed roms for 5.0.7.1 too.

      • Thanks for the help. I had been rooted before (DM 1.0 and CM) but ran into the same slowness issues, so I decided to return to stock before the official 2.1 release. I've heard ATK is not necessary, but occasionally use the Task killer in Astro to close apps I'm not using. I'll try going back to non-live wallpaper to see if that's the issue.

  • Excuse my Language….But, AT&T is Apple's Bitch. There scared of apple, and apple tell them what to do.

  • The low level of Android usage on AT&T makes me wonder how many people would readily abandon Android if their carrier of choice offered the iphone…especially those on Verizon.

    • I think the low level of usage on AT&T is because they have no high end Android phones. I may have missed a phone release but last time I looked AT&T only had the backflip and I wouldn't touch that thing if you paid me to the way they have it locked down.

    • Let them do it. They'll just realize Droids are better and hop right on over in time. {{-_-}}

  • I'm happy to say that i have now gotten 4 people to use android. 3 Droid users and one Eris.

  • AT&T is going to stay really low. They would rather piss of customers than piss off Apple.

  • I wish the verizon iphone talk would just end and verizon would just go all in with android and crush att/apple. But I do understand that a lot of people using iphones would jump ship to verizon and there's money to be made. Verizon's droid does commercials is probably the reason why they are so successful and I hope that won't end if they end up carrying the iphone in the future.

    • I think the Droid is too much of a juggernaut to throw by the wayside. I think verizon should show the same kind of love to apple as AT&T has shown to Android 😉

    • I would love to see an verizon Iphone. I have no interest in getting one, but that kind of competition, would ramp up android designs and likely lower the price.

    • Say, that's a good slogan. “Hooked on Droid?, yeah, but it's better than crack.”

  • I know off topic but any of you rooters on the bleeding edge using experimental BB 0.2 for Froyo, Peter just released an update that fixed the random rebooting I was getting.

  • personally I hope verizon doesn't screw us over If they get the iphone and lock down or abandon android like att has. I don't wasn't an iphone really I think they are boring android is just amazing to the serious user.

  • So I have the moto droid and love it but lets say the droid 2 knocks my socks off. Will they[verizon] have some sort of trade/trade up discount deal? Did ATT do this when apple released the new iphone models? I think thats the closest thing that could be served as an example for my question.

Any help would be awesome sauce…
    DL=Best online community ever!

    • I doubt it, Verizon almost never does trade-ins or changes upgrade dates just because a new phone comes out. It would be nice though 🙂

      • Not a good business model when it comes to Droids…new ones come out too often to keep subsidizing at will. Iphone times to a yearly release, and similar to att , vzdub will allow you to upgrade yearly IF plan is 49.99 or higher. Otherwise 20 months.

Interesting thought: one year is usually 80 more up front for phone (still get mir) but you can upgrade every 10 months… no bogo offers with 1 yr.

  • Verizon and the Droid line up is whats gonna put Android on top and into the hands of the average consumer…

  • I think that AT&T is clearly trying to avoid poaching iPhone sales by only offering a single low-end Android phone. I don't expect to see a truly great Android phone on AT&T until Verizon gets the iPhone.

    • Verizon will never get iPhone. First of all, that's a smartphone monopoly. Big Red would then get way worse than GayT&T. Second, Verizon is the REAL iPhone Killer. People would realize that Droids are better (and more customizable) than iPhone, and then switch right over (since it's the same network). {{-_-}}

      • Verizon just paid a ton of cash to Apple to get the iPhone in two years according to inside sources. T-Mobile had first crack, but couldn't pay out that much cash.
