Kellen

It’s not often that you get to merge personal passions into a professional life, but that’s what Kellen did when he launched Droid Life in 2009. After working years of unsatisfying jobs in the medical and property management fields, he took a risk to try and create an online community while playing with the coolest gadgets on the planet each day, a risk that has turned out to be incredibly rewarding. Outside of Droid Life, Kellen is your typical Portlander who drinks way too much good beer, complains often about the Trail Blazers, and can be found out on the streets for a run, rain or shine.

  • this is a nice phone but its not a real DROID more of an attempt to copy an iphone and they put android on it

  • All the people knockin on the droid should leave now and go sit in a corner on time out, shame on you… DROID FTW!!!

  • I've already got mine pre-ordered. You guys do realize that Touchwiz is just a launcher, and you can just disable it to get back to stock Android? That Super AMOLED screen and Hummingbird processor just blow away all the DROID products right now… the only debate for me is whether to switch carriers… the Fascinate IMO is the least impressive Galaxy S available… but still better than any Moto product right now.

  • Not good enough to get rid of my OG Droid. The specs are great but I don't like Samsung or their build quality. It's pathetically obvious Samsung copied many of the iPhail's qualities as well. Way to be original Samsung.

I'm waiting for that new HTC beauty or the Moto beast that's supposed to be coming near the end of the year.

  • I am considering it though I wish it looked a little moire Droid-ish. (thank you Mr. Bush for making it ok to make up my own words lol)

  • i have the droid inc. my girl has the captivate with at&t.. these samsung phones look like junk.. they are half way decent, but the UI is crappy and the Soft buttons are super hard to use.. try to hit a simple back on the back button.. seems like they are all non-responsive half the time. or you have to press hard on them.. only thing i like about the Galaxy phones are the GPU.. seems ok.. but i still would never trade my d.inc for one..

  • I'll stick with my Droid. TouchWiz sucks and is far too iPhone like. Plus, I've never seen a Samsung phone with good build quality. They always seem to break so easily on my friends.

  • I like the Moto better, but I'm not buying another Moto product till they lighten up on the dev community. When they quit locking their phones down so much, or at the very least, quit sending C&D orders for things like leaks and sbf's I'll think about another Moto phone. I was considering getting the Fascinate, but I'm going to see how much development is done for it first. A cracked bootloader isnt worth much if there's nothing to install on it.

    • A) it's LTE, not 4G
      B) It's going to take a while for LTE to be deployed everywhere… i'll wait until it is actually in a place that I can use it in…

      • Who knows what Verizon has done with that though…

But in all honesty, what is that bad with an alt UI? It is only a launcher and a themed status bar and widgets. The lockscreen is odd, but easy enough to get passed.

I don't see nothing that bad with it.

      • What I'll be interested to see is if the Fasinate carries over the A-GPS bugs from the Captivate and Vibrant. On the other hand I think once this hits Verizon, a larger community will get behind it and get to hacking it and hopefully make it a very nice option.

        • I think that's why the guy crashed through the building, the GPS thought he was still on the street.

    • I've played w/ Samsung's Galaxy UI and I think its better than MotoTurd…but I'm by no means an expert in either. I just wish manufacturers would allow you to turn that trash off, Google Experience or nothing for me.

  • I have to say neither, I'm holding out to see what HP comes out with hardware-wise for the Pre 2. WebOS 2.0 was just announced yesterday and I have to say I'm excited.

  • I dont know about you guys, but I am much more interested in seeing an HTC EVOish device come to Verizon than a Samsung.

  • I love the new marketing lingo, calling tiny device displays “cinema quality.” There's a reason cinemas are called “the big screen.” No phone or tablet will ever be “cinema quality” to me.

  • well gotta say this phone is awesome droid life should take up a collection for me to get one since verizon never did send me my birthday present of a droid X which was 22 years after my birth!

  • Nah, will still stick to my Droid.

Still curious about that new HTC floating around though.
    Any more news about it?
