  • Video: Motorola Teases Honeycomb Tablet for CES

Hello ultimate CES teaser.  Motorola posted a new video this weekend which walks through the evolution of the “tablet” by starting off with an Egyptian Hieroglyphic and eventually moving past both the i*ad and Galaxy Tab before finishing off with what we believe to be a covered Everest tablet.  The video then ends with a bee flying towards the new red Motorola logo, meaning Honeycomb is upon us and the 2011 CES will be epic.   (more…)

  • Verizon Confirms 4G LTE Android Handsets for CES in January

The message above was just tweeted from the official Verizon Wireless Twitter confirming that we’ll have plenty of 4G LTE Android devices on display January 6th at CES.  In even better news, expect the entire Droid Life staff to be on hand for a ridiculous amount of coverage.  Incredible HD anyone? Maybe the Motorola Etna?  Or how about the Motorola Everest tablet?  Two weeks!

  • First Gingerbread ROMs for Original DROID Released

The first Gingerbread ROMs for the original Droid are starting to pop up and for the most part, people are super excited about the performance they’ve seen while running them.  These are first attempts though and they lack ALL Google Apps, so you won’t get the full experience, but so far, people have nothing but great things to say.  In fact, most people would switch to these immediately should they actually include any of the GApps.   (more…)

  • New DROID Incredible Kernel Allows 10-point Multi-touch

Anyone been looking for the ability to have all 10 fingers on their Droid Incredible at the same time?  Your prayers have been answered, thanks to XDA member tchebb who has created a new kernel which unlocks 10-point multi-touch.  He’s been running it for over a month now without any issues and admits that it gets a little wishy-washy above 5 touches, but that all 10 will work.  Fun stuff.

Download can be found at this thread.  Flash the file in recovery just like you would any other ROM.

  • Anyone Else Experiencing Market Issues?

Anyone else receiving that message this morning when trying to access your “My Apps” section of the Android Market?  According to our inbox, it seems like many of you are seeing the same thing including me.  We haven’t heard an official word from any of our Googler friends, but we’ll be on the lookout.  In the mean time, feel free to let us know if your market is playing nicely in the comments.

    Cheers Mike, David, Jeremy!

  • The Dirty Details of the New Google Maps 5

The new Google Maps 5 may have changed the way we use our phones for the foreseeable future with the new set of features that came with it.  Your Maps app will now display 3D versions of cities, load faster, cache maps for offline viewing, and even allow you to navigate without a connection.  It’s pretty amazing stuff and Google wants you to know more about it.  Today, they released the secret behind this amazing new app, which they are calling “vector graphics.”     (more…)

  • Android Gaming Madness: Need For Speed Shift, Spiderman and Dungeon Defenders

It seems like only yesterday that we were all sitting back and complaining about the gaming situation on Android and how in order for us to compete with the i*hone, we would need bigger companies to start releasing some of their big titles.  Well, it looks like that time is more than here, as we’re seeing major releases drop on a daily basis.  GameLoft with their anti-market approach is still pumping out amazing games, EA is ready to push forward with their lineup, and of course we have the dozens of titles out from companies choosing to release through OpenFeint.  Times are good right now, but this is only the beginning.   (more…)

  • Verizon Really Wants You to Buy an R2-D2 DROID 2

We broke the news yesterday that the R2-D2 Droid 2 had seen a price drop to $199 and this morning, Verizon started telling the rest of world about it.  Anyone on the VZW DROID email list should have received this email some time today to try to get them to buy this limited edition Droid.  They even made it sound like the device would be sold as a “gift set” that includes a desk charger, ear buds and more, when we all know that stuff came with it from the beginning.  Drop that bad boy to $99 and I may think about it.

    Cheers  Aaron and all others!
