  • Buy a DROID X, Incredible or Pro from Dell and They’ll Hand You $25

Normally when a phone like the Droid X hits the “FREE” category, that’s a big enough announcement, but Dell has taken it a step further.  If you buy a DX from their online store, not only will you get the device for free, but they’ll toss in a $25 gift card with it.  Not bad right?  We saw this same deal for the Incredible last month, but Dell decided to step their game up for a last minute X-mas push using almost all of the Droid devices.  You will find this $25 gift card deal for the Incredible (again), Pro and DX.  Who’s buying?

    Buy.

    Cheers MC!

  • Gingerbread Theme for ADW Launcher by Koveleski

Here we are again. Back to show you how to make your phone look like something that isn’t even out yet. Last week we gave you everything that was available:  Icons, themes for ROMs, and everything in between. Our good friend Koveleski, who just can’t seem to stop releasing good material for the community, has added to the fun.

He just recently launched this theme for ADW and has already become top honored on AppBrain. Isn’t that sweet? So after the jump we’ll provide the QR code and Market link for you to enjoy as well if you bat for team ADW.   (more…)

  • Download: Nexus S Gingerbread Live Wallpaper

Been wanting that new Nexus live wallpaper that comes with Gingerbread and the Nexus S?  You are in luck!  The amazing minds over at the XDA Forums have released it as an .apk file, but only for those of you that are rooted.  You’ll want to make a backup of your LiveWallpapers.apk file which is located in /system/app as this will replace it.  Also, Blur phone users (Droid X and 2) may have to go into “mounts and storage” and “Mount System” if you choose the update.zip method below.

    Download:  update.zip or LiveWallpapers.apk

  • Wednesday Poll: Which DROID Device Will Receive Gingerbread First?

It’s time to start placing those bets.  Which of our Droid family members will receive the update to Android 2.3 first?  Will it be the Blur infested Droid X, 2 or Pro?  The stock original Droid?  The HTC Sense-filled Incredible?  (Seems odd that we have this many phones branded with the word “DROID”, yet they all run their own special skin…anyways, back on track!)  My first instinct would be to lean towards the Droid X after it had such a huge summer and continues to be used in almost every Verizon ad, but there is something about HTC and the Incredible that has me thinking they’ll sneak in an update a few weeks ahead of everyone else.  Your thoughts?

  • Verizon Begins Assessing Which Android Devices Will Receive Gingerbread

We still don’t know when or which of our Droid devices will receive Gingerbread (Android 2.3), but we know that Verizon is at least in the process of assessing the situation.  Customer service reps are now being asked to tell customers that they are “working with Google as they release source code for device manufacturers to being integration.”  I know it’s not much, but we wanted you to know that it’s on their radar.

Any bets are which phone will receive Gingerbread first?  Ooh…hello poll idea.

  • Dolphin Browser Mini Lands in Market

A little over a week ago, we wrote about Dolphin’s new Mini browser, which was the company’s attempt at making the ultimate light browsing experience.  At that time it was still in “preview” mode, but as of last night, it became semi-official and is now available in the market.  From just a few minutes with it, I don’t see any major differences between this and the preview version, but you’ll want to grab the market version to make sure you get prompted for updates.

And if you are new to Dolphin, you’ll want to check out the chart below.

  • HTC Delivering LTE Handsets Mid-2011, Incredible HD Hits Testers this Week?

HTC’s CEO Peter Chou announced this week that they’ll have a variety of 4G LTE handsets in 2011, but that we shouldn’t expect them until at least the middle of the year.  While I’m not about to call out their top dog, as he knows much more than I do, I will say that we’ve heard that the Incredible HD has hit a new wave of testers which usually points to a sooner-than-later release.  They were all forced to sign some crazy NDAs, but I wouldn’t be surprised if some leaked stuff were to pop up any day now.

There is also a chance it will just be called the Incredible 2 or Mecha, which we’ve heard in the past.
