  • EA Mobile Offering Up Catalog of Android Games for $.99

EA Mobile is currently offering up what appears to be their entire lineup of Android games for $.99 as a holiday celebration of sorts.  Even Need for Speed, which isn’t showing above, can be had for a single dollar.  Speaking of the holidays, there is something about Tetris that brings me back to X-mas morning when the Gameboy first came out and that was the game.  Memories.

Check your market now to grab some of this killer deals.

    Cheers JoelSeph!

  • DROID Pro Receiving Bug Fixing Update, to Version 2.26.60

The Droid Pro (our review) is the latest family member to receive an update.  With so many devices out now, seems like one pops up each week, and of course, we’re not complaining.  This one appears to be pretty minor, weighs in at about 15.9MB and looks to improve a bunch of stuff.  If you’d like to tell your phone to pull the update immediately, head to Settings>About Phone>System Updates on your device and it should be waiting for you.   (more…)

  • LightGrid Live Wallpaper Updated, Includes Andy Theme and Shape

Light Grid live wallpaper is hands down my favorite of all time and I wasn’t sure it could get any better, and then today through a new update, it did.  You will find under themes and in shapes, our favorite robot to play with in any way you please.  You can see from my two screenies above that I went with the classic DroidLife pink and black, but know that you can make it any color scheme you like.

Seriously, if you don’t own Light Grid yet, you need to buy it now.  It’s $.99.  Oh, it looks like you may need the holiday pack as well to unlock the theme and icons and that will cost you another $.99.  Trust me, it’s so worth it.

  • HTC Plans to Be the First to 4G Again, Must be the Incredible HD?

The HTC device with a dozen names that has been popping up all over the place the last couple of days is about to be announced as the first 4G LTE device on Verizon at CES.  VZW is holding a big ol’ 4G LTE event on January 6th that we’ll be attending and are fully expecting the Incredible HD/Thunderbolt to be there.  In fact, if you take HTC for their word, it will be the first one on display.

We’re obviously still expecting Motorola to make a big splash with the Etna and Everest tablet, but HTC’s hardware seems to have been close to finalized for months now while Moto’s might still be super fresh.  No matter what, January 5-9th is going to be the week you won’t want to miss.

Hit up the site here to sign up to be notified of its awesomeness.

    Cheers @ReverendYo and Android Central!

  • DROID 2 Update to 3.0.0 Will Include Profiles, New Launcher Style

A leaked Droid 2 update just hit the interwebs courtesy of our friends over at MyDroidWorld and it’ll bring you up to Blur version 3.0.0.  What’s significant about 3.0.0?  Well the addition of profiles is a pretty big deal.  Up until now, we had only seen profiles on the Droid Pro (our review) and the Droid 2 Global, so this is a nice bump for the original D2.  For some reason it’ll still be stuck at Android 2.2 though and not 2.2.1, but that .1 isn’t all that important.  I’ve played with it for a little while now and can say that this is the best version of Blur yet.  I know we all hate Blur, but at least it’s starting to run smoother.   (more…)

  • Carrier Billing Comes to the Android Market, Only AT&T for Now

A new payment option which allows AT&T users to bill app purchases to their monthly statements has been rolling out over the last few days and has now been made official by the Android Developers Team.  I know that the majority of you are Verizon folks, but this is still a step in a great direction…

Today, I am pleased to announce the availability of AT&T Direct Carrier Billing for Android users on the AT&T network. AT&T Android users can now easily charge their Android Market purchases to their monthly accounts with only a few clicks. With the combination of Android Market’s new app discovery features and a carrier-backed frictionless payment method, users will find it significantly easier to discover and purchase applications of their choice.

We strongly believe carrier billing is a great way to make it easy for users to purchase and pay for applications. In addition to the availability of AT&T and T-Mobile US carrier billing, we’ll continue to to partner with more carriers to offer carrier billing options for their subscribers.

But wait, will Verizon users ever see this option?  Verizon already has its own app store with statement billing which would make a partnership with the Android Market seem contradictory.  And my excitement is gone again.

  • HTC Incredible HD Model Number will be ADR6400, Thunderbolt a Possible Name

We’ve received word that the model number for the Incredible HD will be ADR6400 (officially ADR6400LVW) which makes perfect sense.  The original Incredible is ADR6300 and if everything we have been led to believe comes true, this is the follow up device to it, so the numbering sequence matches right up.  We’re also hearing that a name has still not been finalized and that “Thunderbolt” is appearing on documentation alongside “Mecha.”

Maybe “Thunderbolt” is just a code name for it being the first 4G LTE device?  Remember that first 4G commercial from Verizon with the thunderbolt in a box?  Fitting.

Oh, and I already ran through the standard Picasa and Google searches, but feel free to in your spare time.

  • DROID Does Recruiting Violations in Tennessee

Oh Tennessee Volunteers coach Derek Dooley…bad boy!  According to reports out of the south, Dooley was busted after accidentally posting a message to a recruit’s Facebook page using none other than his trusty Motorola Droid.  Seems a little silly, but the NCAA bylaws strictly limited coaches to keeping contact with recruits using emails and faxes only…

According to the bylaw, “electronically transmitted correspondence that may be sent to a prospective student-athlete (or the prospective student-athlete’s parents or legal guardians) is limited to electronic mail and facsimiles.”

Another “Does” moment.  Oh and I apologize for the cheesy shopped picture…I just thought it was funny to find a picture of Dooley at a press table with Verizon logos all over the place and needed to toss in our all-time favorite family member.
