  • New Verizon Samsung (SCH-I520) 4G LTE Device Appears, Has Front Facing Camera

We just got done looking at the Incredible HD, which most thought would be Verizon’s first 4G LTE device and then this bad boy pops up.  The new Samsung SCH-I520 will also be with Big Red, on their new LTE network, love video chatting thanks to a front facing camera, and run at the very least, Froyo.  Oh, there is a chance that it won’t be Bing’d out, but it is currently running TouchWiz and likely will be when it hits store shelves.  We’re expecting this one to be at CES as well.

Thoughts?  I’m guessing we’re all favoring the IncHD over this?

  • Android Collectible Heads to Space!

Google decided that exploring space would be something fun to casually do on a random weekend, so they made some weather balloons, strapped our favor robot collectible to them with cameras and a Nexus S, and sent them off.  They captured some great pictures of Earth, data, and found another way to get their mobile operating system some press.

  • Wednesday Poll: Thoughts on the Name XOOM?

The word XOOM popped up today as a potential candidate for the official name of the Motorola tablet and we’re sort of torn on our thoughts of it.  Does it sound a lot like Microsoft’s Zune?  Yep.  But does it look and sound like a solid name to add to our Droid family?  Definitely.  What do you guys think?  Good name, bad name…?

  • GameLoft Offers Hero of Sparta for FREE Today

Earlier this month GameLoft gave away Dungeon Hunter for free and decided to follow that up with a free offering of Hero of Sparta.  I’d try to offer up some sort of quick review, but is that really needed?  We know their games are of the highest quality, plus the word “free” should have the internet sprinting your way to the download link below.  As with any HD game, expect additional game data to be downloaded to your SD card.

    Download here.

    Cheers @bfuleky!

  • Incredible HD Gets a New Head Shot

That folks, is what we all believe to be the Incredible HD and as you can see from the picture, is indeed running on Verizon’s 4G LTE network.  Now, there weren’t any doubts that this device would be headed to Big Red, but that icon in the top left corner for the My Verizon app definitely helped solidify everything.  And don’t be surprised if pictures of this device start leaking out by the minute as we get closer and closer to an official unveiling at CES in 2 weeks.

    Who’s buying?  (/me raises hand.)

  • OpenFeint Unleashes New Wave of Games Including Mega Jump, Finger Physics and FaceFighter Gold

OpenFeint just dropped a whole bunch of awesomeness on you in time for a long X-mas weekend with crazy in-laws and bad sweaters.  After today’s batch of 11 games hits the market, the total from them will have reached 158 which is pretty remarkable.  Of the 11 you’ll see today, we have some big time players like Mega Jump, Finger Phyiscs and FaceFighter Gold which were all hits over on the enemy side and have now made their way to the soon-to-be winning side.

Full list after the break, plus an X-mas giveway from OpenFeint.   (more…)

  • Motorola Tablet Will be Released as the XOOM?

Trademark filings by Motorola from around the globe for the word “XOOM” have surfaced and are leading many to believe that this is in fact the name of the much anticipated Honeycomb tablet that will be unveiled in just 14 days at CES.  Filings were made in Canada, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and of course the U.S., so we’re thinking major global push here, right?  They did ask if we were all ready to “skip a generation” yesterday and it’s now pretty obvious that this tablet is hoping to change our mobile computing ways forever.  I surely hope they succeed.

My only concern is that the name sounds a lot like “Zune.”  Or am I just crazy?

  • HTC Leaks Crafty Teaser Shots of Incredible HD

Could a planned leak get anymore obvious?  HTC clearly just sent out pictures of an upcoming device to a variety of blogs, that we’re assuming is the new Incredible HD.  Of course, we can’t actually tell, because the “anonymous tipster” managed to hide every piece of the phone that would give it away.  Silly HTC.

Two more shots after the break.   (more…)
