Kellen

It’s not often that you get to merge personal passions into a professional life, but that’s what Kellen did when he launched Droid Life in 2009. After working years of unsatisfying jobs in the medical and property management fields, he took a risk to try and create an online community while playing with the coolest gadgets on the planet each day, a risk that has turned out to be incredibly rewarding. Outside of Droid Life, Kellen is your typical Portlander who drinks way too much good beer, complains often about the Trail Blazers, and can be found out on the streets for a run, rain or shine.

  • The Press release for the SGS2 stated that it was the first SAMOLED+ phone, so I wouldn’t expect this till after May 1st.

  • Ok guys, I’m fustrated. I have a crappy Storm 2 (Second one by the way) and have been saving my upgrade for a 4G phone. I really want the Bionic but Big Red has been keeping everyone in limbo. I can’t BB any more and I don’t know what to choose. The Charge and the Thunderbolt seems nice but I know nothing about the Charge. Any advice???

    • Either get the thunderbolt…eeeehhh…. or wait for the bionic… or the “targa”…sigh

  • I’m curious about the quality of the speakerphone and camera, battery life a little too, as well as when/if it will have Gingerbread. No real reviews that I could find other than people standing at the booth @ CES.

  • I got the chance to use one yesterday at a Verizon Conference, it is a very nice phone. It runs froyo and has a new beach live wallpaper that is pretty sweet. What im getting to though is that the Samsung reps told me that the phone should drop on the 20th or 28th.

  • Wal-Marts logo is a friggin’ a**hole! Everytime I see it, I’m stunned someone okayed it for a logo. Don’t believe me? Google ‘Vonnegut a**hole’ and check the Images tab. It’s a thing of beauty.
Anyways, sorry. This has nothing to do with Droid I know, but I must share the hilariousness.

  • Cool phone, but the Galaxy S2 will be released in less than a month. I doubt Verizon will be getting it any time soom. Aside from the LET and SamuledPlus, this isn’t much of an upgrade from a Fascinate. It is a Droid though, so it should mean more updates.

  • Since it’s a droid branded samsung device, I think Samsung may get their act together. However, If they don’t get their act together with the updates, then I think they will lose a lot of support. I think this is the main reason why a lot of people don’t like this phone, besides the design is the lack of software updates.

  • II’m a fan of the Droid label. I want it. Five lines active . One more to add to an impressive line up Thunderbolt, Droid x rooted , r2d2 rooted stock , Droid rooted ,and Samsung a950. Guess which ones going ?

      • Beauty is in the ‘Eye’ of the beholder. I like the chrome accents which create a classy look, similiar to the BB 9600 i’m carrying. Battery life on that nice display and entry price will be the key now that VZW is selling the Tbolt for 199.00. I ordered the Tbolt and sent it back so I could look at this one. Price may cause me to reorder the Bolt. They will need to include the 32G card too if they want it to compete.

  • Pretty much every manufacturer has had a “Droid” branded phone. So what kind of criteria is there for being a DROID?

Since the D1 I thought Droid meant locked bootloaders, but now with Samsung it will mean “No, or Slow updates”… LOL

    Drooiiid!

    • Yea, no software support and that fugly Touchwiz interface make me want one… not.

      • Step 1: Root. Step 2: Install LauncherPro. Step 3: ???? Step 4: Profit.

Touchwiz in not a factor. No software support… leave that to the hackers. I’ve been running Froyo on my Fascinate for months. The software support is a verizon issue, not a samsung issue. Why deny yourself of the best hardware out there?
