When the HTC Thunderbolt finally sees an official Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) update, it might have a new video chatting tab built into its People app. As you can see from the screenshot above, the leaked GB definitely has the option to filter your contacts by those that have video chatting capabilities. We were sort of expecting this built-in feature to come pre-loaded on the device along with Skype Video back at launch, but as we all know now, Skype has been delayed indefinitely and that never happened.
I did load up Fring on my device, just to see if this would be able to pull from that and appears to not work that way. Could it have ties to Google Talk? Maybe it is just waiting on Skype? I have a feeling we will know in the very near future.
Cheers @0mie!

I have skype on my TBolt and it works flawlessly! Qik also works good however very glitchy. Fring works too, oh wow look a built in video chat option! Now which one will I use to talk to the one person who actually has a front facing camera!
ive been using the skype video on my TB since engadget had a link on someone who actually made it work. it works perfectlly, 4G, 3G and Wifi. its works better than Tango. but would be nice to have an official copy.
I already use my front facing camera with oovoo, yahoo, fring and the unofficial skype with video chat so i can wait till the official rom is giving out over the air insteed of rooting my phone
I must express my appreciation to the writer just for bailing me out of this challenge. Because of scouting throughout the the net and getting suggestions which are not powerful, I believed my entire life was over. Existing devoid of the answers to the difficulties you have sorted out as a result of the write-up is a crucial case, and ones which might have adversely damaged my career if I had not encountered your web blog. Your own personal natural talent and kindness in playing with all things was vital. I don’t know what I would’ve done if I had not come across such a subject like this. I can at this point look forward to my future. Thank you very much for your impressive and result oriented guide. I will not think twice to refer the blog to any individual who should receive guidelines on this subject.

i know this post isnt about the GPS on the thunderbolt but does anyone know why this still isnt working? i thought the update last week was supposed to fix this. I was standing outside with a completely clear sky and clear view of the sky and my GPS will not find my location. Anyone know anything about this or know where i can find out more about this? thanks
Yay, finally video chat and use for the front facing camera.

i have my skype friends list synced with my phones contact list. so would i b able to video chat with skype users if i use the video chat tab? cause not many ppl have phones with front facing cameras so that feature would kinda b useless. more people use skype

Hopefully google talk and skype…i love both….but i’d like sense.com more 🙁 i know, i say it too much but it is such a feature if you have it…
Wonder if Tango would work.
Yep tango works, use it all the time on my bolt.
Out of curiosity how stable is this build, I do not have a Tbolt but I wonder if HTC will beat Moto with its gingerbread update

video chatting built into a phone with a front facing camera? that just makes too much sense
it makes way too much sense. which is why i think verizon will pull it out of the update the day before its released.
I’m just going to wait until the official release is out, but it’s good to hear about this stuff ahead of time!
you’ll be waiting along time my friend…..a loooooooong time
