It’s not often that you get to merge personal passions into a professional life, but that’s what Kellen did when he launched Droid Life in 2009. After working years of unsatisfying jobs in the medical and property management fields, he took a risk to try and create an online community while playing with the coolest gadgets on the planet each day, a risk that has turned out to be incredibly rewarding. Outside of Droid Life, Kellen is your typical Portlander who drinks way too much good beer, complains often about the Trail Blazers, and can be found out on the streets for a run, rain or shine.

  • Personally I got tired of this BS from Google. I called to day and cancelled my order. They said it might ship tomorrow but they already screwed over plenty of people who ordered on day 1. I won’t be pre-ordering anything from Google anymore.

  • I lucked out because of this. My friend pre ordered two. One for himself and one for his girlfriend whose birthday is coming up. Well since he can get another one in just a few days now, I got to buy his second one, and he is ordering another for her. Score!

  • I just got an email from google saying all orders made prior to July 11 were going to ship out before the end of this week and are being upgraded to overnight delivery. All preorders made after july 11 are shipping out next week (according to the same email)

  • Now Google’s phones are down and I cant even call to complain. My friend ordered his on July 17th and got it today. I ordered the day of the keynote and still nothing. WTF… Does anyone have the number for me to call them off hand?

  • Just wanted the DL crew to know my 16GB N7 just got here! Haven’t even opened the package yet. Good luck to everyone else receiving theirs today or within the next week!

  • Hosed indeed, I was thinking to myself on Friday “Oh that’s nice, they will ship it out early next week and i’ll have it this week to load up my apps and content for a trip next weekend”.

  • Instead of pre-ordering, I bought from Sams Club. 246 bucks, and I’ve had my 16GB Nexus 7 for 3-5 business days already. Newbs.

  • So, I know somebody who ordered an 8GB and has not received a single word from google. I finally found ONE gamestop with a 16GB in stock (only one in STL with any in stock) otherwise I’d still be waiting for my 16GB to ship.

  • WTF Google?! I ordered my 16g on June 28th without any damn bells or whistles attached to delay my order – didn’t want a case so didn’t order one; didn’t add personalization as I can do that myself. Where the friggin hell is my order Google!? Why the hell are people who ordered two weeks after me getting priority in line. No charges on my CC, no activity in Wallet or Play, no email notification, and not even a hug or kiss to make it better. Don’t you love me anymore Google?

  • Can’t decide if I want to drop $250 bucks on one. I really want it for the games and to be able to get updates as fast as possible, but I don’t really think that justifies the price. (For me anyway)

  • wow, google isn’t even answering the phones right now, and their “call me” feature isn’t available either.

    • Step 1 – Admit you have a problem and ask others for help!

    • Same here, and I’d also like to add, where the F is my shipping information? Why has the charge been pending and then disappeared twice? Why hasn’t Kellex fixed it for me!?!?

      • mine was never even pending as far as i know.. also no shipping information. only confirmation email. i just fired off an email at google customer service.. this is getting ridiculous.

        • Yeah, my phone sat for an hour on hold this morning before I spoke to someone…no one has any answers. All they do is fire off a list of pre-written excuses that seem to contradict each other. The best part is that the orders are in “limbo”, such that even though there is no shipping #, no charge, and no indication of their progress, they are “too far along” to be canceled. Lol Google.

          • i tried calling two other times today and had to call it quits after a half hour on hold. it’s crazy. can’t even cancel the order if i wanted to.

        • Same here, I had it in pending on my card, now the charge is nowhere to be found….WTF

    • Yep. Same Here. Ordered within minutes of the Play Store allowing orders on the 27th. I’ve got no ‘shipping’ update at all. Disgraceful.

      I’ve only ever owned ‘Nexus’ phones and I’ve bought them all from Google; starting with the G1. Loyal customers deserve better.

    • I just called them today and cancelled my order. They told me it might ship tomorrow, I told them to just cancel. I also ordered it on the 27th.

  • Tax and Shipping on the 8GB (only available on the play store) make it near comparable in price to the 16GB with no tax and free shipping from various online retailers. I have no idea why anyone would purchase the 8gb model straight from google. They really borked this launch.
