For current owners or potential buyers of a Chromecast, Google is providing a few offers for you through a dedicated Chromecast Offers site, but since we have covered most of them already in past posts, we want to quickly point out that you can grab a HD movie rental through Google Play, for absolutely free.
If you plan on picking up a Chromecast between now and mid April (or already own a Chromecast), simply head on over to the Offers page, click “Claim” on the movie rental promotion, then choose whichever movie you would like to rent on Google Play. The rental credit is applied at checkout.
It appears 2013’s $35 dongle investment is still paying off to this day.

I have 6 chrome casts, better get to renting and watching quickly.
Another great heads up from DL, way to go guys. Last time it was 2 free movies to own, now it’s 2 free movies to rent, cool !
It doesn’t work in Ireland. US exclusive?
hmmm, Birdman or Gone Girl ?? (no spoilers)
My quick analysis is that Birdman is a more impressive cinematic achievement while Gone Girl is more entertaining. I don’t think you can go wrong either way.
Can I stack these credits like the $6 deal if I have multiple chromecasts or do I have to choose a movie at the time of selecting the deal?
yup, i just did it, i have 3 chromecast & got the credit from all of them
Didn’t work for me.
gotta watch then you can redeem the next one it looks like.
Does it have to be a rental or do they give you the credit money so you can use it on apps or something like that? Not home at the momment which is why I ask.
Yes, this particular deal has to be used towards a movie rental.
Is this the same deal as a couple months ago? If so I cashed in on all three Chromecasts. Its a shame it can’t be redeemed for the Nexus Player, so far that’s not been as fortuitous.
Thanks for the heads up Tim, I was just asking the wife what we should do tonight and she suggested seeing a movie, this works!
Well that just made my day I just bought a Chromecast for my mom today.
Does this work multiple times if you have more than one Chromecast? Or once per Play account?
Yesss! I did this with the $6 offers in the past.
This one doesn’t work that way unfortunately.
Well that’s when you use another gmail account for the other Chromecast.
With all the Google credit and offers I’ve gotten from Google, the chromecast has paid for itself and more.
Amen brother
It is almost like free money.
I agree. No wonder they stay on the top list for consumer satisfaction. (see ranking like http://www.allreport.org/media-streamer/ for instance…)

The amount of value this little dongle has provided has been downright staggering. Easily one of the more important tech offerings of the last decade.
I’ve not rented through Google Play before. Is it possible to select a movie and watch it later or do I have to watch it immediately?
Not 100% sure but I think you get 30 days from the purchase date to watch it for 2 days.
Nope, you can rent, then usually have 30 days to start watching it. Then, usually 2 days to watch however many times you want. You can also download it to your device for watching offline.
When or if you download it, is it basically yours to watch whenever you want?
You typically have 30 days to start it and 48 hrs to finish watching it.
Yep, they give you 48hrs
