  • What I would like from the new Tablet is 8GB of RAM, 6GB minimum. Since we’re not seeing this Tablet any time soon, it should be paired up with the Cortex-A73 Processor (due to release in 2017) along with their unannounced Tegra P1 SoC with 256-core Pascal GPU. A minimum 64GB storage option to 256GB.

To be honest though, I rather see them make an untethered HMD for VR. Get us the Shield VR, Nvidia! OLED 4K display for each eye using the Pascal architecture on a SoC.

  • Tegra X1, 4 to 6 gigs ram, big battery, big storage, and bring back LTE and the stylus (with a slot to hold it).
I got my kid the original shield table with LTE. It’s a great tablet but I’ve been holding out for the X1 update. The K1 was a letdown. Sure it’s cheap but with no LTE it limits the usefulness to me while on the road (I really don’t want to also carry a mobile hotspot if I can help it.

  • basically i just want a 7 to 8 ” tablet just like the shield, the same in every way but have it look like a big HTC one M7 (aluminum build) and have IR blaster and be able to run dolphin flawlessly , this is all i ask , come on nvidia stop wating time with the self driving car meme and get to building it

  • “For me, I’d like an 8β€³ display, Tegra X1, 4GB of RAM, Android N, and a big ol’ battery. Yup, that’s what I want.”
this plus an metal build something that is identical to the HTC one M7 from the front and has an IR blaster and retaind the SD card slot and stylus of the original shield

  • I don’t understand how a “gaming” tablet can not have wifi n when my 2013 phone does…

  • “For me, I’d like an 8β€³ display, Tegra X1, 4GB of RAM, Android N, and a big ol’ battery. Yup, that’s what I want.” <- like he said πŸ˜€

  • I’m hoping to get rid of all my micro USB charges and have only USB C all around the house so USB C would be a must for me

  • Dream tablet would be 12″ 2560×1600 AMOLED display, Front facing stereo speakers with 2 HTC 10 style subwoofers on the bottom, and another 2 speakers on the back like the idol 4 line, Tegra X1, 6gb of ram, 256gb of storage with micro SD, and near stock Android.

  • Since it seems like no new nexus tablet, beef up the internals and call it a day. Shield already gets quick updates. Update ram and processor along with battery and price it at $199 like the K1

  • I’d start with the X1, 4 GB ram, 64 GB internal memory, and 8″ display. I would also like a redesigned power button that’s easier to navigate.

  • A lot of people disagree with me, but I like my tablets in full… 10.1 inches please. 8 and 9 inches just doesn’t seem necessary with a 5.7inch screen on the Nexus 6P. I read a lot of research papers on my tablet and the screen real estate is much appreciated. Please and thank you.

    • Why not get a pixel c tablet? They’ve gone on sale already once if i remember correctly and the square root of 2 aspect ratio would be great for reading research papers since it’s the same ratio as paper.

    • I’m hoping they don’t increase the size. I can still fit this thing in the front pocket of my khakis. Handy for a lot of reasons like when I want to play a few rounds of my favorite game in the bathroom at work. πŸ™‚

Faster processor, more RAM, more disk space, IR blaster, built-in Chrome-cast and, what the heck–how ’bout an FM receiver just to piss off the competition and prove once again that NVIDIA ROCKS!!!

  • OH Nvidia Nexus Tablet, Nvidia Nexus Tablet, Nvidia Nexus Tablet…….please please please!

  • The k1 would be perfect if it just had more storage options. They banked too much on SD cards. Every time I try and format my SD as internal storage it causes lag issues as well as some apps just not working right.

    • I’ll admit I don’t use my Shield tab for much more than a few games, but I haven’t noticed any difference in lag after I formatted my SD card as internal storage.

        • While I don’t want to besmirch the good name of sandisk, I’ve had 3 of their 32GB uhs-1 microSD cards and 1 64GB uhs-1 cards go bad on me and the first indication was the speed started slowing way down, then the card would un-mount itself. Sandisk was really good about replacing them each time, but it is possible your card is going bad.

          • It did just go bad on me, replacement is installed. Personally I think the format as internal option is too rough on SD cards they aren’t meant to have data written to them constantly like that. I just have it set up at portable storage atm, no issues that way

  • Still love my Shield tab. Would just like to see an IR blaster, AMOLED display, and bigger/better battery life, along with a 2016 spec bump, of course.

    • Why are people still hung up on IR blasters, especially on a tablet that you are not going to use to fool around in a bar or something? I control my Samsung HDTV, Onkyo stereo, Tivo, and Sony Bluray player all from a single app on either my Nexus 7 2013 or my Droid Turbo 2. Most modern electronics have IP based control nowadays.

      • I have kids, kids lose and/or break everything they touch. After having an IR blaster on my phone, it has been a godsend so I’m not searching for the remote literally every time I go to watch TV. Using the Anymote app in the play store, it’s basically a Harmony remote that I can configure macros for as well, so I have have one single page/remote that controls all of my equipment perfectly. My speaker bar, although it supports CEC, so I can control it through my TV (which I can control by IP), but only for volume and not for changing inputs or adjusting sound modes. Same thing for when I get in bed and want to watch TV, but the wife is sleeping on the remote or it’s buried/lost somewhere. Also, I have some window and floor fans that have IR remotes, so I can control those from my phone as well. It’s incredibly handy just around my house, and going from my One M8 to a Nexus 6P shortly, I would like to have a tab of my own with an IR blaster to offset this loss a bit.

        • I’m having a very hard time resisting the snarky response to “wife sleeping on remote”. Actually, I think that is snarky enough and let’s people use their imagination.

  • Nice, I hope they stick with that size since I LOVE my Shield Tablet K1, only complaint really is that the way the speaker grills are they trap specs of dust I have to blow out with a can of air sometimes. That and 16GB internal is unfortunate, though at least adaptable storage exists now. Nvidia is one of the only companies making good, smaller tablets and updating them with near-stock Android, that plus the awesome magnet cover!

  • 8.9″ Nexus 9-style/size would be ideal IMO. Type-C would be absolutely awesome but I guess I am going to give up on ever seeing a high-end Android tablet that’s not the Pixel C for the forseeable future. Samsung’s Tab S2 refresh is a total joke and that’s likely to be the only other “high end” Android tablet release this year.

I bet this Nvidia will still feature 16GB storage + microSD slot too.

    • Pixel c is pretty swank though, with the developer discount code it’s hard to beat. Even without the discount, it’s a really really nice piece of hardware
