Kellen

It’s not often that you get to merge personal passions into a professional life, but that’s what Kellen did when he launched Droid Life in 2009. After working years of unsatisfying jobs in the medical and property management fields, he took a risk to try and create an online community while playing with the coolest gadgets on the planet each day, a risk that has turned out to be incredibly rewarding. Outside of Droid Life, Kellen is your typical Portlander who drinks way too much good beer, complains often about the Trail Blazers, and can be found out on the streets for a run, rain or shine.

  • Verizon and Samsung have been working pretty good at least for me. My Note 5 got marshmallow pretty quickly and now my tab S2 has it. Times are good for this Verizon user.

  • Suck an egg Samsung… Where the French is Marshmallow for wi-fi version?

  • Holy Crap, Verizon Tab S2 updated before the WiFi only version? That is a first I have seen.

    • Annoying thing is the German and NZ wifi versions have had MM for a long time. Not sure why on earth the US version still is on 5.1.1…Also why so many different versions?

  • Where the hell is ANY update for my Tab Pro 8.4? I haven’t seen one update since buying it over two years ago.

    • AFAIK, all of the Tab Pro models, other than the 12.2, are EOL. The Tab Pro 12.2 and Note Pro (wi-fi & LTE) did get Lollipop. The Tab S 8.4 and 10.5 appear to be getting left behind on 5.0.2 as well. Samsung’s tablet support, especially wi-fi tabs, is pitiful.

      • I’m still on 4.4.2 since day one. It’s a shame. I want to put CM on there, but I just don’t feel like taking the time. The tablet still rocks, it’s just incredibly behind in updates. Should’ve known better when I bought a Samsung tablet.

  • Glad to see the update out but Samsung took a step back with the Tab S2, IMO. But that’s okay by me, makes me content with my Tab S for longer. I prefer the bigger higher-resolution screen, wider format, bigger battery, etc. Already have Marshmallow with CM13 anyway.

    • I have both, and I don’t really see any performance issues. The aspect ratio does take some getting used to, but I’m good with it.

      • I have a Tab S 10.5 32GB wi-fi and I simply love the screen and formfactor. My only complaints are the undersized battery, underpowered SoC and the capacitive buttons are too easy to hit. Even with TW and Samsung’s horrible support, I’d still buy a widescreen Tab S refresh in a minute, especially if it had Type-C.

      • I’m sure the Tab S2 is a great tablet, I just use my Tab S primarily for videos and comics so the more rectangular AR works better for me. At least now I won’t have the desire to upgrade for a while longer.

  • Are Samsung and Verizon the good guys now? I don’t understand. What is happening to my tech world! I thought it was Tmo and Nexus I was to “root” (get it!) for?! Someone tell me what to do now?!

    • Amazing that the Verizon version is getting Marshmallow before the US Samsung WiFi version. WTF
