  • Am I the only one who wants more color variants, or something exciting? not too crazy but this continuous color scheme is boring. And Im sure, like always, all colors wont be available to all carriers, which ive never understood about Samsung….

  • I heard microSD expandable storage and that’s what caught my eye. I hate that my Note 5 doesn’t have that. I keep a ton of media on my device, so being able to have an SD slot is music to my ears. Definitely will be ordering one on release day, then ebaying my Note 5 to recover some of the cost of my new Note 7!

  • IF I knew for certain that samsung would get a device updated, such as the note series, within a month or even 2 months, but consistently, to current android after each release, i would be happy to get back into samsung.

  • “Oh, and maybe the most exciting spec, IP68 water and dust resistance…”

The reason why I didn’t get the S7E on an impulse buy. I figured it was only a matter of time before they gave the Note this feature.

Blass also tweets that the device will be available in Silver, Blue, and Black.

    ???????

  • If the Note 7 has an IP68 rating, I’m ditching my S7 edge and picking the Note up!

  • If they did on screen keys and disabled the hardware ones i would think about this phone. Sigh…. just a piece of software away, but left disappointed every year.

  • For the first time, I’m going to join the Note line this year. Let’s see what the fuss is all about.

    • Likewise man this or the new Nexus. But that waterproofness might be the deal breaker.

      • Exactly the same reason here. I like ip68 rating on my phone. I think every phone should have it.

  • It’ll be specced out, that’s a given. I wonder if it’ll be running the 820 like the S7. Snapdragon’s new chip can’t be out yet.

  • I’m hoping Verizon allows an annual upgrade on this device so I can upgrade from my Note 5. I’m ready!

  • I will consider it if it can be rooted, if not, no amount of specs can get me to buy it.

    • it wont be rootable (see note 4, note 5). Once rooted, things like samsung pay will not work either.. Having the Note 5, is there a need to root your device anymore these days? Nova launcher and all you can do whatever you want.

      • T-Mo Note 4 and 5 were rootable, but I don’t anticipate this will be after seeing the S7/S7 Edge fiasco. And yes; decent Ad Blocking (Adguard sucks), ChromePie, and some other audio and display control mods require much more than a new launcher. My wife has a Note 5 and I a 6P.. much prefer my 6P with root.

        • I hear ya, used to run roms and custimze all and all, just found that the “extra” I was getting out of the mods, wasnt so so over the top. And yes, I meant how it wasnt so easy to root, and the verizon note 5, still unrootable

      • That’s cool, do you keep them all on belt clips like a super nerd utility Batman belt? =p

Anyways, your S7 Edge isn’t the US/Snapdragon variant, and therefore doesn’t count to me (since I’m in the US). Which is why I made the comment in the first place.

        • Had the snapdragon s7 edge sold it for the exynos one. So much better. Yes I have a custom made cell phone utility belt

          • I require pics of said utility belt in use.

The Exynos is better for battery life and performance, but I wouldn’t be willing to give up WiFi calling, VoLTE, and Band 12 support (it technically has band 12, but won’t work until VoLTE is supported on T-Mo) for it, so too many trade-offs for the Exynos version in the US. Also no Samsung Pay in the US either even for non-root users.

  • Was hoping for a flat 5.8″ 4500mAh battery with a better camera. Hopefully the 6gb ram is the new 10nm version which should help with battery life.

  • Nothing new here, same old bloated lagfest called touchwiz, and you’ll be needing for N for 6 months or more..

  • Here’s to hoping it’s not only an edge version, oh, and have an exynos process instead of a snapdragon.

    • The edge version of phones I’ve held in the past have been more difficult to hole. I’m using a Note 3. I really would like to have a Note 7 without edge…

  • I wonder how Samsung is going to explain the fact that they skipped over the Note 6 name and Went with a Note 7? I realize that this is just a name but a lot of people are going to be questioning this move on Samsung’s part..

    • this is why the numbered naming system for something with yearly updates is problematic. what’s going to happen in 5 years. the note 12 sounds pretty stupid. all companies just need to go with non numbered naming.

as far as skipping 6, i’m pretty sure people will get all riled up for like a week and then get over it. the general public tends to just own a “galaxy” or “note” or “samsung” or “iphone”

      • I think it’s all silly… Why couldn’t they just call it the ‘2016 Galaxy Note’ or ‘2016 Galaxy S’ and be done with it..

    • It’s publicity. Good/bad publicity still brings in customers. “So good it’s a generation ahead of the curve” OK I say that while laughing. But great marketing opportunity for Sammy.

  • This is shaping up to be a monster phone and contender for phone of the year.. I love everything I’m seeing spec wise, just hope they don’t force the curved display on us and make both a curved and flat variant of the phone..

    • According to recent rumors it looks like it’s just only going to be a curved screen .

      • I’ll believe it when I see it plus there’s been different reports when it comes to the screen size.. Some say 5’7, some say 5’8.. I think it’s both with the edge variant being the bigger of the two..

        • Well whether these rumors are true or not the Samsung Galaxy Note will be on par with the best phone of the year as they always are

          • Very true, just don’t think it’s wise to force the a curved display on pple.. Not everyone’s a fan of it.. It will def attract new pple if they go that route but they’ll also lose a lot of loyal note power users..

          • You’re definitely entitled to your opinion however I don’t completely agree. Last year I actually passed up the Note 5 and went with the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus just because of the edge design. Obviously Samsung feels that there’s a market for these curved phones. But at the same time I also understand your point and you’re right not everyone is going to agree with it but I also think this is due in large part because this is still a fairly new design and people need to get used to it before they can fall in love with it.

          • For me it’s diff.. The images came off warped where the display was curved and I also noticed there was a glare from any light on the curved portion of the display.. Also, it’s impossible to find good screen protectors and it’s harder to hold.. If they can fix the majority of those problems I’d be all for it.. Screen protector isn’t as important but the others are. If the Note 7 comes with a slight curve and isn’t as pronounced as the S7 Edge, I’d be ok with that too..

          • Yelp I gave up a s6 edge plus for a s7 active and its the best thing I ever did. Will I get the note 7 if the screen is not curved yelp.

          • Samsung definitely has something going for them with the Curve screen for the simple fact that this year’s brand new iPhone Is also rumored to have a curved display.

I personally love the design of the curved display so much to the point I actually passed up The Galaxy Note 5 and spent more money on the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus just For the Edge design. I understand it takes some getting used to and it’s not for everyone but trust me I know people that love that particular design and I’m one of them.

          • For me personally I wasn’t experiencing any of these issues at all. My only and biggest concern about the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus and Note 5 was the fact that it didn’t come with a removable battery and SD card support things that I absolutely love about my past Galaxy devices. I can however tell you from my own personal experiences that I’m getting for better battery performance compared to the devices where I could remove the battery myself and swap it out with a brand new battery.

          • An issue I have with those curved displays is the astronomical cost/difficulty in replacing them if they crack. Non curved phones can cost $200 ish Galaxy S7 replacement is over $400 most places.

          • I would never ever spend that kind of money replacing my screen. $400 is a nice down payment towards a brand new phone. That’s total Overkill.

If I was going to go that route I could spend $175 on an insurance replacement phone which in most cases is going to be refurbished and sometimes even brand new depending on the circumstances of course

          • I agree, but I’ve had friends who were in that position. Didnt have insurance and had a messed up screen. I helped them shop around and saw some tear down video’s from ifixitit.com, but still $400 was as low as I foudn a repairshop to do the work, and the DIY process was way too complex.

Vs if they had a non curved screen I’ve seen the repair costs be a bit over $100

          • For the larger Galaxy Note phones it’s anywhere between $250 and $300.At least that’s the prices I’ve been quoted at a few different places.

          • The issue is, from what I’ve seen anyway. Is that the digitizer and the LCD screen almost always break at once, or it is HIGHLY likely that it will break when replacing th LCD. That’s what bumps it from that $229 pricing to the north of $400 I was talking about,

          • I had to deal with Samsung “service” years ago. I shipped them a phone with an obviously short with the micro USB port. They shipped the same phone back to me saying all it needed was a software reset. Funny, when I plugged it in it had the same problem as when I sent it to them.

    • Lol, phone of the year would be next N6, and nothing new here, same old bloated lagfest called touchwiz, and you’ll be needing for N for 6 months or more..

      • You nexus owners are starting to sound like iPhone owners.. Always feeling the need to tell everyone you own one or how much better it is than every other skinned android.. We get it, the nexus line is great, hell, I am currently using the 6P right now but I’m just bored with it.. Plus, if you’ve actually used TW lately you’d realize that it’s light years better than what it was before.. So you can stay happy with your Nexus and I’ll get rid of mine or keep it as a backup once the Note 7 is available.

        • Just ignore tiny Tim’s Peewee. He’s nothing more than a troll who uses a Samsung device but won’t admit it.

      • There is no possible way that this phone could lag more than my 6P. And that’s after 2 hard resets and a device replacement. Almost as worthless as my Galaxy Nexus, but at least this battery gets me 9 hours instead of the GNex’s 4.

Really want to love it, but I can’t, and Google’s only support recommendation is “it’s not us, it’s you.”

    • Having been a curved screen hater for a long time. It would be OK to have a curved screen if there was a good tempered glass solution out there for the phone. Have the gs7 edge and I love the phone!! (Although no tempered glass scares me!) There really isn’t a decent tempered glass out there for it. I also have the note 5. Really wouldn’t care either way if it was curved if it could be properly protected.

    • Same phone as my S7 Edge so I’ll be fine til the S8 Edge when they implement 4K.

      • I’ve had the 6P since October and was tempted to get the S7 Edge but couldn’t get use to the Edge display.. There’s really good deals on unlocked version now (I’m on AT&T, can’t do carrier branded phones) but doesn’t make sense to buy it since the Note 7 is little over a month away.. If there’s only an edge variant of the Note 7, I’ll get it and give it a try..

    • Every note thus far has been exactly this. But because it isnt a nexus, noone votes it phone of the year

  • Come on a Samsung post Would not be complete without TIm P Claiming how much TouchWiz sucks. LOL

    • guess I was the victim of the Tim P experience this time.. lol.. He left a lovely comment on my post not knowing I own a 6P and cant wait to get rid of it because it’s so boring..

      • Yeah I was the one laughing out loud when just a few short weeks ago he accused me of being an Apple fanboy and anyone who follows me knoes I cannot stand Apple.

        • I’m none of the above, I just get what I think is the best at the time.. My last phones have been the iPhone 5s, HTC M7, LG G2, Note 4, Note 5, Nexus 6P..

          • That is exactly my main phone lineup these past few years! Iphone 5s to m7 to g2 to note 4 to note 5/6p now s7 edge

          • So you’re a Nexus fanboy by your logic then? And I’m bored with Nexus devices because you have to flash a rom to do something as simple as have a clear all button in my recent apps tab and no functionality to take advantage of the scree real estate..

      • Hey Tim! My wife has the S7 Edge and is constantly in the pool with my kids. Is it really safe to bring in for taking photos and such? I doubt she would actually hold it under water all the time, but she refuses to take it in, for fear of something happening. Most I tested it was running it under the kitchen sink.

  • My decision whether to upgrade is solely based whether there is a non-edge version.

  • Sammobile posted Snapdragon 821 for the SoC. And Samsung made a big hoopla about a 6GB 10nm LPDDR4 RAM module earlier this year so I’d be pretty sure that’s what will be in there. Note 3 was the first 3GB flagship handset and the Edge + and Note 5 were the first mainstream 4GB handsets, so I’d imagine the will bring 6 GB to the Note 7. A true shame about that Edge screen, however. And I was still hoping for a display size closer to 6″.

    • i am kind of hoping they just use their exynos SOC instead of the snapdragon for the note since they seem to be better at optimizing for it.

      • keep hoping since Samsung is back in bed with Qualcomm. The us banking industry and the carriers love the added security that Qualcomm brings to the table.

    • Hope the SD proc is wrong. The versions with exynos with the s7’s performed significantly better.

      • but the radios in the s6 and s7 with exynos sucked. Lower signal … A s7 with a SD will get better signal than a s7 with exynos. I had 2 on my desk side by side.

        • I started out with a T-Mobile s7 and now have an exynos “duos” s7 edge and I’ve noticed no difference in radios but HAVE noticed a HUGE difference in performance and battery life.

  • Definitely ready to see this in action….I like my S7 Edge, but I like the Note series as the pen has been helpful on multiple occasions when I had my Note 3.

    • While I’m not a fan of TW, I have more of a problem with their hardware reliability. I’ve never had a Samsung product that didn’t have issues, which is why I don’t consider them for my use.

      • Trust me I’m speaking from experience here and I’m having the exact opposite experience as I have had by far the best overall luck was Samsung Hardware. In fact I was using all the other brands before I even touched anything made by Samsung so I’m not only speaking from experience but I’m also speaking with no bias.

        • Are you saying I’m biased because I won’t give Samsung my business due to bad experiences with them? Why would anyone continue to give a company business when they continually have issues with them? And I wasn’t only speaking about mobile devices like phones and tablets, I have also had issues with their TVs, DVD and Blu-ray players, and every one I’ve owned had issues bad enough they needed to be either repaired or replaced.

For the record, I’ve owned mobile devices from Samsung, HTC, Motorola, Asus, Toshiba, and Huawei. I’m only missing LG and Sony from the big boys. I don’t have have any particular loyalty to any OEM (I used to for Motorola but that’s done now). If I hadn’t had issues with their other products I would’ve chalked it up to bad luck, but in my case, I’ve never had any luck with Samsung no matter what product I used.

          • I never made any Claim about you being biased whatsoever. I nearly said I wasn’t. I means me and not you.I also understand that not everyone is having the same exact user experiences However I truly believe you are the exception and not the rule.

I also totally and completely understand your frustration will Samsung as I had the same exact user experience with HTC and had a very hard time recommending HTC to anyone for a very long time.

          • Sorry, to what you said the wrong way. I left HTC because they seemed to be going in a direction I didn’t like. When you needed a huge extended battery to get through a full day, it’s time to move onto something else. I’ve explained why I left Samsung. Motorola I always stayed away from due to Motoblur, when they dropped it I hopped on board, but now with there actions after being bought by Lenovo, it’s Motorola only in name. My Huawei 6p seems good, but since the majority of their devices are GSM only and I only get service through Verizon they’re a no go, pretty much the same with Sony. With LG, I don’t know. I really liked the G2(except for the rear buttons), but I’d already went with a Droid Maxx (my first Moto Android device) so I figured I’d wait for the follow-up. The problem was I was never really as wowed by any if the follow-ups as I was by the G2.

At this point I’ll most likely be sticking with Nexus devices. I like that the updates are guaranteed and faster, and found I prefer stock over skinned. If you guys like Samsung and have good experiences, great. But I should also point out these aren’t limited to my experiences either. It also has to do with phones and other consumer electronics owned by family members as well. Maybe I’ll give them another chance some day, but it hasn’t come yet.

        • Two completely different experiences .. it’s almost like you can’t generate a real decision about longevity based one two users experiences. Shocking….

          • Not true I don’t base my opinion on how other people feel about anything I go out and take a look at what’s available before making an honest buying decision. If I was to take everyone’s word for everything on this website then I would be missing out on some great devices.

I totally realize that not everyone is having the same exact user experience and I wasn’t arguing this point.

The end result is that not everyone is going to have the same exact opinion I get that and totally understand this. This is also why I tell people who ask me what the best phone on the market is to go out to the store and try everything available and from that point make an honest buying decision. Anyone who argues with this is definitely a fanboy

          • What? Why are you replying to me? I was simply saying you cannot generate results based on a sample pool of two. No clue what you’re going on about…

          • “Trust me I’m speaking from experience here and I’m having the exact opposite experience as I have had by far the best overall luck was Samsung Hardware. In fact I was using all the other brands before I even touched anything made by Samsung so I’m not only speaking from experience but I’m also speaking with no bias.”

This is your reply above which seems to indicate that because one other person (you) have a better experience one can now “trust” you because of that experience. I don’t care one way or the other, it’s just silly to say you aren’t trying to sway opinions when using statements like “trust me”.

          • There was no need for the copy and paste because I’m not denying anything I said or even how I said. You are giving your two cents now I’m giving my two cents. I’m not even looking for an argument believe it or not.

          • No, I am not giving my “two cents” because that would mean I am giving an opinion. Are you arguing that a pool of two experiences about a particular device are somehow more than anecdotal?

          • I wasn’t arguing anything. I was merely giving my feedback on my real life user experience that’s it nothing more nothing less. Isn’t it possible to do this without argument of any kind? Now maybe I should have been a little bit more careful in my wording because for you to assume anything else is pretty ridiculous on your part.

          • OK bro .. whatever you wanna believe. I think you need to think about what the phrase “trust me” means, in that case.

  • There’s also a possible video leak of the Note 7 UI floating around, for the record.

Spec wise, looks great. That iris scanner rumor is becoming more and more like the Apple Television rumor every year
