DEAL: Amazon has the Samsung Gear 360 for $280 ($69 Off) (Updated)

Samsung’s Gear 360, the 360-degree VR camera that was first introduced months ago but just today launched in the US, already seems to have a steep discount at Amazon. Normally priced at $349.99, Amazon appears to have a load in stock with Prime shipping at just $280.30. That’s a solid $69 price reduction and easily the best price you will find on the internet.

In case you were curious, Amazon lists this as model number SM-C200NZWAXAR, which is the same version Samsung, Best Buy, and B&H Photo all are selling for $349. So, if you have been curious about Samsung’s Gear 360, you may want to jump on this price before it’s gone.

UPDATE: Welp, it looks like all parties involved in selling the Gear 360 weren’t happy with Amazon’s $280 price on launch day. The price has been jacked back up to the full $349.

Kellen

It’s not often that you get to merge personal passions into a professional life, but that’s what Kellen did when he launched Droid Life in 2009. After working years of unsatisfying jobs in the medical and property management fields, he took a risk to try and create an online community while playing with the coolest gadgets on the planet each day, a risk that has turned out to be incredibly rewarding. Outside of Droid Life, Kellen is your typical Portlander who drinks way too much good beer, complains often about the Trail Blazers, and can be found out on the streets for a run, rain or shine.

  • Sharing the pics and video is the biggest pain. Facebook is great for sharing 360 pics. YouTube is good for sharing 360 video. However, the video must be opened in the Youtube app. Embeds and using the Youtube browser url will not work correctly. Gear 360 video should be viewed in minimum 720p resolution in the Youtube app. I can upload 360 pics to Google Maps for review or Google Maps photos.

  • Will this thing be able to be mounted to anything other than the included tripod? I wonder if I can secure it to my Typhoon Q500 and take aerial 360 video.

  • Is this thing tied to any particular galaxy phones like the VR headsets or can it be used without needing a phone?

    • you can use it w/o a phone. they have PC software you can use. Having a phone is nice with the preview but not necessary

  • These are pretty awesome, but I can’t help but think there’s a new version coming soon, with so many new companies making affordable 360 cameras now.
