The Android 7.0 Nougat site just went live! That’s a thing that we care about, because well, we also think that Google may push out stable Nougat today to Nexus phones.
Also note, at the bottom, that Google confirms that the LG V20 will be the first to run Android Nougat out of the box. In other words, the new HTC Nexus phones aren’t going to be here until after that phone arrives.
For now, though, the official countdown begins for factory images and OTA .zip files. Keep it here, folks, this is going to be a fun day for Nexus owners.
Update: Google says that the over-the-air (OTA) updates for Nexus devices (Nexus 6, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus 9, Nexus Player, and Pixel C) should start as early as today but could take several weeks to complete. If you are a part of the Android Beta program, you too will see the update to the final version.
Update 2: Here is a compiled list of all the changes coming to Android 7.0.
Update 3: Nexus 6P beta users (including both of our devices) are seeing the update now! Head into Settings>About phone>System updates and hammer on “Check for update.”
Update 4: Nexus 5X now too! TIP – if you want the update on your Nexus, just go join the Android Beta now. Updates are showing up there as I type this.

Still no update for the N6.
I was part of the beta program and updated my Pixel c today. The marshmallow boot animation is still running. Anyone else notice this?

Downloaded on my 5x through the beta as suggested but now its stuck in a boot loop before finishing the install. I have no idea what to do. I’m not rooted or anything. Figured since this the official update everything would work fine but it didn’t

yeah. ended up wiping everything from recovery and then N loaded up once it finished. All good now

Going to hold until the factory images are released and there is a way to hack the wifi hotspot feature, e.g., modifying build.prop without rooting. If anyone knows the method, I’d appreciate a link. Thanks!
Can’t modify build.prop without root as it resides in the system partition which is Read-only without root.

No. They said the assistant would come with Allo. Any assistant integration was rumored to come with the new Nexus devices (and if it were to come to older devices, it wouldn’t be before it was announced on the new ones).
Roger that. Thanks! I was expecting Allo/assistant to come with N, but also wasnt expecting N this early. It makes perfect sense that they use it for bait on the new Nexus devices. They have to have something software related to help hype the launch

What are you getting in this update that is so great that its more important than a great camera, great battery life, and the best screen?
i really want to run AOSP, but sammy just has an over all better package. camera and spay are awesome reasons alone to choose over a nexus.
Nexus are very well rounded now. Good screen good camera, and good battery life too. To top it all off fast updates, clean ui, and it won’t start lagging after a month.
But you can have the best of all of those besides fast updates. Since my move back to Samsung with the S6 and then the Note 5, S7 Edge, and now the Note 7 I haven’t experienced any type of slowdown. As far as a clean UI I just switch to Nova and use Good Lock while also Package Disabler and get the best of both worlds. Clean UI and better features.
Thats the beauty of Android. We can choose to our preference. To me it doesn’t matter having the best screen or camera as much as having the best software Android offer. As long as the hardware is in the top 5 which the 6p was last year. So that gives me hope that these upcoming Nexus will be even better hopefully. You just bought the Note 7 so you won’t see any lag and I hope you don’t, but my S7E started lagging after a month or so. I do use material dark theme and good lock which helps bare TW. What is package Disabler? I’mnot familiar with that.
I think it’s kinda weird they are promoting the LG V20 on their page like that.

I got gingerbread. A Rep told me that Verizon is getting around to updating it to Ice-Cream Sandwich, Jelly-Bean, Kit-Kat, Lollipop, and then Marshmallow. But he wasn’t sure about Nouget.
