Back at CES, Misfit announced their first full-blown smartwatch, the Misfit Vapor. At the time, they told us its specs and price tag ($199), but they refused to talk about which operating system it ran or whether or not they were working with some sort of custom wearable OS. Why? They were apparently concerned that people (read: iPhone owners) would steer clear of it if they knew it ran Android Wear. Well, here we are this morning with Baselworld in full swing and Misfit has officially announced that the Vapor runs Android Wear 2.0.
With that out of the way, let’s recap the device! The Misfit Vapor sports a 44mm case with touch bezel, 1.39-inch round AMOLED display (326ppi), Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor, 5ATM water resistance, 4GB storage, GPS, heart rate sensor, microphone, fitness tracking, Bluetooth, and WiFi. Since it runs Android Wear 2.0, that means it has access to Google Play apps whether you are on iOS or Android. You’ll find watch faces galore, other fitness apps, etc.
Misfit confirms the Vapor will ship in “late summer” for $199 in Jet Black or Rose Gold.

Not too shabby TBH. Too and my OG 360 still works like a charm.
Finally happy to see AW watches with 5 ATM water resistance! This looks like a nice watch though. Great price.
@kellex:disqus, this seems to tick a lot of your boxes from your article saying that Android Wear smartwatches aren’t as good as they could be, right?
Looks good, decent price, and most of the features I’m looking for. Might be the one I pick up.
Sold. Nice casual watch with better water resistance.
Does it have a speaker? That’s the only remaining feature it needs to be the perfect smart watch for me.
This might finally be the watch for me. NFC isn’t that important to me (I barely use it on my phone), so if the quality matches the price I’m in!
No NFC, No speaker, No 1.6″ screen or bigger? No care / no buy
What smartwatch has a 1.6 in screen?
Moto 360 gen 2… Techincally, 1.56″ I rounded up. Every other watch I compare to my moto 360 gen 2 looks tiny as far as screen size.
You must have the 46mm version. I have the 42mm version so mine is only 1.37 in. That 46mm is a huge watch. I guess Motorola would be the only one to make it again if they chose to do so.
Yes sir, true. Do you like the 42mm? I never tried one.
I like it just fine. It works for me. The battery life is good too.
You realize it’s only $199, right? No way you’d get NFC and a speaker for that price. If you want a big watch that does it all, I don’t think you are Misfit’s target market for this watch anyway.
So, could we say it is “Vapor Wear” then?
I was paid 104000 dollars past 12 months by doing an internet based work as well as I was able to do it by working in my own time for several hours regularly. I used job opportunity I stumbled upon on the web and therefore I am thrilled that I was succeed to earn such decent earnings. It’s really newbie-friendly and therefore I am so grateful that I found out regarding it. Check out what I do… http://jto.es/6dd
Google is paying 97$ per hour! Work for few hours and have longer with friends & family! !mj182d:
On tuesday I got a great new Land Rover Range Rover from having earned $8752 this last four weeks.. Its the most-financialy rewarding I’ve had.. It sounds unbelievable but you wont forgive yourself if you don’t check it

Is there a speaker?
Cool looking watch at a good price.
The lack of NFC is a bit of a killer for me, but this is a step in the right direction.
If it has interchangeable 22mm straps, I’d be very interested. Finally a watch that makes a really good fitness tracker, but can also be a good looking watch. I’d love to be able to switch between a silicone strap for workouts and a leather or stainless steel strap for going out with my wife. I hate switching between my GearFit 2 and my Q Founder 2.0. The GearFit2 is a great fitness tracker, but makes a crappy dress watch. The Q Founder is a great looking dress watch, but then I miss tracking steps while I’m wearing it. SHealth won’t work with Google Fit, so any steps counted by my Q Founder are wasted.
This may be my solution. Hmmm…Will Wait for reviews and inevitable sales.
I don’t need NFC but I’m fine with it having GPS this seems like a good buy.
“Vapor” at least they’re acknowledging this thing will never come to market
just another smartwatch to make a small drop in the pond. nothing against these, i just really wish these took off more. I think if it were a better market, it might drive prices down.
It actually does look good, would be interested to see it come with NFC, but I would probably have more use of WiFi.
Price is also very good, The only thing I am worried about is surviveability and battery life
Well, of COURSE it runs Android Wear. Apple certainly isn’t going to license watchOS to anyone else.
They could have made their own OS…
That’s obviously possible, but VERY unlikely.
* cough*tizen, Samsung*cough*
Sorry, I can’t get over this cold.
Yeah, you may want to see your doctor. I think you just helped me make my point. Even the second largest (behind Apple, btw) consumer electronics company in the WORLD didn’t try to develop their own OS from scratch, but they could afford to do it with a running start from Tizen and further develop that. I still say it’s VERY unlikely that a small company like Misfit (even though they’re owned by the Fossil group) could afford to do even that – and I think it’s obvious that they – and others like them – would use Android Wear.
Probable, but not always obvious. What OS does Pebble run?
…and Pebble went BANKRUPT. They’re gone. Thanks for helping me make my point AGAIN.
That doesn’t prove your point at all. Pebble made their own OS. Samsung made their own OS. Success of said OS has nothing to do with the probability of another company trying to make their own OS.
I agree using AW makes more sense, but I still don’t think it was OBVIOUS that’s what they were going to use. Perhaps they were trying to build their own OS, and decided against it, which is why they’ve just now announced it runs AW. If it was so obvious in January, why not just tell us that then?
I disagree completely. I think a small startup like Misfit would be stupid to NOT look at what happened to Pebble (and there are probably others) and try not to make the same mistakes (the biggest one likely being dumping so much of their resources into building a brand new OS from scratch). That decision has nothing to do with the success of the OS. It’s more about whether or not they can SURVIVE as a company – much less be profitable. Therefore, I’d argue it WAS obvious that they’d use AW – since it is the only available ready-to-use option.
Bottom line… who gives a sh!t? I’m not buying one regardless.
Fit bit? Garmin? tic watch?
Making their own OS would have taken years and added $200 to the cost of each watch. Using Android gets Vapor to market faster and the style gives them an edge in my opinion. Looks like the OG 360 minus the flat tire.
And the only thing it’s missing is NFC, it would have been perfect.
Yep. Kind of a dud without NFC.
NFC, LTE, Android Wear 3.0, and a Snapdragon 835 with a 4K display or it’s dead in the water.
This is sarcasm for those running a little slow this morning.
Yes, it needs NFC!! If it had that this could have been my next smartwatch.
It would be THE watch to own if it had NFC I think. Missed opportunity for Misfit.
Been waiting this watch since CES. Especially in love with the design and 5ATM water resistance. You can swim with this one. 🙂
I was paid 104000 bucks last 12 month period by doing an internet work and I was able to do it by working in my own time for quite a few hours each day. No flat tire = win
Yea but it it does have a mini tire tube around the bezel lol.
I’ll take the flat tire over this anyday.
It’s kinda six one way, half a dozen the other. I had the OG 360, and the flat tire never bothered me. I have the Q Founder 2.0 now, and while the flat tire still doesn’t really bother me, I really want my next watch to be an AMOLED display. The washed out blacks of the LCD screen bother me. My GearFit2, while not a dress watch, has a beautiful AMOLED display, with bright colors and deep, rich blacks. If the tube tire is a true deep black on this watch, it will blend right in with a black watch face. An LCD with a flat tire will always be washed out and never really blend, in my experience.
True… Yea I’ll have to see some reviews on it first, but it does look promising. Maybe the promo pics are misleading about the tube tire lol.
