I checked my order status online with Best Buy yesterday. It changed from Processing to Preparing. I also saw that the “Get it by” date changed from 4/21 to 4/25. Within minutes after seeing this, I received a text from Best Buy. It said there was an issue with my order and to call them. I call about 45 minutes later and was greeted with an automated system telling me my approximate hold time was 1 hour and 9 minutes. I must not have been the only one to get that text. I haven’t had time yet to reach out to them again. So I still don’t know what the problem is. I assume it has to do with the date change. Has anybody else had a problem with their Best Buy preorder? Thanks.

Don’t forget that most Carrier deals stack with Best Buy deals. So if a carrier is doing BOGO or something, then check to see if it stacks with the BBY exclusive stuff also (usually does.)

They sort of lock you in for 2 years. Sure the phone can be paid in full, releasing the 2 yr payments, but most people don’t realize that.

I believe once you receive the phone, you have to go to the samsung promotions site where you can register for the VR promo, and that’s when you will have the option of upgrading to the AKG/SD card bundle for $99. That money goes straight to samsung.

Correct. No more contracts. However. If you switch to new unlimited plan (month to month) and get S8 or S8+ you are on a 2 year device payoff contract. If you do this, they knock off money on total payoff of phone. Up to 480$ from trade in. Comes off the 840 price divided by 24 months.
Korea gets to trade in there s7 for a deal because of the Note 7 issue. What happens to the rest of the world. So lame.
Sam’s Club has a deal on them get $150 gift card and no activation fee.. Strange thing is that they don’t list all the colors of the phone. I’m wanting the S8+ and they don’t list it in black, only the other colors and on the S8 they offer black and silver.
I’m actually looking at doing this deal. We shop at Sam’s all the time and would be able to use this for some groceries. I’d rather go this route than Best Buy to save $3/month in payments.

I got the S7 off Amazon and it got Nougat in January. But it’s an international variant (Exynos-based G930FD). I heard US (Snapdragon) variants are worse off. 🙁

I just tried ordering the S8 as outright purchase: didn’t get the option for the Gear VR and it was priced at $819. VZW wanted $720 but I couldn’t change shipping address to my UPS CC.. I ordered direct from Samsung instead for the VZW model at $720 which included the Gear VR and expedited shipping. BB is not the best price.
BestBuy must get a serious kickback from contracts…. They can “afford” to “lose” 50$ or 100$ over the course of a contract. They can’t, however, take 100$ off if you buy full retail? They actually charge more for buying outright lol.

I saw Verizon is offering the phone for $15 a month with qualifying trade in….Plus all the goodies through Samsung…May need to use that early upgrade from my s7edge….I figure I’ll pay the same amount over the next 24 months for the s8 that I would be spending of I keep my s7edge
You don’t get any trade in bill credit if you do an early upgrade. You have to pay the S7E off in full to get the trade in bill credits for it.

I’m a tel/sat/fiber lineman, I need a good phone I don’t have to worry about water/dust/drops. I’ve tumble my s7 active down a ladder a few times and still works nicely. Even take it swimming regularly and take underwater pics of kiddos learning to swim

Not a fan of phone cases generally, but the s6 active’s built on casing isn’t an eyesore bc it was designed as part of the device. I’ve loved mine and I have had very few times where it stuttered or slowed in any way.

If you have another bill with interest, why would you pay off something that is at 0% interest?
If you have a credit card at 12% interest, then that is $180 in interest for 2 years on $750.
If you don’t have any credit cards with interest, then you can put that money for saving and make 4%+ interest. That would be $60+ more in your pocket.

Where are you getting 4% on a savings account? You have to put 324k in my bank to get a set 4.5% guaranteed for ten years, and that was eight years ago when we did that. A standard savings acct today is considered high when it hits 1% apy. CDs are in the 1.25-1.4% range. And I am extremely lucky to have an old savings acct that gives me 2.21%.
Why the hell would you dump 324k into a savings account instead of investing in real estate or even in an index fund of any kind… after inflation you are barely getting out ahead.

You can invest in gold, property, stock (huge ability to diversify just in that be it a common stock, index fund, materials… ect) , be a backer/investor for a startup. Any chance this phone makes it to B&H Photo in the unlocked form in May? The unlocked S7 was sold on B&H. I love buying from B&H to save on sales tax if you don’t live in NY. Saving on tax is nice for a phone at this price. It would be worth the wait for me.

I wouldn’t buy the S7 that doesn’t have Nougat yet. The unlocked S8 will have Nougat when it launches. Fingers crossed that Samsung is better with their updates on the unlocked S8 than they have been in the past. My reason for the unlocked versions of phones is to bypass the VZW bloatware and the ugly VZW logos all over the phone. Although, on the VZW website the photos of the S8 don’t have a VZW logo, is it possible? Never thought I’d see the day!

You can pay it off as soon as it shows up on your account. I got a phone from BB last year on Cyber Monday and paid off the total a few days later. As long as the deal doesn’t include a monthly credit you are good to go.
I’ve always been confused by this too. Best Buy is claiming you can get the VZW S8 for 27.91/month or $819 full retail. Does that mean you can agree to the monthly payment and then just pay it off completely after one month. And pay $670 total? That seems like the best deal if so.

Sometimes, but they try to avoid you doing that by putting agreements in the contract to fulfill X amount of months…Honestly, individual contracts are still too expensive…I have ATT, but i have 4 lines at $185, two moto G’s and nephew got a 6S for christmas and I paid it off…SO, after taxes and my discount, I am at $185 for 4 lines and thats really cheap and worth it to me. If you look at the cost of the phone and tax and plan…Verizon’s $80 plan will cost you with taxes $89, plus the phone, $115 is too much for my taste…I rather buy the phone unlocked and get on a crickett for $45 monthly…just me..
I was on monthly payments for my S7. 0% financing, so why not? I pre-ordered the S8+ last night and will trade in my S7 (I had $56 dollars left to pay before I had paid it 50% off). Once you are in installments, you can go ahead and pay off the phone right now away. No reason to wait if you don’t want to, but you ultimately pay what you were going to pay, except you do it upfront.
Isn’t AT&T giving you a whole second S8 for free plus all the VR stuff too? If you plan on getting more than one, that’s a tough one to beat.

“cheap” is relative. att is spaced among a certain number of months vs verizon and sprint. with att, you are expect a minimum of something like 20 months, while verizon/sprint are something like 18 months. maths end up the same, the numbers in front of the customer is the only difference here.
