Watch: Samsung’s Galaxy S8, S8+ Intro Video Details Everything You Need to Know

Honestly, there’s a lot going on with the Galaxy S8. There’s a new design, new features, and plenty of stuff in between. Because we don’t yet have the phone in the office, we can’t exactly highlight all of the greatness ourselves, but in the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8’s official introduction video, Samsung does a pretty darn good job.

In this 3:34 minute long video, you will learn about Bixby, the rear-facing camera, Infinity Display, wireless charging, facial recognition, iris scanning, water resistance, and oh so much more. Basically, anything Samsung felt necessary to highlight on these phones, it will be in this easily digestible video. Yum yum.

Naturally, once we get ours paws on these devices for the longterm, we’ll provide our own thoughts on all of this stuff, but until then, here you go.

Are you feeling the Galaxy S8 or S8+? I certainly am.

Surprised no one mentioned how functional Bixby seems. Gooogle may have shot themselves by being so stingy with Assistant.

Great video but I’m still holding out for the Note 8 and see what differences there will be.

I’m glad I was able to use JUMP on Demand with T-Mobile to switch from the S7 Edge to the S8 Plus. Depending what turns out of the Note 8 I’ll be using JOD for that as well.

@3:20 I think someone is getting arrested off in the distance.

Fingerprint sensor is in a stupid place….Gonna be fingerprints all over camera lens.,..Not impressed

Then you probably shouldn’t buy one.

LOL. So true. Besides, it tells you if the lens is dirty so the “problem” has already been addressed.

        Exactly

I’m not gonna lie, I hated it at first, but I just tried it on my own phone, and it feels like a much more natural place to put your finger rather than readjusting your hand to get your thumb to the home button.

If you want the fingerprint sensor for unlocking purposes you can set up Smart Lock instead and your phone will remain unlocked while at trusted locations or while connected to trusted devices.

I’m not normally the “put down your phone” guy, but you don’t watch “Stranger Things” at the beach.

  7. B!

This has me beyond excited for the Note 8!

  8. chris_johns

its either this or the pixel 2

    1. Synacks

you’ll have to wait 7 more months (or more) for the Pixel2

      1. chris_johns

honestly, i dont mind so much..by then this phone should drop about $100-$150 and if the pixel2 doesnt outdo it i will go the s8 route…my turbo2 can hold up

    2. Kevin

By then you’ll also have the note 8 to consider.

  9. Manbearpig

Damn it! Samsung just shitted all over my new G6!!

  10. CoolSilver

Finally got rid of that physical home button.

  11. Tyler Durden

    nevermind…lol

If I click the zoom feature it fills the display and no crop. weird.

How is the S8 compared to the G6 in your limited time with them? I’m on the fence. Although the price of each might make me keep this Turbo 2.

    1. Adil Tajgeer

Older soc, less internal storage, LCD vs AMOLED, 2 cameras vs 1.

Personally I’d get the s8 unless the g6 was selling for 500 or less.

      1. 2001400ex

That’s specs on paper. What’s the real world speed of the phones and battery life. My son’s Moto Z play looks awful on paper compared to my wife’s pixel. But in reality, the Moto destroys it in battery life. And is roughly the same in speed.

        1. Adil Tajgeer

Honestly no one is going to have those kid of comparisons this early on. All phones will feel super quick at these events.

The 835 isn’t going to blow away a phone with an 821, but for basically equal money, I’d never buy the older platform.

All signs point to the 835s 10nm process being significantly more efficient than the 821s 14nm process, so logically the s8+ should have similar to better battery life compared to the g6, but again no one has had enough time with production models of the s8 to be able to draw any kind of accurate conclusion.
