Google Maps is now not only your parking advisor, it’ll help you locate your car after a night or day on the town in a mysterious city. Thanks to a new update, saving your parking location with notes and a meter timer is now easier than ever.
Once updated, Google Maps should recognize as you drive somewhere and then park. It’ll then place a “You parked here” pin and dot on the map wherever you stopped, or you can always tap on your blue location dot and then “Save your parking” to access the settings at any time. From there you can even drag your parking location, should it not be accurate.
From within the parking section of Maps, there are options for changing location (as I just mentioned), as well as parking notes, meter timer, adding photos, walking navigation directions to the spot (with an estimated travel time), and sharing.
The update was supposed to rollout within a few days, but I just got it this morning. Be on the lookout!

I ran a half marathon several years back in Richmond Virginia. After I finished I jogged backwards through the course to find my wife, about three miles. Then I finished the race with her. Another 3 miles, for a total of about 19 miles. When we arrived in Richmond early that morning it was dark. I rarely lose my sense of direction but I was exhausted and could not find our parking garage. I methodically traversed the downtown area until I finally found our car. I have no idea how many additional miles I walked looking for the car. But I nearly broke down crying at least three times while looking for it. My wife was unable to assist because she was much more tired than myself.
This feature would have saved me much agony.
Street parking and parking lots I’m good BUT!!!! can this save me from going to every level of a parking garage and peeking my head out after I forgot the level I parked?
Easier solution: take a picture of the sign denoting your parking level/location.
This isn’t something I would ever use, but I reckon there are people in the world that don’t know how to devote a couple of brain cells to remembering simple things.
Doesn’t Waze already do this?
I was just saying this is useful. My car saves where I parked to my phone, if I push the button and wait 30 seconds…
My issue is it gets confused with parking and my subway rides. Would like to pin it semi permanently until it connects to my car bluetooth or something
it would make more sense to tag your bluetooth(s) as your car(s) and when it disconnects that is your parking spot.
Didn’t this used to happen in Google Now automatically? That card hasn’t popped up for me in a while.
It still does. Mine is currently showing
Huh, guess I messed up a setting somewhere.
I haven’t seen it on mine for a while either
Mine stopped showing up too!
