This LG V30 Mock-Up is Pretty Hot

It only took a few hours for device render creators to work with last night’s announcement from LG and put together really clean mock-ups of the V30. What we have here are two that show a device we might all be drooling over should it look anywhere near this in final form.

The images were posted by @UniverseIce and show the phone by itself, but also next to the LG G6 and Samsung Galaxy S8+. Again, these are not official renders, though they do appear to be based off the bottom image that LG posted last night while talking about the phone’s 6-inch POLED FullVision display.

You can see the flatness of the G6’s FullVision display next to the slightly curved edges we expect on the V30. It’s really a nice combo of the G6 and the Galaxy S8’s more prominent curved edges. Also, the sizing here could be about right, since LG said that the V30 would be smaller than the V20, even with a 6-inch display. The G6 sports a 5.7-inch display and is not at all an oversized phone. Adding that 0.3-inches may not be that big of a difference maker.

Couple these (potential) looks with the expectation that we’ll get a Quad DAC, power user tools in the camera and elsewhere, and a whole bunch of “stuff and things” that always accompany the V line, and the V30 is going to give the Note 8 and Pixel XL 2 some good competition.

  • LG V30 looks like the best phone ever made. I need to upgrade now but may just hold out for this if it is coming to european markets.

  • So a Note 8 with more rounded S8 like corners. Sounds like LG.
Interested tho if it had 5Ah battery..

  • I admit that looks nice, but I’m prob gonna stick with the note 8, that s pen is a necessity

  • The rounded “3D” glass needs to die. I’ve seen 3 S8 owners shatter their screens and one had a case. It’s also nearly impossible to find a good fitting screen protector for them or their stupid expensive if they do fit well. Plus I don’t care at all what a phone looks like as long as it’s comfortable to hold and somewhat durable.

    • Why are you so mad about the S8’s screen when it sounds like you don’t even own one?

Just get an S8 Active and sit down.

      • Why are your assuming I’m mad and that it’s relevant that I own one? Or that I’m on AT&T and that the Active is an option? Or replying to a 10 day old comment?

Just stop trolling old articles and sit down.

  • idk it looks exactly like the s8. Pass. Not sure how LG fans can hate on the s8 design but eat this up.

    • I’m actually not loving the curved screen of the V30 (although they claim it’s less curved than the S8, who knows if that is true). But the reason I “hated” on the S8+ I ordered, and subsequently cancelled, was due to the horrible placement of the fingerprint reader, the Bixby drama, knowing that TW was likely to slow the phone down, and ultimately, concern over it being fragile.

While I would like a removable battery, I don’t miss it as much as I would have thought. So, I will likely check out the V30, and if it’s not to fragile, will likely purchase and pass down my G6 to my daughter.

  • How has LG traditionally fared when it comes to updates, including security patches and android versions? That’s one heck of a good looking device.

    • It’s is odd. I have the LG V20 and my wife has the LG G6. She has received almost every single Security Patch while I’m over here getting one like every 3 or 4 months. Very strange indeed.

  • When I saw the pic of the G6 online I thought it looked fly as hell, then I saw it in person & was very underwhelmed. I’m getting the same feeling with this.

    • i agree, I can’t pinpoint what is wrong, but something is just lame about the G6 in person. I assume narrow and dull screen. Maybe AMOLED will help

      • I knew I wasn’t the only one who thought the screen looked dull. I mean, I know I turned 40 this year but damn. It just looked dated to me.

      • AMOLED will definitely help the V30 which seems to be an updated G6. I think LG should scrap the G series and continue with V series and this V30 makes the updated G6+ a non-starter.

    • Except it has smaller top and bottom bezels, wider side bezels, and no nasty curved screen edges.

      • well it is rumored to have curved screen, so seems like it might have note 7 like curves. Not to mention the difference in bezels is minimal at best. Nice try, still doesn’t change the fact it looks like a copy of the s8 on the front.

        • I guess if looking more similar to the G6 (but with smaller bezels and curved glass) makes it look like a copy of the S8, which came out after the G6, then sure.

          • Oh a big whole 2 weeks before the s8. It does not look like the g6. G6 is more squared off. I mean they even took the curved corners of the s8 with their v30. But clearly you just aren’t willing to admit it. Good day

          • yes but a more squarish look on the whole body. The v30 literally curved the entire front of the device…. just like the s8… Not sure why that is so hard for you to see.

        • Well except that the note 8 allegedly has placed the FP reader in the same spot as the S8(+), which should be a real treat with the larger phone.

  • Looks goregous, but all this does is make me even more excited for the Pixel 2. I mean, if it rocks the same screen as the V30 (and all signs are pointing towards that) I mean, really, is there any contest?

    • Disagree. The v30 side bezels look like the side bezels of the S6 edge. Doubt it will feel that way though.

    • It looks just like the regular S8. Even the speaker grill is the same size. FFC is just to the other side.

      • no it doesnt. theres no edge on the s8. until someone can compete with no bezel, then no one will compete

  • I would think there would be some sort of second display that the “V” series is known for right?

  • Would be lying if i didnt say it looks really sexy. Just curious to know whats in the phone. This month is starting to be an exciting one.

  • Ugh, V30 or the Note 8?! My wallet is ready. Right now I have the V20 and it’s the smoothest phone I’ve ever owned. Glad I saved my Jump On Demand Upgrade! This summer is about to heat up. ????????????

          • You can still enroll on JOD it just has to be through TForce or over the phone.

At least that’s how it was back in April when I re-signed back up for the program (after spending time away due to the Nexus 6).

          • But since i am on the 2 lines $100, will the pricing change? Anyone know before i call?

          • I believe since TMO does the plan separate from the phone that JOD won’t effect your 2 lines/$100 deal. Not 100% certain on that but I’d say 95% sure.

          • Can i quote you on that, so when i go in or call i can have prove? Teasing sounds good, i shall ffind out in a bit.

    • Yep the V20 is the first phone other than the first moto x I haven’t really complained about.

      • Yeah, it’s been a great experience for sure. While I may miss the removable battery, I’m glad wireless charging is coming, and water resistance!

        • I setup the ir blaster to control pretty much everything lol, got all my tvs, fans, and tvs at work setup with it lol.

      • I really am envious of my wifes V20. I just cant device between the V30 and the V20. I don’t need waterproof, but really like swappable batteries.

        • I’m sticking with the V20 but that’s just me. This phone is a beast and the camera rocks.

    • I’ve been using the v10 as a temporary phone right now. It just got Nougat which is a really nice update for it. I still prefer the freedom I have with Google phones with unlocking and rooting but LG’s phones with Nougat is actually a pleasant experience.

      • Yeah, it’s funny when I hear this phone and that phone has been finally updated with Nougat. I always forget the V20 shipped with Nougat out of the gate. I wonder if the V30 will be another exclusive partner. If LG is making the Pixel XL 2, I bet the V30 will have O out the gate as well.

        • That would be my guess, and bet the V20 will get it soon after, since it hasn’t even received the 7.1 update yet.

        • I don’t know for sure. This is the first non Google phone I have used in a while. The v10 came out in 2015 and was just updated to Nougat though. So at least they update older devices still.

  • have a feeling the removable battery is gone πŸ™ and so are my interest in buying it :(.
