Tim

Stumbling upon Droid Life randomly after purchasing a Motorola DROID in late 2009, then setting out to learn everything he could about Android, Tim quickly became an integral part of the site's comment section. After quite some time of strictly commenting on Droid Life, Tim was offered an opportunity to write feature stories for the site, such as custom ROM overviews, as well as interviews with Android community members. Following success of those, Tim became a full time writer and editor for Droid Life, now spending his time on news articles, device reviews, producing videos, and much more. Tim currently resides in Portland, OR with his longtime girlfriend and two wonderful dog children (Loki & Thor). In his spare time, Tim enjoys playing guitar, drinking coffee, practicing photography, and destroying kids on Call of Duty.

  • Ugh, I see them using this as an excuse to gimp more functionality in order to get a revenue stream, like they did with breaking the google keep integration.

With the movies sync going I may just make the jump to IOS if Apples home controller is compelling. At least then you know they wont take functionality away just to make more money off of something you bought.

    • I have to agree with you on why some people continue to use the word, Clutch. I for one think it just doesnt sound right or out of place. I really hope clutch and super clutch just die and go away. Nice try just doesnt sound right. I feel people who use those words are just trying to hard to try and sound so cool, that they are the shiznit lol.

      • It’s like “Ratchet”, which I first heard in that song by — the Chainsmokers? “That’s so ratchet”. Gonna go ahead and say it was a bet. “Bet I can make a song with the stupidest lyric/catch-phrase ever that doesn’t make sense”. Although, granted, “Fleek” is also on my list. But can it compare with the “Chicken Noodle Soup with a soda on the side” song? No. I’ve turned this into a rant about music.

  • I’ve never really looked into Google Express. Has anyone here used it? What are your thoughts if you have?

    • I used it when I got a deal from Groupon with it. It works pretty much like amazon or anything else. The big difference is that you are shopping from select stores in your area, so you are really limited to what stores are around and what those stores have to offer.

      • Well I see they have Walmart, Target and Bed Bath & Beyond, which is good. Is it true that it’s free shipping as long as you spend about $35? The reason I always avoided it was because I thought there was some sort of membership fee or delivery fees.

        • Yes, over the “store minimum” which is usually $35 is free shipping. The subscription model was annoying, glad that did away with that. I mean, maybe it’s still there? but I’ve placed a few orders as test orders from Costco and it works.

          • Oh ok, so there was a subscription model at one point…I checked out the site and didn’t see any mention of it and was confused.

    • I tried it once. The box arrived 4 days late… it wasn’t a good experience but I’ll give them another try.
