Download: Pixel 2’s Live Wallpapers on Your Device

Last week, the Pixel 2’s updated Pixel Launcher and Camera app both made their way onto online Android nerd rooms, so it’s no surprise that the new live wallpapers from Google’s new phones did as well. We’re talking about the live wallpapers that Google showed off during the Pixel 2 event, wallpapers that may look like a typical aerial shot of the Earth, yet have subtle motion within.

You can see the wallpaper above running on my LG V30 review unit, which is the one that Google showed off on stage. There are others, though, including additional aerial shots, but also some that are interactive (like the Gooey and Glimmer series). Most are very cool, assuming you have a powerful enough phone to run them.

Like I said, I installed the live wallpapers on my LG V30 and it seems to be running them with no issue. I should point out, though, that the files you’ll need to get these live wallpapers on your phone are substantial in size (170MB).

To get started, hit up the XDA link below, read through some of the instructions so that you know what to expect. Then, find the “Downloads” section to grab the proper file. You don’t need to be rooted or anything – just install the correct .apk. Once done, you should find the wallpapers in your live wallpapers picker.

Kellen

It’s not often that you get to merge personal passions into a professional life, but that’s what Kellen did when he launched Droid Life in 2009. After working years of unsatisfying jobs in the medical and property management fields, he took a risk to try and create an online community while playing with the coolest gadgets on the planet each day, a risk that has turned out to be incredibly rewarding. Outside of Droid Life, Kellen is your typical Portlander who drinks way too much good beer, complains often about the Trail Blazers, and can be found out on the streets for a run, rain or shine.

  • Thanks so much for this! I’m using the beach and the quality is absolutely STUNNING! I’ve been using Wave for years, but this has just replaced it.

  • Installed on my N6, went to nearby Verizon store to check Pixel 2 XL, the wallpaper looks better on my N6 than on the Pixel 2 XL.. To late to cancel my Pixel 2 XL order now, it’s already tuned to processing, I’ll have to return..

    • I thought I had read that display is set to sRGB mode out of the box (so it’s not as ‘punchy’), but I could be wrong.

    • Lucky, I cancelled my 64 gb and ordered the 128 gb XL. It was actually one day faster but after hearing 3 year updates..let’s see if I can keep this for 3 years.

    • After looking at on at Verizon I decided to cancel my order. I didn’t like how light it was and it definitely felt plasticky with the coating. The thing that really settled on me canceling it is the screen. The screen was immediately much worse than my S8. It was both dimmer and you could tell the colors didn’t look as nice. The max brightness was awful.

      • Google is paying 97$ per hour, with weekly payouts. You can also avail this.
On tuesday I got a great new Land Rover Range Rover from having earned $11752 this last four weeks..with-out any doubt it’s the most-comfortable job I have ever done .. It sounds unbelievable but you wont forgive yourself if you don’t check it

  • yeah i have these running lovely on my s8…really nice, but wish there was more going on…the coastline and the marvelous earth one are the best i feel (fyi: if you have an s8 or note, download the Google wallpaper app to set)

  • There are few different versions of this apk out there, some work better than others. You also have to uninstall the current app. Works fine on my pixel, automation and all.

  • I tried this friday, and the Live wallpapers just crash on my Pixel XL… The phone it should be most likely to work on….

    • I don’t think that your phone was more likely than anyone else’s to work. (minus the pixel 2’s that had the missing .lib files already)

      • Good point. Maybe with the November update we will get something for this. Some of the live do work, but not the cool new ones like the pixel 2.

        • There are versions out that have the lib files included. They all seem to work on my 5X, IIRC, but not on the kids’ tablet.

    • I had the same issue with my Moto Z with Friday’s file. Check the one posted in the link…it was updated today and works flawlessly now with my device.
