Tim

Stumbling upon Droid Life randomly after purchasing a Motorola DROID in late 2009, then setting out to learn everything he could about Android, Tim quickly became an integral part of the site's comment section. After quite some time of strictly commenting on Droid Life, Tim was offered an opportunity to write feature stories for the site, such as custom ROM overviews, as well as interviews with Android community members. Following success of those, Tim became a full time writer and editor for Droid Life, now spending his time on news articles, device reviews, producing videos, and much more. Tim currently resides in Portland, OR with his longtime girlfriend and two wonderful dog children (Loki & Thor). In his spare time, Tim enjoys playing guitar, drinking coffee, practicing photography, and destroying kids on Call of Duty.

  • I use this very product and it works BRILLIANTLY. I have a Note 4, and use NFC fairly regularly as a payment method. I didn’t even want to try to see if the NFC works through my case and the magnet, so I took a pair of tin snips to the magnet and mounted it in my case on either side of my camera housing. This necessitated the need for a second vent mount, but hey, that’s what the 2 pack is for, right? 馃槈 Works like a charm!

  • You do know you can just slide the plate into your case, no sticking required? I had an S8 and I still did this.Waiting for my case to arrive to do it with my P2XL.

  • I tried one of these by another company with my S8 and the plate interfered with wireless charging. Is this one different?

    • Don’t use the plate. Galaxy S7 and S8 don’t need the plate.
If you have a case, stick the plate onto the inside of the case instead.

  • No need to actually stick the magnetic plates anywhere. Just slide it to back of your case, or stick it to the inside of your main case. Please don’t stick this thing to your phone.I use one of these and the only off thing about them is that in the winter months my phone is getting blasted with heat. Haven’t figured that out yet.

  • Thanks for the V30 heads up because that’s my future phone and was about to pull the trigger.
