Available at Best Buy, you can grab a Philips Hue white and color ambiance starter kit, plus a Google Home, all for just $198. Getting these products separately would typically run about $328, so this bundle deal is saving you $130. That ain’t bad at all.
If you couldn’t already guess, owners can control Philips Hue lights via Google Home with Google Assistant, so the pairing of these two products as a bundle is perfect for those looking to up their smart home game.
We aren’t sure how long this bundle deal will last, so get on it if this is the type of home upgrade you’ve been looking for.

I just want cheap bulbs at this point. I already have the hub, but the bulbs is where they get you!
This is why I’m buying in to IKEA’s lighting, much cheaper for the same thing. Take the E12 bulbs, Philips are $29.99 each, the same bulb from IKEA is $6.99.
All these are a hard sell if you have to have the light switch on in order to gain the benefit.
To get any bulb to actually light up, it has to have electricity going to it in the first place. Would you rather wire a lamp directly to the fuse box? I’m no electrician, so please tell me an easier way to make all this work and upgrade in your existing home other then simply, leave your switch in the “on” position.
GE Z-Wave light switch….
this doesn’t explain much. I’m perceiving it as you’d rather have a smart light switch rather than a smart bulb and Google Home.
Plug it in one of the outlets not going to the light switch…
wait, are you referring to outlets thats are controlled by a light switch? or lights that are controlled by a light switch? i’m referring to the latter. my kitchen light which is in the ceiling for example. It has a Phillips Hue bulb, but the switch has to remain “up” in order for Google Home to control it. The outlet controlled by a switch is a completely different story all together. Anything (not just lamps) could be plugged in to that outlet.
Ah, gotcha. Well light bulbs with the switched built in never seemed like a good solution to me for just this reason. I would rather invest in light switches that can be controlled. Take like 5 minutes to wire up and be done with it. But I haven’t looked at prices in years, I just walk over and turn them on.
I dipped my toes into the smart bulb market last week. Just got the two bulb, white-only Philips starter kit. Didn’t realize how much I’d like it paired with my Google Home mini. I’ll be buying some more bulbs soon.
So a free Google Home. Because the Hue kit is $200 seems like on its own. Not a bad deal. I’ve been tracking these lights for a while but now that I have the mini I don’t need a home.
I once thought the same. I bought a Home 6 months ago, figured it was all I needed. Then I started adding smart home things: Hue bulbs, Harmony Hub, etc I now have 2 Homes and a mini, and i want a couple more minis. Once you dip your toe into smart home stuff there’s no turning back lol.
Lol sounds like you have a lot of space. My apartment isn’t that big though.
I do have a bit haha. But, if you have any plans to add smart bulbs to multiple rooms and you want to control them with your voice you’ll not want to yell to your one Home location. If you have no plans on having multiple rooms setup then no biggie. Also multiroom music is nice for getting ready in the morning or hanging out, doesn’t have to be very loud because every room plays the same thing, instead of one really loud location. It’s all just too much fun 😉
