A new beta build has been posted by Essential, listed as Beta 3 to be exact.
The changelog isn’t very detailed, detailing only a few fixes from Beta 2. Essential lists the Google Security patch for Spectre and Meltdown, as well as various stability and bug fixes. Not too exciting, but hey, the final build has to be coming soon, right?
To download the beta to your Essential Phone, follow the link below or simply pull the OTA from your Settings menu (Settings>System>System update) if you’re already enrolled in the beta.

Just downloaded and installed, boot looped and was forced to Factory Reset. For anyone curious, try at your own risk I guess? I was on Oreo Beta 2.
Worked fine for me, and I even had substratum themes on. Weird.
Still stutters a bit.
Yeah I had themes on too, and was guessing that’s what broke it, who knows. I have SMS backups and Google Photos so no biggie. Restore process is much improved these days anyway.
Since you did a restore, did your wireless networks restore properly?
Beta 1 and 2 had it where after it restored it would no longer connect, so I had to forget the networks and then readd them anytime I did a clean install. It even did that with the first wireless network I’d do the initial setup on.
Nah I had to connect to my work network again.
I’m running it, and now have it rooted. Performance is worlds better than on 7.1. Can’t find a better phone for the price ($399).
Tim how’s your essential running with it?
I’m curious about this as well. My Nexus 6P is suffering the dreaded 8.X battery decline to the point that it’s almost intolerable. If you want stock Android and good size screen, there’s really only two choices: Essential or Pixel XL2.
