Stumbling upon Droid Life randomly after purchasing a Motorola DROID in late 2009, then setting out to learn everything he could about Android, Tim quickly became an integral part of the site's comment section. After quite some time of strictly commenting on Droid Life, Tim was offered an opportunity to write feature stories for the site, such as custom ROM overviews, as well as interviews with Android community members. Following success of those, Tim became a full time writer and editor for Droid Life, now spending his time on news articles, device reviews, producing videos, and much more. Tim currently resides in Portland, OR with his longtime girlfriend and two wonderful dog children (Loki & Thor). In his spare time, Tim enjoys playing guitar, drinking coffee, practicing photography, and destroying kids on Call of Duty.

  • that is a really thin chin, if it’s like the X in the photo, thumbs up, notches can be hidden right.

  • I was hoping to see One+ move to a quadHD display and I believe that would be their best selling device.

  • Guys. I’m no expert, but even I can tell these are fake pictures. Come on. The bottom of the screen in the top picture doesn’t even line up with the bottom of the phone. In the second picture, the top left corner of the screen appears to be stretched into the corner at a weird angle. Also, when have you ever seen a phone maker shoot two different models side by side with the exact same screen background? No way, every model always gets it’s own new background image.

Will the phone look like this? Probably. But these photos aren’t real.

  • Any happy 5T owners? I’m specifically looking for something that approaches Z Play battery life with better camera specs, but don’t have the budget for like P20 Pro (maybe a Mate 10 Pro)

      • specifics on usage and SOT? I’m normally average mixed usage with occasional heavy usage. Looking for something to get me from 6am-11pm with 4-5 hours SOT (some gaming, music streaming included in that figure).

        • Really happy with mine too, battery definitely took a hit after the 8.1 update. Other than that pros/cons are opinion based only.

          • I ended up grabbing an XZ1 Compact from Swappa for under $350. Battery life has been great, easily lasting 1.5 days. With heavy usage, I’ve topped 5 hours SOT a few times while still making it 6am to 9pm off the charger.

  • I’m not a fan of the notch and I’d never buy a phone with one … But if you’re doing to do it…that’s what your bottom and side bezels need to look like. OP has it figured out.

  • Looks like the first Android phone to come close to matching the iPhone X’s even bezels all the way around the screen. I hate Apple’s notch, but I have to give them props for the bezels. This seems like a better approach to a notch than Apple, but I’d just assume not have a notch at all. Not sure where all the sensors should go, though.

  • I’m genuinely excited about this phone. I currently own the Pixel 2 XL since November BUT as good of a phone as it is, I’ve never been in love with it. Outside of the camera’s I absolutely feel my previous phone, the ZTE Axon 7 was better, in every other way. I owed the oneplus one previous to the Axon 7 and I loved it. But obviously had to move on. I also used the oneplus 5 for a week from a friend and definitely liked it more than plain vanilla android software. I’m very sure that the screen and build will be better than the 2xl also they’ve never put out a bad camera, will it touch the 2 xl single camera? Probably not but I’m very sure no one will be disappointed by the camera on the op6. Also the notch doesn’t bother me, it can be turned off and made to look uniform in the settings. So again, I’m excited about this phone.

    • Might be refreshing if a company developed a pure tablet-like device, the size of the a phone, with nothing on the front (no selfie cam). the only way to talk or get sound is with earphones or BT. use the extra space internals for bigger battery and better radios.

        • A couple of years ago I was in a high level management meeting here in the US. A guy from Singapore had headphones connected to a Galaxy tab talking on a call. Later I asked him about it and he said he never carried a phone during international travel, just a tablet… Connecting to WiFi where possible for emails and Skype and Google voice, only getting a data plan if necessary. It struck me as very forward kinda post smartphone era thinking.

          • In Korea they’re already doing this with phones that have no data only Wi-Fi. But the internals aren’t great.

  • I’m selling my V30 in a week or so and pretty sure this is what I’m going to be getting so long as it isn’t north of $600.

  • If real, the chin’s not as bad as I feared. Puts the LG G7 ThinQ to shame

    • I agree. I actually like it lol. If anything, I appreciate the chin so I actually have something to hold on to.

      • I think the only thing I’m going to need from them now is stereo speakers. I don’t even know why I need them but that’s my thing now, I guess. ????

          • I’d be leaving an older Nexus 6 for this, and a QHD screen and stereo speakers are great! Decisions decisions…..
