  • Hey Google, can we pretty please have a 9″ ChromeOS tablet based on this chipset?

Or, better yet since ChromeOS is updated by Google anyways, can we have a dual boot Windows/ChromeOS tablet from some 3rd party?

    • I don’t think a lean OS like ChromeOS actually needs a chip like this. Yes, more power is always better, but this Snapdragon 850 was made because Windows 10 and Windows apps generally require more CPU horsepower than Linux-based OSes.

      • Eh, I’ve owned everything from ARM to Intel Y series Pentium to i5 (Pixelbook) and you can certainly notice the difference across all three. A ChromeOS tablet on a top end Qualcomm chipset would let it shine while sipping battery which would be more important in a tablet to keep size and weight down.

      • Although the Snapdragon SOCs are the BEST at power and battery efficiency, the main reason for the 850 is compatibility with win32 programs and x86 systems. Definitely no need for this to be in an android tablet, but I think it would be cool if a Windows based tablet could support dual OS merely as a bonus .
