Kellen

It’s not often that you get to merge personal passions into a professional life, but that’s what Kellen did when he launched Droid Life in 2009. After working years of unsatisfying jobs in the medical and property management fields, he took a risk to try and create an online community while playing with the coolest gadgets on the planet each day, a risk that has turned out to be incredibly rewarding. Outside of Droid Life, Kellen is your typical Portlander who drinks way too much good beer, complains often about the Trail Blazers, and can be found out on the streets for a run, rain or shine.

  • I still cant get it to download. Phone keeps saying im up to date! Checked that im on the PPP3 build and June 5th security patch too.

  • Anyone else noticing that using pixel buds some names get a “I’m sorry but I can’t tell you your notifications at this time?” So far it’s only my wife who has an iPhone, everyone else reads the name and the text. Wonder if it’s iMessage?

    • I had this problem too. She has a Pixel 2, so I don’t think it’s iMessage related. Just Google being Google – half baked. Ended up returning them. They were pretty uncomfortable, IMO.

      • Actually they were working fine under Oreo, once I loaded the P beta it started. Tried changing name, removing the work numbers, turning off her iMessage and nothing fixed it, annoying. I’m gonna try deleting her thread and start over to see if that fixes it. Besides that issue when u answer the phone with the buds the screen stays on in my pocket and it hits the pocket muting the call, putting her on hold and disconnecting at times. Very annoying knowing the buds should allow handsfree usage but having to pull phone out to turn screen off is stupid.

  • Just remember, folks, that it’ll likely be an hour or two before the ‘Check For Update’ button pulls the update to your device!

  • The current build has been super stable for me. I’ve had to restart it maybe 3 or 4 times total to deal with bluetooth issues.

    • I’m having camera freezes a lot on pixel XL. I’ll probably do a wipe after the final release if it’s still happening

    • It’s been mostly stable for me on a regular Pixel 2. There have been a few instances where the screen only showed the background and the top/bottom system bars so I had to reboot just to be able to get back into my apps.

      • PPP3 has been crazy unstable for me. PPP2 was fine. Now my Pixel 2 XL lags something fierce and when swiping down from the app drawer the icons on the lower bottom don’t go back down fully. Constantly having to reboot. Here’s hoping this fixes all of my gremlins haha.

  • Pixel 2 already in a box to he sold. Maybe I’ll have 1… more…go before shipping.

      • Boredom man lol. Being such a slow year for Android phones I figure I have 6 months of free time to try something different. So I picked up an iPhone 7 on swappa to give iOS 12 public beta a go.

        • I’m the same way lol. I picked up the iPhone X to mess around just to ease the boredom. Returned it and loved my Pixel 2 again as a new phone. Boredom problem solved until August now lol.

          • That’s too much money for a trial run for me lol.

I plan on keeping the 7 probably until January. By then Pixel 3 will have normal stock and there’ll be a ton of S10 leaks. So I’ll make up my mind then.

          • Oh I only kept it for the 14 day trial period. I used my upgrade so no money was spent upfront. I wanted to keep it actually, but there were just enough things that Android does better that I couldn’t adjust to on the iPhone. And the notch, of course.

I’m similar to you except my “in between phone” will be the Note 9 (upgraded s pen stuff sounds awesome) and then by winter check out the Pixel 3 XL… assuming no notch.
