Grab the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro’s First Factory Images

Google took a usual step today by releasing both the factory image and OTA files for its new Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro phones. They tend to do this as phones launch, giving users who like to tinker a way to fix their phones should they tinker too much.

The factory image and OTA files are available in several versions, but we aren’t yet seeing what will be the out-of-box, day 1 update Google told us to expect. For now, we have four different builds, all of which are very specific to your carrier.

Pixel 6 & Pixel 6 Pro Factory Images

  • SD1A.210817.015.A4
  • SD1A.210817.019.B1 (AT&T)
  • SD1A.210817.019.C2 (T-Mobile, USCC, Google Fi, CA, TW carriers)
  • SD1A.210817.019.C4 (Verizon)
  • Downloads: Factory Images | OTA

The new builds that should arrive as an over-the-air update are SD1A.210817.036, the global build for most users, and SD1A.210817.036.A8, the Verizon build.

The other bit of news with this release is a confirmation from Google that the Pixel 6’s codename was indeed “oriole,” and the Pixel 6 Pro’s was “raven.” These were rumored for a year leading up to their release, but we love seeing the names on these image pages.

Kellen

It’s not often that you get to merge personal passions into a professional life, but that’s what Kellen did when he launched Droid Life in 2009. After working years of unsatisfying jobs in the medical and property management fields, he took a risk to try and create an online community while playing with the coolest gadgets on the planet each day, a risk that has turned out to be incredibly rewarding. Outside of Droid Life, Kellen is your typical Portlander who drinks way too much good beer, complains often about the Trail Blazers, and can be found out on the streets for a run, rain or shine.

Someone is toying with your package or they have no ideas what to do with your package.

  • Kind of annoyed that here we are on launch day and it’s pretty much impossible to get one, anywhere.

I ordered day of pre-orders as soon as the site would let me, while it was still crashing, and my order has been moved back several times (now the 9th). My mom’s is showing late JANUARY for hers…Jesus Google.

Makes me wonder how long it really takes when Google tells production “we need X00,000 more units” to have those come out of production and ship? Three full months seems like a really long time…guessing it has more to due with how many tensor chips were produced initially than just assembly and production in general.

    • Just buy a regular 6 to hold you guys over, they are cheap enough.

They were in stock at Best Buy.

      • Checked those too and there, nodda in my region.

Not that I NEED it right away, just annoying with Sammy’s, no problem, usually here a day or two early, with Google…who knows.

Probably good for me anyway though as I definitely have a problem with phones.
