Wednesday Poll: Which Galaxy S22 Model Did You Buy?

It’s Galaxy S22 day. Are you getting in on the action? If so, we want… no, we need to know which model you went for. Is it the easily pocketable Galaxy S22? Or maybe the new and improved, S Pen-toting Galaxy S22 Ultra (aka Note S-Ultra)? There’s no wrong answer, as you should buy whichever one makes you happy. We’re here for a good time, not a long time, people.

If you’re still on the fence, we have all of the information and specs you’ll need to make an informed decision. We can’t tell you which phone to buy, but it’s clear that each phone has a certain crowd it’s aimed towards. If you need all of the specs, multitasking, and S Pen goodness, the S22 Ultra is your only option. Between the S22 and S22+, it’ll come down purely to size and battery.

I don’t envy anyone trying to make this important and difficult decision. However, if you’ve already made the leap, tell us which one you leapt for and feel free to mention why.

  • As much as I appreciate the features offered by the Note (and now Ultra), I tend to be a budget-minded phone buyer that waits for a steep discount 6~12 months after a phone’s release date. If I can find the Ultra on sale in the Fall when my current OP8T hits 2 years old, I may make the jump. Unless Google wows us with a smoking hot Pixel 7…

  • I want to pre order but I can’t get a definite answer on what models will be duel sim. I don’t want to carry two phones.

  • I went through T-mobile. Got the Ultra for $8.33 a month trading in my S20+. I could of had the S22+ for $0

  • The one and only Samsung phone I ever bought was the Galaxy S3 when it first came out, which was my first introduction to Android. I’ve always liked the Note for what it was and wanted to get a one but never did. After the S3, I went with the Nexus (4, 5, 6P) and Pixel (2, 3XL) phones.

For the past couple years, I’ve been thinking of trying out a Samsung phone once again, but figured i should go with the Note this time. I was a bit bummed out months ago when it was being said that the Note was no more after the Note 20. I am glad that it is now integrated into the S line, so I pre-ordered the S22 Ultra to finally be able to have that “Note” experience 🙂

  • Lol only 153 trade in value through Verizon for the note ten plus? sheesh..
scratch that must’ve been an error tried again and got mine for 13 bucks a month. lol

  • *Trying* to get the s22u (two actually) and a tab s8+ – the site is pretty unstable right now though. Trying to order on two different devices and two different browsers…still can’t get to checkout. Grrr…gonna be pissed if they sell out while I can’t get it completed.

      • Yes, I finally got mine to go through this evening, though it was missing the student discount. Figure I could bitch at Samsung about that later, at least the order is in ¯_(ツ)_/¯

  • I wonder how many people would’ve gotten a smaller S22 Ultra (say the size of the regular S22) if one was available? Just one time I would like to see that to see if those numbers are as similar as iPhone Pro/Pro Max have been.

  • I pulled the trigger on the Small Green 256GB (same price as the 128 don’t make a mistake). But I also ordered a Pixel 6 Pro. Decision will need to be made

  • I’ll wait for the “long” term reviews before deciding. I almost purchased a Pixel 6, but I couldn’t for days. Glad I didn’t cuz all the complaints I’ve been reading and watching about makes the Pixel 6 a no go.

  • I can’t believe more people aren’t talking about the lack of curve on the s22+ …that’s a huge W in my book. Can’t wait to check it out.

  • Ultra 512 black unlocked. Trading in an S21 Ultra. My yearly “treat yourself” moment is upgrading every year for the last 5 years. I had high hopes for the Pixel 6 Pro this year but I think I made the right choice here.

    • I tried the Pixel 6 Pro for two months, but the long list of bugs just became too much to handle. Going back to Samsung, preordered the 22Ultra today!

        • Pixel 6 Pro on vzw: Wifi calling is broken, I had to completely turn it off to prevent call dropping. Mobile signal is noticeably worse than on my Note9 I moved from. I have the dreaded keyboard crashing problem, where the keyboard will not appear until a phone restart or by going in to settings and changing the default keyboard from anything back to anything. Face detection while using as a voice phone is buggy and regularly ends calls or accidentally turns on mute. Doesn’t interact with my Fossil Gen6 watch correctly, it won’t allow it to ignore calls (worked fine when I was still on the Note9). Bluetooth audio in vehicle no longer displays content. And I don’t like the feel of the cheap plastic-y screen. Oh, and the fingerprint scanner is slow, but that doesn’t bother me. Maybe these are Android 12 problems, and maybe they’re isolated to the Verizon variant, but it’s enough to make me jump ship and go back to Sammy.

          • My P6P doesn’t have any of those problems. May be your P6P is defective, try to swap under warranty with Verizon.

          • Glad to hear yours is better. I’m kindof over it at this point, ready to move back to Samsung. I gave it a good 2 months, but I’m ready for that premium 22Ultra now.

  • Remember when the Pixel 6 was announced but reviewers could only offer hands on impressions the first week and that was a “RED FLAG”…. where’s the outrage for Samsung doing the exact same thing?!?!?!

    • There are many review videos and articles on these phones already, what are you talking about?

      • Only hands-on and first impressions videos are allowed right now. Anyone doing a full review is in violation of the embargo unless they purchased the device on the black market and didn’t receive it through an official Samsung source.

  • Yeah I’ve been at it for 3 and 1/2 hours and the cart keeps eating itself. Maybe we can all put our heads together and figure out exactly **how** Apple is making Samsung eat its own trousers in nearly every market. Hmmm, what could it be.

  • If I get one, it will be the S22. I’ll most likely preorder later today, knowing I’ll have a couple/few weeks to read reviews before it ships. Can always cancel if it seems like it sucks.

  • Samsung is only offering $500 for my S21+ so I probably won’t bother. If it had been $600 – $700 I might have pulled the trigger.

  • I got the ultra in green.
Verizon has a upgrade promotion today that if you get any s22 ultra you get the 256 gig version for the same price as the 128.
I normally don’t need that much storage but I’m also getting the extra four gigs of RAM for free.
I don’t mind being locked in for three years this phone should hold up.

    • That’s not the intent of the question. They aren’t asking how many of their readers aren’t ordering one. They want to know which model people are purchasing, of those who are actually making a purchase of one of those devices. Since you clearly aren’t one of those people, this has nothing to do with you. Sorry to shock you with such news.

    • Thicker, weighs more, high cost of memory. 8gigs of ram, prior had 12. Report on reddit that a note 20 used over 10 gig with opening just a few apps… there’s more but yeah. It’s not a note by any means

      • in terms of memory usage isn’t this OS more optimized now? Also, i remember reading something about somehow android developers have to use more ram when there’s a lack of processing power. And they no longer have to do this with modern processors? Just a thought.

      • You will not regret the Z Fold 3 its almost perfect. Only thing I really on the Z Fold 4 is a bigger battery.

        • Thinking the same thing- Will get all warm and cuddly with the 3 and trade in on the 4 or see what the Pixel foldable is all about-
