Kellen

It’s not often that you get to merge personal passions into a professional life, but that’s what Kellen did when he launched Droid Life in 2009. After working years of unsatisfying jobs in the medical and property management fields, he took a risk to try and create an online community while playing with the coolest gadgets on the planet each day, a risk that has turned out to be incredibly rewarding. Outside of Droid Life, Kellen is your typical Portlander who drinks way too much good beer, complains often about the Trail Blazers, and can be found out on the streets for a run, rain or shine.

  • Google has not offered better Black Friday deals for the past 3 years. $150 off is not a better deal than the launch offer where you could have had your phone 2 months earlier and got trade in credit on top of a $200 store credit.

  • If you take advantage of the discounted price, be sure to use one of the store credit codes for $100. Below is a code I received which should still be active.

  • This is gonna be super hard to not buy. Here is my superfans code! Get your $100 credit!

  • Well I was hoping the Pixel Watch was going to get a discount too to put it in the realm of its true value (~$250 max). Oh well! My persistence on holding out for the right price is far greater than Google’s holding the price steady.

  • The email is a little confusing…..is it saying $150 discount on the Pixel 7 Pro and that is it….or you can get the generous trade-in value of a phone. Can you get both or just one or the other?
I got a Pixel 3XL that they will give me $271 for but don’t know if I should pull the trigger now or wait until the 17th and risk losing that for just $150

    • I was wondering the same thing. I already got my Pixel 7, but I have a family member who wants to trade in Note 20 5G which currently would net them $490 in trade in. That would be amazing if they get the device for $500 (after the $100 discount) and get the nearly $500 trade in. I kind of doubt Google will have it work with both though…

    • I’ve posted the same question on other sites on this topic. Currently, I can get $500 for my 6pro on a 7 pro trade in. Does that mean I can get the 7pro for $250? If so, SCORE…..

  • That’s really tempting… here is my super fan code for $100 credit as well for anyone interested in purchasing:

  • Waiting on the deal and stack with Pixel 6 trade in for Pixel 7 plus superfan promo code.

Pixel super fan code L3DZQS92LXESS06TODPIHIL which gives me $100 store credit after my purchase. Yall can use it as well.

  • These are very good deals. I’m worried they’ll change trade-in pricing so it isn’t as good, though. I’m going to trade my old 6 Pro toward a 7 for my wife, and right now, Google is offering $500 in trade. I’m pretty convinced they’re going to lower the trade-in value concurrently with the Black Friday discount. I suppose even if they reduce the current trade in value by $100, it’ll be no worse a deal than it is now…

    • Here’s an additonal $100 store credit via referral. You need to be logged in to get the credit (no guest checkout) (updated 11/11):

      These codes should work (11/11):

  • This tells how well Pixel 7 is selling.

In other news, Apple is not giving any discount on iPhone 14 models.

    • And Foxcon announced this morning that last month they made only half of their quota for iPhone 14 Pro Max and this month making none to reduce inventory. Watch some CNBC business news before peddling your fan boy troupe

      • They made half of their quota because of Covid restrictions. They aren’t trying to reduce inventory, as you say. In fact, they can’t keep up with demand. So…not really sure what you saw on CNBC, but you got it completely wrong.

        • It’s been all over the news for weeks now that Apple isn’t moving anywhere near the number of 14’s they were expecting nor made. What rock have you been under?

          • Rock I’m living under? He was talking about the iPhone 14 Pro models. There’s no lack of demand for those. I currently work for a giant accessories manufacturer and can tell you that we are selling a TON of product for the Pro models. To your point, not as much for the non-Pro. But again, he said that they stopped producing the iPhone 14 Pro Max…it was the iPhone 14 Plus that they stopped making. So yeah…he was wrong.

          • I am not affiliated with holdthiscat in any way. I just wanted to be clear.

Also I’ve seen a mass exodus of isheeples to android on many forums. Kinda creepy!

    • What? Apple literally NEVER discounts the iPhone directly, only through carriers. And they don’t discount anything in their store outside of giving gift cards.

This isn’t the comparison you thought it was. On the other hand, all of the products are always on sale at retailers outside of the iPhone

    • iSheeple also will buy Apple devices at a premium price regardless just because it has an Apple on it. Seems like Android buyers tend to be a more deal-conscious when looking for a new phone.

      • “iSheeple also will buy Apple devices at a premium price regardless just because it has an Apple on it”, nah the vast majority of those who buy iPhones do so cause iPhones work very well with other Apple products, plus iPhones hold there value longer cause of the amount of years they’re supported(I wish my Pixel 2 XL was still supported like the iPhone 10 is that came out the same year).

    • Not sure what this has to do Apple. We know that Google is trying to increase its market share. So, naturally, they’ll be more inclined to discount.

    • That is a possibility. Perhaps Google learned from their Pixel 6 launch last year. It was smooth and easy with no hiccups while ordering the P7. All the models appeared to stay in stock over the first couple of days as well. Units seemed to ship in a timely manner (at least in my case). I believe they had more on-hand inventory and added capacity for pre-ordering. It wouldn’t surprise me they still have a decent amount of inventory left. What better way to get more Pixel phones out the door by giving a significant discount for the holidays?

      • I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s because the Pixel 7 phones aren’t selling as well as Google was hoping. After the disappointment of the Pixel 6 phones and the Pixel 7 phones not really being any better my expectations are pretty low.

        • Google may not have had enough inventory at launch for the Pixel 6 line. Difficult to tell considering their ordering system was overwhelmed by all the pre-order attempts. While your points may be valid, I tend to believe Google made corrections to avoid the P6 fiasco this time around.

          • Or maybe it just seems that way if sales of the Pixel 7 phones are way below sales of the Pixel 6 phones. The Pixel 6 phones were pretty disappointing and the Pixel 7 phones aren’t much different. I think the demand for Pixel phones went down.

          • A distinct possibility. With no hard numbers for P7 sales to compare with P6 sales from last year we can’t know for sure.
