Kellen

It’s not often that you get to merge personal passions into a professional life, but that’s what Kellen did when he launched Droid Life in 2009. After working years of unsatisfying jobs in the medical and property management fields, he took a risk to try and create an online community while playing with the coolest gadgets on the planet each day, a risk that has turned out to be incredibly rewarding. Outside of Droid Life, Kellen is your typical Portlander who drinks way too much good beer, complains often about the Trail Blazers, and can be found out on the streets for a run, rain or shine.

  • Welp, fuck me and my account through AT&T fiber. Guess I’m just gonna have the “ad-free” tier now? Probably gonna be the same for anyone who has their subscription through their cable or ISP.

  • Honestly don’t know why they are charging a premium for 4k content. Not many shows and movies are available in 4k other than the newer stuff that has been released since the introduction of HBO max.

    • Apparently they increased it and is now offering 1000+ movies/episodes in 4K with the release of Max (according to Variety and The Verge).

  • It’s complete nonsense that they charge more for 4k streaming! What about those of us who have 4k cable packages with HBO that comes with Max? Will those keep getting the 4k package or will our HBO subscription go up first?

    • That was always the plan! Saw that one from a mile away, considering good internet alone is pretty expensive

    • You make it cheaper by getting together with 4-6 family members or close friends. You all subscribe to 1-2 services each and share logins. Problem solved! ????

  • Their 4k lineup is so pathetic I’m surprised they have the balls to charge $20/mo. At least Netflix has a fair amount of movies and shows in 4k.

  • That’s BS. Apparently I’m losing 4K unless I want to pay more money. No thanks. I’ll just cancel instead.

    • Going to do the same, tired of these companies subsidizing lower tier and ad plans with 4k users. I thought $15 was already kind of steep for HBO so at $20 once I expire I’m out as well. 🙁

    • If you already have it, you’ll still get it for the next 6 months, before it goes away

So – cancel in 6 months lol

      • I need to finish my rewatch of Doctor Who first anyway. Was planning to cancel after I’m done with that.

  • Everything you can watch on HBO Max you can watch for free at your local public library

    • Whoa, whoa, hold on now, we’re just getting indoor plumbing around these parts, not sure when we can expect Max at the library!
