When we asked earlier in the week how everything was going with your new Galaxy S24 Series phone, we certainly expected lots of positive marks. After all, you potentially just spent anywhere from $500 to $1,300 for one and can’t imagine you doing so and then turning around to dump on your purchase. Tim also really likes the S24 Ultra after reviewing it, plus my regular S24 hasn’t made me mad yet. All of the phones in the S24 Series seem very good.
That said, so many of you answered at length about your experience and the positive remarks were noticeable. You guys really, really like the S24. Well, there was one person who didn’t, but that’s life.
Here are some reactions to the Galaxy S24 in the first few days of ownership.
Francisco grabbed a Galaxy S24+ and seems to be quite impressed by battery life:
I got the S24+, and I will agree that the battery life is amazing. My first day, took off the charger at 8am. Includes almost 2 hrs with Moto Android Auto adapter (battery hog) and over 5 hrs of screen time including over 1.5hrs of gaming. I went to bed at 1am and it was still at 20%.
He’s not the only one noticing improvements in battery life. Mamba94 made the switch from an S22 Ultra, which they already had great battery life with, but are calling this upgrade “great”:
Coming from the S22 ultra, this is such a great upgrade I’m loving everything. The battery life is phenomenal and that’s considering that I had great battery life with my S22 ultra. The phone is fast and responsive, the finger print reader is fast. Camera’s are great for me also.
Another reader, B!, said that the S24 Ultra is better than the S22 Ultra “in every way,” while reader DisqusSuqs (I agree) said they were a “big fan” of their regular S24 after 3 days and that it really gave them a mix of the world of iPhone (hardware/software design) and the “flexibility” of Android:
I’ve only had my S24 (not + or Ultra) for about 3 days now but I’m a big fan. I’ve always appreciated the design & aesthetic of iPhone/iOS but never wanted to leave Android so I’m okay with Samsung heading in that direction. It finally feels like I get the best of both worlds. I can have the hardware & software design of an iPhone with the freedom and flexibility of Android.
See, lots of great things going on in the S24 world.
We still have to point out the complaints, because there are some of those too. For example, it seems there are display issues that could be on more than just a few devices, where users are noticing a dim display or washed out colors. Some called the cameras good but not great, and still behind top Pixel and iPhones.
And finally, one reader appears to have finally been pushed to switching to an iPhone after upgrading to the Galaxy S24 Ultra, which they apparently sent back. They attributed the switch to their entire family having iPhones and that Samsung has become Boeing. Tough scenes, for sure.

Hey thanks for the quote!! It’s a great phone so far.
I’d be all over Samsung if they had call screening like Pixel phones do.
The Honor Magic V2 global is where its at, best phone for Android right now.
Y’all? Really? Can we done gone git some NASCAR stories now to?
I grew up in South Central Los Angeles in the 80’s………..saying y’all. That word hasn’t been limited to the South for decades.
Not really something that belongs in the title of a professional article though.
You’re going to hate the sportscasters on ESPN then.
That’s a given. The sheer volume of irrelevant and stupid comments they make is astounding.
Of all the things people complain about in our effed up world, you’re adding this to the list?

DxO Mark for S24 Ultra is extremely disappointing.
Real world performance, however, is not.
Actually most YT reviews crap on S24 camera!!
See Ben Sin’s review. Probably the most honest & non-biased review out there.
Had a S21 and was trying to decide on my upgrade path. Decided against the P8 series due to issues with the Tensor chip issues with 5G signal stability issues eating up battery life even though I really like the Pixel camera and stock Android experience having had this on my P2. Was trying to decide between the S24 Ultra and S24+ and decided against paying extra for the Ultra because I really didn’t have a need for the S Pen and the extra camera lens. With the + having its specs bumped up from the S23+ and having a bigger trade-in value than the base S24, I decided to go that route.
Have been loving the battery life and the improved camera experience over the old S21. Having all my notifications change back to the default notification has been a PITA but slowly getting it customized and getting logged into all my apps again.
Though it took a long ass time (over 1½ hours), I’m glad that with Smart Switch almost all my settings & logins were transferred over from my S22 Ultra to my S24 Ultra; and the settings/apps that weren’t were very few (I think like 3-5 apps & a couple settings). I mean, it remembered my One Hand Operation+ settings, my gallery settings, my developer option settings….a whole lot of how my phone is customized to my liking vs someone like my wife who pretty much uses her sh¡t fresh out the box. That was pretty impressive to me.
Agreed about Smart Switch. It was very seamless to upgrade and transfer my data and settings wirelessly vs having to use a cable between phones from the years past. I just can’t have all my apps using the default system notification sound as I prefer them to have their own sounds so I am not constantly looking at my phone for something that’s not important to me.
I get you with the notification sounds. From early on I always have my phone on vibrate so I don’t have to change settings going to church, work, etc. As smartphone notifications progressed I went from relying on notification LED colors to seeing notification icons & hearing the vibration patterns. I know 1 vibration is a text message, 2 vibrations is an email & 7 vibrations is my wife (1 for every letter in her name). So pretty much if it vibrates past 2 times I know I need to look at that screen. LOL.
Thanks for the quote up front!!!! whoo hoo…
More battery life info… yesterday took it off at 5am, by 8pm I was at 50%, although with just under 4hr screentime.. not much gaming. by midnight, I was at 30%. However, I realized that was at FHD+ resolution. moved it to QHD+ and it ate some more batter the day before that I tested it. Will have to try at the !QHD one day to see how it does.
Please share your experience with QHD
I’ll probablydo it thursday or friday.
I went from a Note 20 Ultra to S22U to S23U to S24U. S24U has the best battery life and performance by far from that group. Camera ranges from wildly impressive to somewhat underwhelming, depending on situation.
I am loving the flat screen, flatter sides and improved physical buttons. S-pen is phyiscally easier to eject and handle as well. Speaker volume and sound quality is really nice. We finally have Wi-Fi 7 support. Signal strength for 5G and wi-fi is fantastic in my testing so far.
But a shocking ton of small software bugs and OneUI is becoming as bloated and unwieldy as TouchWiz was years ago. I am stunned how Samsung can let devices ship with so many bugs.
The AI stuff seems gimmicky and mostly tacked-on but the blemish eraser in Photo Editor works shockingly well. Titanium is “nice” but not a game-changer by any means.
My wishlist for the S25?
-Multi-stage shutter or multifunction button (ala OG Droid & Droid X).
-2TB storage variant and 16GB RAM
-QI2 support
-Significant camera improvements and less shutter lag. Samsung is still garbage at trying to capture kids, pets or anything moving.
-I am still missing 10x optical zoom. Would be nice to see that return coupled with a better sensor.
“Camera ranges from wildly impressive to somewhat underwhelming, depending on situation.”
Can definitely agree.

Best battery since Note 3
Can’t remember my Note 3 battery life, but I know after a year my Note 4 battery life was trash.
love my s24, battery life is soooo good.
Only 2 days in with my S24+ but I’m not seeing noticeably better battery life than with my S23+.
You know, I’ve been reading more online reviews comparing both of those models and your conclusion was verified. Interesting.
I have both, 23U for work and 24U for my personal. My 23U is only 4 months old. I get about 3 more hours of battery life from my s24U and it gets most of the usage through out the day.
Does it still come with the useless duplicate apps?
It does but I was able to very quickly normalize everything thanks to a Nova backup restore.
This is the only app that I manually install so I can use my phone much better. Once it’s set as the default launcher I do Smart Switch to restore the rest of my settings.
Anyone use a MAG Charger for their device? If so which one please 🙂
Is this better battery life with QHD or FHD+?
I have mine with full FHD+ and last for 2-3 days.. .. If i am in a area with bad cell, yes 2 days
Laughing at the people amazed that their battery life is better in a phone that is 2 years new than their previous device. Outside of marginally better battery life, seriously what does the s24 have over s23, s22, s21 etc… marginally better cameras, marginally better screen. The titanium on the ultra does give it a nice feeling, but 90% of consumers will put the phone in a case and will never know the difference.
This isn’t a knock per say on Samsung directly, but phone technology has improved so greatly over the past 10 years, that we are truly at a plateau. 99% of the time you’ll never use the power capabilities of the SD Gen 3, GPU, RAM. My Pixel 6 feels just as snappy as the grand new P8P.
Damn must be nice cuz my p8p does not feel snappy. Or get good battery life. Or get good signal. Fml
That’s Google Hardware. Exact same for me. I wish it was different.
Hurts. But I cant leave that camera????
The difference between the cameras is not significant enough tbh. I left the P8P and couldn’t be happier. Long gone are the days of dealing with a warm phone and sweating the battery by 5PM. Now I can go 2 days with the s24 Ultra and it’s also faster than the P8P. I could not be happier with the switch (note that I’ve owned every Pixel and have also had Samsung devices).
I would agree with most of what you said but the reason I changed to the S23 Ultra was the poor performance of the Pixel 6 Pro and the much weaker hardware that causes it.
I would love to stick with Pixel phones (used every Pixel phone until the Pixel 6 Pro) but ultimately switched and while I miss the Pixel’s way superior camera I don’t miss its bad performance, extremely slow charge speeds and horribly bad battery life.
I couldn’t agree more about the Pixel 6. It made my list as one of the worst phones I’ve owned.
After 6 months later the battery life will be decrease like my experiences with all my Samsung devices but I still love it
“My Pixel 6 feels just as snappy as the grand new P8P”
Seriously…. Was your comment supposed to be a good one? Phones should get better with each iteration. TEch improves, etc… so a 2 yo phone feels the same as your new phone? Was that supposed to be some bizarro diss? I’d expect my phone to have something better than the prior year, etc…
So if we are all saying our new S24/+/U is doing MUCH better in battery life, then that is one wonderful improvement. So your P8P plateaued by P6, so not sure why you should even get a new Pixel then.. right?
“Laughing at the people amazed that their battery life is better in a phone that is 2 years new than their previous device.”
Laughing at you not making sense as my S22 Ultra was 2½ years older than my Note 10+ but got the same battery life despite having a larger battery.
“seriously what does the s24 have over s23, s22, s21 etc… marginally better cameras, marginally better screen. The titanium on the ultra does give it a nice feeling, but 90% of consumers will put the phone in a case and will never know the difference.”
To simplify it, everything about my S24 Ultra is better than my S22 Ultra. In-hand feel w/o a case, animations, responsiveness, optimization, flat display vs curved display, battery life (despite having the same size battery), display resolution (despite having a “washed colors issue”), etc.
So again, everything is better. Everything.
Thanks for the quote, Kellen!
And yes, I’m loving this phone! The overall UI is amazing. Very snappy & responsive. Normally I’d turn animations off on my previous Galaxy’s but the refinements from 2 gens back to now are stellar.
I”m still on the 22Ultra, best phone I’ve ever had and dont yet feel the need to upgrade. Can you tell us more about the screen issues, washed out colors, etc? The amazing screen is one of my favorite things about the 22u.
Idk how the screen thing got overblown this display on the 24 ultra is beautiful and I’ve had the 23 ultra and 22u which was not a good time for me
I’m definitely not saying the issues don’t exist, but with the exception of 1 screenshot, every image & all other content on my S24 Ultra looks better than in my S22 Ultra.
Samsung has become Boeing? What does that even mean?
