Hey, NVIDIA SHIELD TV and SHIELD TV Pro owners, a surprise update just dropped and it isn’t just a bug fixer. Well, it is a bug fixer, but NVIDIA mentions in this “Upgrade 9.2” that there are several enhancements too, as well as an update to the AURO-3D app. Nice!
The update was announced by NVIDIA this morning and we’ve been told that the update is already live for many. If you’d like to go looking for it, hit up your settings on the SHIELD TV and grab it.
As for what’s new, there’s an update to AURO-3D that “unlocks full support for playback of high-resolution immersive sound in AURO-3D over HDMI.” I have no idea what that means, but I’m sure you AURO-3D users will be extremely happy to learn this.
In the “Enhancements” department, there’s support for the “Match audio consent resolution” feature when using a USB DAC, the ability to clear an HDMI 1.4 flag, a new “Match Frame Rate (beta)” feature, and more.
Finally, for bug fixes, there at least 23 that NVIDIA felt worthy of being called-out. Everything from Geforce NOW crashes to stuttering in Bose and Sony headsets and choppy video playback have all been addressed. You’ll definitely want to dive into the changelog below to see if any of your issues have been addressed.

Cheers Eric and Scott!
I waited till 2023 hoping for a new Shield, but finally caved after it went on sale. Best streamer ever!
Updated my 2015 and 2019 Pros and everything is working great so far.
They really need new hardware at this point.
Shield TV is the best android TV investment by far! 2015 & 2017
Thanks. You just broke my 2015 shield all i get is a blank screen after the update. Thanks for nothing. ????????????
Sounds like operator error to me.
I'm the one who reported it to them and I had no issues with mine. So don't blame them and go F off!
Nvidia letting us know it still cares. Still the best Android TV box on the market. I run 3 of them, all 2019 shield pros. Never had a problem outside of a needed reboot now and then. With Nvidia's financial power, would really like to see a new shield, but the ones I have continue to be reliable and run everything well.
It is truly without competition. I'm still surprised at the longevity they have had.
I also have 3 – 2 Pro's and 1 standard. Love these things! Will not replace until (hopefully) NVidia creates a new one.
Feel the same way but I have considered getting the Lenovo Tab or Redmagic Nova tablet to use as an android TV/portable gaming device. To be able to add the google play library of games to my TV device is sooo tempting.
