Stumbling upon Droid Life randomly after purchasing a Motorola DROID in late 2009, then setting out to learn everything he could about Android, Tim quickly became an integral part of the site's comment section. After quite some time of strictly commenting on Droid Life, Tim was offered an opportunity to write feature stories for the site, such as custom ROM overviews, as well as interviews with Android community members. Following success of those, Tim became a full time writer and editor for Droid Life, now spending his time on news articles, device reviews, producing videos, and much more. Tim currently resides in Portland, OR with his longtime girlfriend and two wonderful dog children (Loki & Thor). In his spare time, Tim enjoys playing guitar, drinking coffee, practicing photography, and destroying kids on Call of Duty.

  • Was looking forward to the Edge but I think I'm going to wait until next year to upgrade. I'm still on a S24U and don't see a need to upgrade at the moment.

  • What if it is solid state battery?
    They last 20 – 40% longer so 3700mah == 4800mah lithium ion.
    Probably not though lol.

  • Maybe I'm one of the few that wants a smaller flagship phone? I actually wish it was smaller like s25 and thin. My s25 ultra is too bulky, my pockets look ridiculous. I remember the old days, my HTC Touch Diamond comes to mind, nice and compact.

  • After only using XL phones and switching to the smaller Pixel 9 Pro, I can completely understand the appeal of smaller/lighter phones now. Phones have gotten too damn heavy.

I care about cameras too much so I would never take a downgrade in that department though.

  • Consumers are asking for more battery, Chinese companies are doing it, putting in more battery, and Samsung is doing the opposite ????????

  • Thinnness is not a feature. Especially not at the expense of battery life and cameras.

  • i want battery life to a point. My 24+ was great until it got the new OS and Samsung UI7. Now i'm having to charge it at least once before I go to bed. Before, it would last until 11p or later with maybe 20% left.

So for a thinner phone, I'd rather have the batter life.

    • Now i'm having to charge it at least once before I go to bed¹. Before, it would last until 11p or later with maybe 20% left².

¹What time do you take it off the charger in the morning?
²How much SoT were you averaging?

I ask because I have the S24 Ultra & even after the update I can go from taking it off the charger at 6AM to 12AM w/ about 36% left & our phones only have a 100 mAh difference. Mind you, I'm only using about 42% of my battery & only getting 4½ hours of SoT, but even with 6+ hours of Sot I can go from 6AM to midnight & have 15% battery left.

      • 1- I'd take it off the charger about 7am ish. I stay up until about 1am, so unless it was low, or I needed to do something out in the evening, I generally didn't need to charge it.

2- I'd easily do over 4.5hrs of screen time up to 6.5+. The biggest hog I have is Android Auto/waze with my Moto wireless adapter. I drive around 45min one way to work, plus any extra detours around.

I used to be able to go late at night without worrying about battery life. 2 days ago, I used 6.5 SOT, but taking it off the charger by 8am, by 6pm I was about 20% (about 5-5.5hr SOT). Charged a little bit before using again after 7pm. I'd be at 20% normally much later than 6pm before.

        Hopefully it improves.

        • Ahh, okay. I experienced a drop in normal battery usage shortly after the update, but I wiped the cache & it’s been acting normal ever since.

          “with my Moto wireless adapter.”

Can you tell me the name of your Moto wireless adapter, please? I got my wife some off brand Amazon sh¡t for Christmas & cannot pair it to her car.

          • Motorola MA1 adapter. Amazon has it for $50. ?Normally it was 100 then 80, and now it seems 50. Works well. just a batter drain with the new UI

          • NP. The instructions are easy, but I believe you have to first activate AA with the hard cable, then once connected, you can unplug and plug in the adapter. Then you go through the pairing. Don't have to do that again. Fairly quick connections when you turn on the car. I love it though, although my next car will have wireless android auto included…. enjoy

          • Thanks again! My wife had her Civic from 2006-2022. No telling how long she plans on keeping her CR-V. Once I hook this up for her she’ll think her car’s brand new again. LOL.

  • Would MUCH rather a smaller device that's maybe not as thin, but instead gets even better battery life because of it's smaller screen, like Sony Compact models of yore

  • Battery life doesn't bother me as much as losing the telephoto lens. Would rather lose the wide angle.
