SHIELD TV Upgrade 9.2.1 Brings Big GeForce NOW Improvement, Plus Bug Fixes

NVIDIA is shipping out SHIELD TV Experience Upgrade 9.2.1 to all SHIELD TV and SHIELD Pro owners this month. Inside, there’s a major GeForce NOW upgrade for Ultimate subscribers, as well as a solid list of bug fixes for those still utilizing SHIELD TV as their primary multimedia box.

GeForce NOW gamers can now access 120fps at 1080p, which is certainly an optimal graphics option for many titles. Again, you’ll need an Ultimate membership to access this setting. For bug fixes, NVIDIA lists a fix for Dolby Vision content stutters, TV tuner fix, corrected PLEX playback issues, and plenty else.

You can view the full changelog below.

  • Support to stream games on NVIDIA GeForce NOW at 120FPS up to 1080p resolution. GeForce NOW Ultimate membership required.

Resolved Bugs

  • Fixes night mode being skipped when DAP is ON.
  • Fixes Dolby Vision content stutters when frame match feature is enabled.
  • Fixes match content audio resolution while using an USB DAC.
  • Adds back HQS / Maxrate option for USB audio.

  • I still use my Shield daily, including Geforce Now, so I am thrilled they are still supporting it

Still wish they'd bring back the YouTube home page channel but, overall, I still think it's a great device and I really do hope it still has plenty more life in it.

  • The support is great but they really really need a hardware refresh.

    • With a custom launcher, the need is slightly diminished but I wouldn't mind some new hardware too (edit: for me, specifically, it's so I could get more than gigabit to it to help with the really high quality stuff).

Stock launcher, it's definitely janky for sure. I have two pros and 1 regular tube one…custom launcher on all of them really improved the operation.

        • Super easy. I use the "Projectivy" launcher on my 2 Shield Pros and 1 Shield Regular. It's awesome. Once I set one up, I used an app called "Send Files to TV" (made by Yablio) to transfer the files between my Shields so I could load the same profile/menu setup on each.
