if you try to trade in a smartwatch then it raises the price of the watch to $499 upon which it might accept a $200 discount which STILL leaves you at $299.

I tried it and what he explained does happen…so it seems he did "actually try it". You didn't screenshot the final price you'll pay. The trade-in value is nullified there. Appears Samsung isn't allowing the stacking of discounts of Black Friday and trade-in.
Me again. Wanted to edit prior comment but can't? IDK. Anyway, I was wrong, sorta. My trade-in value of $300 netted me an actual savings of only $100. The price dropped to $199.
