Kellen

It’s not often that you get to merge personal passions into a professional life, but that’s what Kellen did when he launched Droid Life in 2009. After working years of unsatisfying jobs in the medical and property management fields, he took a risk to try and create an online community while playing with the coolest gadgets on the planet each day, a risk that has turned out to be incredibly rewarding. Outside of Droid Life, Kellen is your typical Portlander who drinks way too much good beer, complains often about the Trail Blazers, and can be found out on the streets for a run, rain or shine.

      • From what I've read Visible uses a centralized routing system that leads to noticeably higher latency, while the actual VERIZON branded prepaid uses the distributed routing that postpaid uses. For most people that won't matter, but for those who have cause to care that would be a reason to stick to the main brand.

        • I have Verizon postpaid for my work and Visible + Pro for my personal. I do speed tests from both phones on the same server close to the same time. My latency is maybe within 5ms from each other and sometimes my visible latency is actually better. The only thing I really notice is that my location will be in a different state for a ping test. It’s just routing traffic to a different exit node.

      • Especially considering the 5G UW & tethering differences – I regularly make use of the unlimited tethering on Visible, and see speeds of 500+ Mbps regularly on the tethered connection, and 500-1000 Mbps on my phone. I haven't noticed any latency/"Network Optimization" issues, but if I had, they'd have to be pretty major for me to consider paying more than twice as much for the same network + a data-limited hotspot connection!
