A Verizon outage has taken out service to several areas in the US.
Taking a look across the internet this morning reveals a major Verizon service outage throughout the US. Checking places like reddit or Downdetector show that there were hundreds of thousands of reports shortly after 9AM Pacific (12MP Eastern). Hotspots of outages include both coasts, Texas, and parts of the south. This looks to be a big one.
We have at least one phone connected to Verizon’s network, although it’s actually through Visible, their prepaid service. As of right now in Portland, OR, it has service. However, reports of the outage continue as I type this. Some have suggested their service has been down for well over an hour, and that tracks with when the reports first began.

- UPDATE 11:12AM PACIFIC: We’re at the 2-hour mark and service is still down in several areas of the US. The outage is big enough that Verizon’s own network status checker (here) is basically broken and is struggling to load. Verizon also shared an update and has acknowledge the outage.
- UPDATE 12:15PM PACIFIC: Reports of the outage continue into the 3rd hour. No new updates yet from Verizon on when service will be restored.
- UPDATE 1:07PM PACIFIC: At the 4-hour mark and the outage continues. We’ll only update this post again if service is restored or if Verizon puts out another statement. For now, it just looks like we’re out for the time being.

Fun fact . The outage was related to iphones and wifi . Unlike anything else apple connects to its message server and travels voice over it as well. The outage had to do with the fact they were NOt going through verizons network for voice .
Note every case on X has to do with SOS mode . SoS is ONLY on iphones . On the android side we have NEVER called it that because it doesn't say that it has said emergency calls only or emergency only etc……
My wife's S24+ (and several other non-iPhone VZW users I know) was affected by the outage.
My S25 Ultra on Verizon lost all service on the 13th, around 4pm, was out of service for about 45 mins or so, no internet or phone services available. I finally restarted my phone, after airplane mode didn't help. After the restart, I was back on a strong 5GUW full bar signal. I had no outages at all in voice or internet data, here in Phoenix AZ today.
Verizon will pass on the charge to the customers for the work it took for their engineers to fix the issue
Verizon here in central PA and mine just came back at about 7:30 pm Eastern time.
No service here in the Southern California desert.
Oh, that's right. I switched to T-Mobile almost 10 years ago. ????
No issue with Visible in Murrieta, Ca at 3:11 PM Pacific.
Np on Visible in SW Florida.
No verizon service on my Pixel 10 Pro here in Yonkers NY all day since around 8 am and still no service.

I don't have service on my Pixel 10 Pro XL but my wife has service on her Galaxy S25 Ultra. We are on different accounts though. Thought that was interesting.
My wife, daughter & I are on the same account. My S24 Ultra & my daughters' iPhone 17 weren't affected, but my wife's S24+ & my 17 Pro were. All on the same plan.
Been down the past hour in Eastern PA, weirdly enough my wife on the same account we share, is not down….
SOS in Lake County (Central) Florida. Just noticed it within the last hour.
