DROID Brand Continues to Dominate, Makes Up 44% of Android Traffic

Did we need to be reminded that the Droid franchise is awesome?  Probably not.  But if you did, just check out the chart above from Chitika who claims that our favorite lineup of phones makes up for 44% of Android traffic on their ad network with the original Droid still leading the charge.   Talk about an impressive number there.  The number 2 device on their list was the HTC EVO, but after that it goes Droid X, Incredible, Vibrant and Droid 2.  So of the top 6 devices, 4 of them are family members.  Again, wow.

Check out the full top 20 list after the break.

Cheers to the marketing group behind the Droid brand!

Is the Nexus one really that rare? I swear I've seen more of those than Backflips

Droid X is the dominant phone accessing LauncherPro Icons (bit.ly/getlpi) followed by the OG Droid then the Evo. My stats are a bit uglier because I don't do much filtering out, but here are my overall model stats:

Also interestingly, I have a tiny fraction of users on Gingerbread. 68% of my users are on Froyo.

best part of this is that 100% of people on android say they have a “DROID”.
    56.47% of people are lying.

    +1 for marketing

    1. I do have a droid. I have the original the one that led the way for all the wannabes.

    I'm confused… 4 of the top 6 are droid phones. I only see 3, Droid, Droid 2, and Droid X. What's the 4th?

While I'm at it (being new to all of this) What's the difference between a Droid and a device that uses Android? Can't we all be one big happy family here?

    1. The350zWolf

Does anyone know just how many original Moto Droids have been sold? I read 5 million once but can't remember where.

  11. CPGustafson511

    HTC Ally?

  12. GinoSylum

Droid Incredible is a WAY underused device. I guess is was the way they had so many back orders when it launched that people didn't jump on it. Its a great phone that not enough people use. My worthless 2 cents 😉 haha

    1. I agree… I love my DInc! 🙂

  13. eddieonofre

why but is that chart other has 28% of traffic so that is number one

    1. X2f0181

Because Other, if you look at the break down, is a combination of OTHER devices. Like the Moment, Cliq, Backflip and so on according to the list. Combined their numbers beat the Droid, duh, so does everything else combined. This chart just shows the fact that the Droid brand is a top seller as a whole.

    2. Timoh

English? If your question is what I think you're trying to say. Other is probably comprised of 20+ different phones.

PS. It isnt the HTC Ally…. its the LG Ally 😀

    1. kimir

yeah. trying to think of an htc ally….. fail

  15. Ahh, good ol' D1 :D. This doesn't surprise me, the best phones, on one of the better carriers 🙂

  16. Sure doesn't look like the Droid 2 is as big a failure as some would like to believe.

Long live the Grand Orginal Droid (G.O.D.) ! 🙂

Even after a year, Droid Does Domination!
