This might be the deal of the century right here people. If you want to pick up a Motorola XOOM and pay just $600 for the non-contract version (the $799 version) then follow these steps immediately. This is not a scam, not a joke, but is absolutely the real deal. And if you just purchased one from Best Buy or Verizon, you may want to consider returning it to save yourself a couple hundred bucks.

I called customer service yesterday – was polite, but firm and told them that I ordered it a week ago and have not received a confirmation number and that I needed it by Friday, as I wanted to take it on vacation. Basically, I got the same runaround. Asked to speak to a manager. After 10 minutes the rep came back and said that I could wait longer – she apologized and offered to refund my one day shipping charge and said it would probably ship Friday but she could do no better. Defeated, I thanked her and resigned myself to getting it when I return. I still have not received a shipping confirmation but I went to the Fedex website and lo and behold, it is shipping today, priority overnight with estimated delivery by 10:30 AM tomorrow! I shall now give you all a provisional “Woot!”

Didn’t bother saying anything about needing it tomorrow, just inquired where was it after ordering it last Thursday night and paying for overnight shipping. She offered to refund it and ship it out tomorrow morning. About a minute later it was in Fedex’s system using the Track by Reference technique.

What’s weird though, is that the $662 dollar transaction no longer appears in my checking account, and as of Monday my balance is $662 higher? They might have botched this and giving it free! Anyone else experience the same thing?

Just got off the phone with Moto Customer support.
CSR told me that due to the problem with the coupons there were ‘IT’ problems and they were trying to sort them out.Told me he didn’t know when they were going to ship despite being given a window of 28th-1st for delivery. Seems that we’re at the 1st and mine has yet to even ship.
I asked if they were going to refund the $15 I paid for 1-day shipping, he said no.
So the word from Moto is basically “STFU, you’ll get it when we decide to ship it regardless of what shipping you paid for.”
Classy.

I called Motorola and asked about the coupon from last night’s mess, and the rep explained it and said “I can give you a 10% discount on the Xoom and any accessories, but that’s the best I can do. Nothing new that anyone hasn’t already shared. I called Motorola sales and they denied that anyone that thinks they got a discount will be getting one. etc etc. Hopefully Kellex can get some real scoop on this and get something a little more official…since it seems like every Motorola rep (at least from what other comments are saying) has a different story.

I waited over a half hour but after “Natalie” said they pulled it from the system I asked if there was any other promotion she could help me with. She said the best she could do was 15% off. I asked her for the promo code because I had the order all set, just needed to hit the place order button and she said there was no code, she would have to do it.
I just passed 45 minutes. Of course this was after calling Amazon customer service which was useless since they said I had to contact Motorola directly even though it was processed by Amazon’s checkout service.
I got so screwed. I used the code, it said it was taking off 200 in my cart. I clicked the last button to complete the order and it literally removed it when processing the order. I didn’t even notice until I looked at the emailed receipt. Now I’m stuck on freakin hold waiting to get a sales rep to cancel the order (assuming they won’t honor the coupon). I took too much time trying to get the case to show up as free in the cart I guess.

Today is a good day. Picked up the Xoom for $789 @Costco. Plan on keeping it for as long of the 90 day return policy as I need. Although I could not convince the sales reps there to let me buy it without putting me on the month to month plan @$20/mo + $35 activation fee. They say I can cancel the data plan within 3 days to avoid getting stuck with that $35 fee.

I am interested to see how many people actually used this code. I got it mine in time, so I’m happy. Hopefully, if a large amount of people did use it, Moto may consider releasing a WiFi only version sooner, and a Google Experience (Vanilla Android, no blur, easy bootloader unlock) phone yearly.

Motorola, you should see how many units you sold at this $200 “discount” price and realize that $599 price tag is probably the the only way to dominate the market (to me, a lower price is much more effective marketing than giving a gold version to all Oscar nominees). A few years ago, my brother bought a TV from Best Buy’s website after he saw a thread on a forum showing a mistake in their system. The TV was supposed to list for $1,499, but online it listed for $499. He snatched one up, and an hour later, the price was fixed. This was on a Sunday, so even though the transaction didn’t go through until Monday when the banks opened, they had to honor the deal and he got a 42″ Samsung LCD TV for $499. He sold the TV a week later on craigslist and payed his mortgage and car payment with it.
Still pissed, I was about 20 minutes late!! DAMN you Motorola, just put the WIFI only version out already, at least give us a release date!!

Promotion code was never meant to work on the XOOM, but they catagorized the XOOM as an accessory on their site not a “Phone” so code applied to it.
They have since revoked the code.
I had an order in when code worked, got an email receipt confirmation of my order. Then got another email half hour later saying my order had been canceled.
When I called in they said order had been canceled due to it being “out of stock and order unable to be fullfilled”. Then when I called back a guy explained to me that code being applied was a mistake. Will be interesting to see if other folks do indeed get their cheep xoom.

I called Moto 1-800 number and sat on hold for over 40 minutes. I then explained I was trying to order the Xoom and use a coupon code she said that they pulled the code for some reason (I knew why but played dumb) I asked her if there was any other promotional code she could help me out with and she said the best she could do is the 15% off, so I jumped on it. Worked for me…my advice though is being polite goes a long way!

Probably a stupid question, but one I haven’t seen the answer to anywhere. If you buy the unsubsidized Xoom, how do you get data without a data plan?
you can add a no contract month-to-month plan at any time.
But then why would anyone pay the unsubsidized cost? If you have to get a data plan anyway?
Because then you can ditch it when the new hotness comes out without having to pay an ETF.
Wifi or you pay month-to-month service.
