For this episode of the Droid Life Show, we’re recapping Google’s “Launch Night In” event, where the company announced the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G, Nest Audio, and Chromecast with Google TV. Are we buying them all? None? Some?
If we have time, we’ll try to recap our Galaxy Z Fold 2 review, which is now live on the site. We also want to make sure you know when Amazon Prime Day 2020 is.
No trivia this week. Womp, womp.
We’ll be live at 10:00AM Pacific (1:00PM Eastern).

Maybe. Im torn between the P5 and the S20FE. While I love the simplicity/updates of the Pixel line its clear the FE is a more robust phone for the same price.
I am in the same boat. REALLY want to move away from samsung. HOWEVER, Google f’d up the launch AGAIN and didnt put it on carriers. I would buy but because I cant trade in my phone like I do at tmobile (with a balance and just get a new phone), looks like the FE is where I am headed unfortunately.
Why not just sell your phone yourself, you’d probably make more than whatever trade value they’d give you as well. Personally prefer the non carrier route but I can understand your frustration.
Edit:missed the part where you said it had a balance lol. Read it too quickly my mistake.
Already pre ordered. I’m still rocking the 2XL and wanted to wait out the 4XL. The 2XL has still been great, but Android 11 has introduced some lag issues.
Not planning to. Not because I don’t like it but because I have a 4XL and tend to update every other cycle.
I really don’t know what phone to buy to replace my Note 9 when it’s time. Want a sd card, stereo speakers and a very good camera. Would still like a headphone jack if possible. Hard to get the right combo….
Yes, but I didn’t pre-order on the day it was released as I’ve done with all of the previous Pixel devices. I’m still butthurt from the previous Pixels going on sale literally just a couple of weeks after I paid the full, pre-order price. Also waiting on reviews as well to make sure it’s not a step backwards going from a Pixel 4xl. Almost worth it though to get a fingerprint scanner back.
Pixel 5 looks nice, but no I won’t be buying – very happy 4a owner
I was gonna get a S20 FE but I played with one at Best Buy yesterday and I really disliked how narrow the screen was and the plastic back felt so cheap.
I’m super disappointed in the fact that the P5 only has a 6″ screen, especially for the fact that I’m coming from a 6.67″ screen, but I want a great camera, no glass back, and fingerprint sensor. I’m gonna wait till black Friday though because $700 is wayyy too much for a midrange phone. Definitely disappointed by the UFS2.1 storage though.
Wait, the P5 is also 2.1 ufs not 3.1 or even 3.0? Seriously? Ugh
Does this mean I’m sticking with my Essential Phone with Gcam port on my second line until something decent comes about? Or the Pixel5 is at most $499??
Wow your Essential is still running? Mine became unusable months ago.
Runs smooth and clean with Android 10 with its ultimate last update from February this year. Camera still sucks tho.
One of these days the time will again line up with my schedule 🙁
