In need of a new game this Friday? As suggested by Google in their Editor’s Choice section of Google Play, comes Wind-up Knight. Upon playing I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the graphics and touchscreen controls. As a bonus the game is completely free and contains 50+ levels to fight through. You play as a robotic knight for the good king who’s main goal is to save a princess. Shocker. The game plays like a really good 3D version of classic Mario. (more…)

Madfinger’s Dead Trigger Update Goes Live, Early Buyers Receive Good Compensation
Madfinger pushed an update for Dead Trigger this morning. If you happen to be one of the many people who bought the game for a dollar before it was made free due to “unbelievably high piracy rates,” you’re going to love this update. For those that purchased, there is a brand new alien gun, new Story missions, new items such as a laser turret and mini-mortars, and free gold + Casino chips. Not bad. (more…)

Phosphor Game’s Horn Launches for Mobile Devices, Coming to Android “Soon”
This is starting to become a theme for the good Android games. This morning, the anticipated new game Horn from Phosphor Games (the makers of Dark Meadow) was released onto iTunes, but no love yet for Android. The game was previewed at Google I/O and looks genuinely awesome. The game is a third-person action adventure title where players roam around a “console-like” world all with touch controls. (more…)

Humble Bundle #3 is Live – 4 Games at a Price You Decide, Bonus if You Pay Enough
The Humble Bundle has returned this morning for a third time, giving gaming enthusiasts a chance to pick up four games at a price they can set themselves. As is always the case, you get to specify where your money goes when buying these games. You can choose to help fund a charity (Child’s Play or the EFF), give back to the developers of the games, or toss in a tip to the Humble Bundle crew. You can spend a dollar if you’d like, or you can jump up the price to whatever you feel is necessary. If you pay more than the average price, you’ll get access to a 5th game.
The Humble Bundle #3 games are Fieldrunners, Bit.Trip Beat, SpaceChem, Uplink, and Spriits. (more…)

[Humor] Google Play’s Top 10 Most Expensive Applications
For fun, we set out to search for Google Play’s most expensive applications. The task was easier than we had initially thought it would be, but surprisingly, the apps turned out to be completely ridiculous and mostly a waste of time for buyers. Except for one publisher who has a large portfolio of both educational and uber expensive applications that would be used by medical students, the rest of Google Play’s priciest is just a random list off “Show off your cash” apps that would only be purchased by someone who had an IQ of less than zero.

Playstation Mobile Means New Games, Only if Your Device is Playstation Certified
Remember the Xperia PLAY? The slider with the gaming controls underneath that was supposed to usher in a new hybrid of mobile phones and mobile gaming, but didn’t do too well. That device was the beginning of Playstation Certification, which means that Playstation gives (usually Sony) devices the OK to have Playstation games run on them. In their press conference today at Gamescom, Sony announced that Playstation Mobile is making a push for “bite-sized” games coming to phones and tablets sometime soon.
There were other interesting announcements during this conference, including the fact that if you make a purchase through Playstation Mobile, that game will be available on your PS Vita, your phone and your tablet with only that one purchase. Sony also announced that ASUS and Wikipad are now Playstation Certified partners, meaning you might be able to get some nice games on your Transformers.
Do these new announcements make you wish that your device was Playstation Certified?

EA Games’ Download Portal Origin Coming to Android in the Near Future
EA announced at the recent GamesCon press conference that they are going to bring their Origin game download portal to Android, expanding its reach from the PC. Origin is similar to Steam where games are downloaded directly from a web portal to the device, and EA thinks they have a big enough fan base to sell their games through their own service. Currently Star Wars: The Old Republic and Battlefield 3 are some of the top games being sold through Origin.
If Origin does come to Android, all of the EA Games in the Play Store now would probably disappear, and from then on out only be sold through the Origin application. A tentative February 2013 date was thrown out but they were not very firm on that. EA doesn’t have the best reputation in the Android community as of late, would you buy any games through Origin on your phone or tablet?
