OpenFeint and The9 Want More iOS Games on Android, Offer up $100 Million Development Fund
Our friends over at OpenFeint have some great news for the Android gamers in the building. They just announced a new partnership with The9, a Chinese game developer, to help bring more hot titles from iOS over to Android by funding the porting process. Backed by a $100 million developer fund, these two companies together plan to pick out games that they feel could succeed on Android and will then facilitate the move over.
If you are a developer and are interested in having your game backed by one of mobile gaming’s best, then hit them up at androidfund@openfeint.com for more info.

Angry Birds Seasons St. Patty’s Day is on the Way!
Those silly birds found love on Valentine’s Day, but that wasn’t enough. It looks like they plan to steal back their pot ‘o gold from the evil pigs too when an update to Angry Birds Seasons is released within the next few days. A St. Patrick’s Day version should be available by…well, you have to assume March 17th, right? (more…)

Angry Bird Hits 30 Million Download Mark on Android (Updated)
Rovio’s Peter Vesterbacka is hanging out at GDC (Game Developers Conference) this week and casually tossed out a number related to downloads of Angry Birds on the Android platform. 30 million. Yep, this silly little slingshotting bird game has been gobbled up more than 30 million times by Android folks alone. He also mentioned that 80 percent of those 30 million have downloaded updates to the game which means that people aren’t getting sick of it and theories that this would be another fad are looking pretty ridiculous right now. With their Seasons spinoff, and a whole bunch of levels slated to be released this month, we won’t be surprised if they come back talkin’ 50 millie before long.
Update: Conan featured the “world’s largest” live-action Angry Birds last night and it seemed fitting to include it in this post…(Cheers Chris!)

Cheers to everyone who sent this in!

Cut the Rope for Android Nearing Release, Preview Video Goes Live
We’ve been following Cut the Rope since back in October, so when we received this video almost an hour ago now, we seriously popped out of our seats. This is one of those iOS games that has taken the mobile world by storm, but has been absent from the Android platform and that’s a damn shame. And I even hate to admit this, but this game is good enough that I actually downloaded it to an iPod Touch, just so that I could spend some quality time with it.
Well today, ZeptoLab, released a quick preview video that shows the Android version of the game in action with a note in the description reading “The release date will be announced later.” All we can hope for, is a non-Thunderbolt approach to this release and we should have it in no time. (more…)

Stupid Zombies Brings the Killin’ Angry Birds-style
Our buddy Andrew over at Androinica introduced us to this game yesterday called Stupid Zombies and we haven’t been able to put it down. The idea is similar in a way to Angry Birds, but it involves guns, zombies, blood and even more “strategery”, which is exactly why we love it. Your goal is to kill off all zombies on each level with as few shots as possible, but you have to utilize angles and bounces, so the game becomes much harder than say, just pulling back on a slingshot and letting a bird fly. You are awarded up to 3 stars for each level, can unlock new ones, and will probably spend countless hours of today trying to beat it as there are 60 to get through in stage 1 alone.
It’s also free. (more…)
