Only the best Android games make our daily Android apps lists, because you don’t need to sift through the garbage – you just need to know what you should be playing and spending that cash on.

Whether its Crossy Road, Monument Valley, HQ Trivia, the latest Star Wars game, or an indie title, there is a good chance our gaming expert(s) have taken a look at it.

Have Android games recommendations? Send them on over and we’ll do our best to dive in, test it, and let you know if it will be worth purchasing. We have a good eye for games at Droid Life an consider ourselves a trusted voice.

  • Angry Birds Secrets: Mighty Eagle and Rio Golden Egg

The Angry Birds update that was released on Friday night might have introduced a new western episode plus 30 new levels, but some of the images one of our readers found are the real story here.  After cruising around the guts of the app, we can see that the Mighty Eagle is locked inside alongside a special Rio golden egg.  We know that a secret Rio level will be unlocked with a code shown at the Super Bowl today, so this has to be how they’ll do it.  The Mighty Eagle on the other hand, is the level skipping add-on that is not yet available on Android, but is on other platforms.  Does this mean that in-app purchases will allow the Eagle the fly sooner than we thought?  Maybe.  Of course, this all could mean nothing since we’re seeing icons for Nokia’s Ovi Store, and the Mighty Eagle pics could have to do with that.

Another interesting note, is the fact that all of the files are dated February 11.  We’ll let you decide what that means.

    Cheers Stephen!

  • Angry Birds Receives Update, New Ham ’em High Episode and 30 Additional Levels

If you want, you can probably kill a good 3-4 hours of time before your Super Bowl party with the Angry Birds update that came out late Friday night.  The new western-themed Ham ’em High episode brings us 30 new levels, but also lets lower end devices toggle the level of graphics that are displayed.  Another solid update to a game that just keeps growing by the day.  Oh, Rovio also wanted to remind everyone to pay attention during SB XLV for an unlock code to a new level that we previewed just the other day.

I know the answer to this, but has anyone beat all 30 new levels yet?

  • Angry Birds Secret Super Bowl Level Revealed, Valentine’s Edition Too

Whether you like it or not, Angry Birds is here to stay and to tell you the truth, it might just be getting started.  A new version of the game called Angry Birds Rio which includes 45 new levels should be here in March, but before that we’ll be enjoying another 15 or so levels on a Valentine’s edition.  See what I mean about “just getting started?”  And actually, before that we’ll be unlocking the level that you are seeing pictured above using a code found during this Sunday’s Super Bowl XLV.   (more…)

  • Angry Birds Rio Headed to Android in March, Will Contain 45 New Levels

Look, I love Angry Birds as much as anyone, but a motion picture based off of the game?  Seems like a little much, only that’s exactly what the plan is from Rovio and 20th Century Fox.  Fortunately for all of us, this movie means that a new game called Angry Birds Rio is on the way and will include 45 new levels plus a bunch of regular updates.  The game is expected to be available on multiple platforms including Android some time in March.

Anyone had enough AB or did this just make your weekend?   (more…)

  • Angry Birds Valentine’s Edition is in the Works

If you’ve been waiting impatiently for an update to Angry Birds after the holiday edition, then smile because your wait may almost be over.  A Valentine’s Edition looks to be in the works according to a puff piece done by Deutsche Welle on the new addiction that is mobile gaming.  If you zoom ahead to the 4:22 mark in the video below, you’ll see a couple of quick shots of the new pink levels that are of course, filled with heart objects.  Cute.

Oh, there is no mention of it actually coming to Android, we’re just assuming.   (more…)

  • Rocket Bunnies Update Doubles Number of Levels, Adds New Enemies and Collectible Hats

Rocket Bunnies was already one of our all time favorite games, but after hearing from the guys over at Defiant Development that the new update doubled the number of levels, added new enemies and obstacles, and more collectible hats, we were even more in love.  Apparently RB is now on over 400,000 Android handsets, so to give back to the community, they decided to drop this massive update.  It’s a fantastic game that is as addicting as any out there.

If you haven’t seen Rocket Bunnies before, check out the video preview after the break.   (more…)

  • Fruit Ninja Updated, Arcade Mode is Live!

We’ve been waiting for “Arcade” mode on Fruit Ninja for months now and today, it went live in the Android market.  For those of you with the game already installed, all you have to do is manually update it and your entire day will be complete.  This new mode gives you power-ups through bananas like frenzy, double-points, and freeze to make the game even more addicting.  In fact, they teased us with “Arcade” mode from day 1 on Android and has been the single thing keeping me from obsessing over it…I guess now my life is complete?

Here is the old trailer for “Arcade” mode:   (more…)

  • And Just Like That, Kongregate Arcade is Gone From the Android Market

When you launch a massive gaming application like Kongregate did yesterday, you should probably read the Android Developers Distribution agreement which clearly states that you can’t provide an app that allows people to download other apps.  And since they didn’t, their app and its 300+ Flash-based games is gone and will probably not be returning any time soon.  Google definitely frowns upon anyone looking to distribute apps through other apps that they might have downloaded from their market.  They have zero control over anything when this happens, and while they are pretty lax for the most part, this is a serious enough situation to warrant such a removal.

You can still download the app here.
