HTC Sense Companion App Now Available
When HTC first introduced the U Ultra, then talked a lot about the phone’s AI smarts. The U Ultra was supposed to include an assistant of sorts, called HTC Sense Companion, that could help you throughout a day and potentially learn from you the more you use your phone.
We poked quite a bit of fun at it that day, because HTC was all sorts of excited about a not-yet-ready “AI” app they had built that basically did things Google Now had been doing for years. I’m not kidding either, HTC Sense Companion is just an app that isn’t baked into the phone and doesn’t appear to be all that advanced. I say that because the app is now available to HTC customers and sure looks like a quarter-baked assistant application. (more…)

Google Carrier Services Update Showed Up Today – What is It?
Let me guess, you got an update to Carrier Services on your Android phone today? You are not alone! Our Twitter feed and inbox are pretty filled up with a whole bunch of confused people. What is Carrier Services? Is this a CIA spy tool? What’s with the 2009 screenshots in the app listing? What. Is. Going. On.
Well, the app’s “What’s New” area doesn’t tell us much other than the update includes “Lots of new features, and a couple bug fixes.” But if you jump through to the description, Google reveals that Carrier Services “helps carriers provide mobile services using the latest networking capabilities.” More importantly, Carrier Services “includes support for enhanced features in the Android Messages app.” Ah, ha! Thursday Poll: Which App Do You Use for Twitter?
It’s 2017 and there’s still no shortage of 3rd-party apps for Twitter on Google Play. Leading up to this point, there has been drama, with some apps falling victim to the services’s old hostility for 3rd-party development. Remember the finite amount of user tokens and all that crap? Yeah, thankfully, that all seems to be fading away.
As for the choices, there are plenty of good ones, and we’ve written about pretty much all of them. You have the stock Twitter app (which has improved vastly over the years), Fenix, Flamingo, Falcon, Talon, and many others. Each has their own set of features, and you can’t exactly go wrong with any of them. It’s all user preference.
So, the question is, which do you use? And before you go say, “I’m so cool, I don’t use Twitter,” get outta here with that. Twitter is amazing and if you aren’t already, follow us, duh!
